Chapter 154 He left Melissa; he tacitly approved that she liked him!
Zachary tossed the documents aside, indicating his agreement.
Secretary Thomas breathed a sigh of relief. Just then, a photo slipped out of the papers—it was Melissa's ID photo.
She was wearing a white shirt, her golden hair tied back in a ponytail, with a hint of liveliness in her eyes.
The innocence in her look resembled 18-year-old Victoria.
Secretary Thomas acted swiftly, picking it up and tucking it back into the documents, ready to take it away.
But Zachary stopped her: "Wait!"
Zachary took the documents, pulled out the photo, looked at it for a while, and then put it back, saying softly, "Let her stay! No need to treat her specially, just as an ordinary intern."
Secretary Thomas protested, "Zachary, Victoria won't be pleased. This girl's identity is too special, I'm afraid..."
Zachary's tone grew colder: "Do as I say!"
Secretary Thomas hesitated after hearing this. Zachary looked up.
Secretary Thomas smiled lightly, "Zachary, I used to think you loved Victoria, but now I see that you love the passionate Victoria who loved you, not the current Victoria."
She raised the documents in her hand, her voice bitter. "One day, you will regret this!"
Zachary snapped, "Pamela, mind your identity!"
Secretary Thomas took a deep breath, said nothing more, and walked out of the office.
As the door closed, Zachary could still hear the sound of her high heels outside, indicating her anger.
Melissa joined Sackler Corporation with some ulterior motives.
She had thought that Zachary would continue to take care of the White family because of Yara, but since their farewell at the airport, Zachary had not contacted the White family again.
Coincidentally, when Sackler Corporation was hiring, she applied and unexpectedly got accepted.
However, Melissa still had yet to interact with Zachary; he was the lofty CEO, while she was just an insignificant intern.
Occasionally, when they crossed paths in the lobby, he ignored her, leaving her red-faced.
People in the workplace were very experienced.
Melissa's intentions were not hard to see, so someone joked, "Zachary is married, and there are plenty of socialites eyeing him. Melissa, you have to work very hard!"
Melissa blushed, "You're talking nonsense." She spoke softly, "I won't be a mistress."
Colleagues laughed on the surface but inwardly sneered: it's not easy to become a mistress of a man like Zachary; he wouldn't make choices lightly.
They chuckled, but Secretary Thomas overheard.
Holding a stack of files, she walked over in high heels, glanced around, and then fixed her gaze on Melissa's face, saying as if to everyone, "I didn't see your serious attitude for work. If you lack ambition, marry a man!"
No one dared to speak, knowing that Secretary Thomas was strict and their evaluations depended on her.
The people dispersed.
Only Melissa followed to the elevator, speaking cautiously, "Thomas, I don't have those intentions!"
Secretary Thomas remained expressionless, her voice icy. "If you didn't have those intentions, you wouldn't have come to Sackler Corporation! With so many companies, why did you choose to come here? Who are you pretending to be innocent for now?"
Melissa was on the verge of tears.
Secretary Thomas turned sideways to look at her quietly and whispered, "I've seen a lot of girls like you!"
As the elevator doors opened, Secretary Thomas entered. Though slow-witted, Melissa could sense that Secretary Thomas didn't like her.
On Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas, snow began to fall.
Zachary left company early, around four o'clock. He went to buy Christmas gifts for Emily , and of course, he also prepared one for Victoria.
Due to the recent cold weather, Zachary bought Victoria a scarf—a light pink cashmere scarf from LV. After purchasing the gifts, he got into the black RV and slowly drove out of the mall's underground parking lot.
The snow outside was getting heavier, with a thin layer already covering the road.
At a red light at an intersection, the driver stopped the car, wiped the rearview mirror, and said, "With this snow tonight, the roads might get blocked! Mr.Zachary, I'll come early tomorrow morning."
Zachary leaned back in the back seat, playing with the toy he bought for Emily , and said, "Tomorrow is Christmas; I'll be with Emily ."
The driver agreed, "With a child, Mr.Zachary has become more of a family man!" Zachary chuckled softly.
Just as the car was about to start, a young girl stood by the car, lightly tapping the door, her expression cautious with a hint of shyness. It was Melissa.
Zachary quietly watched for a few seconds before rolling down the window. Melissa bit her lip, looking somewhat anxious, "Zachary, I have an urgent matter. Can you give me a ride? I can't get a cab in this snow."
The driver was about to reprimand her.
She was treating Zachary's car as a taxi that would have stopped for her with a wave!
Zachary's gaze fell on Melissa's face. Her face seemed pale but lively, unlike Victoria, who was always aloof.
After a moment, Zachary coldly said, "Get in!" Melissa hesitated, then opened the back door.
This was quite irregular; usually, even Secretary Thomas could only sit in the front seat of this car, let alone Melissa, who was just an intern at the company.
The driver sensed something and hesitated to speak.
Finally, he asked, "Where to, Melissa?"
Inside the warm car, Melissa's face grew even redder, and she whispered, "I'm going to Sackler General Hospital; a family member is sick, and I'm going to visit."
The driver said meaningfully, "Sackler General Hospital isn't on the way!"
Melissa blushed even more. No matter what, she was still a girl, and with one sentence, the driver exposed her thoughts.
At this moment, Zachary coldly said, "Go to the hospital!" After that, he remained silent, gazing out at the snowy scenery.
The evening approached. The snowy sky, the luxurious black car, and the mature and handsome man created a romantic atmosphere that made Melissa feel enchanted.
Melissa could smell a faint tobacco scent from the man beside her, along with a hint of mature masculinity, all teasing her nerves and stirring her thoughts.
Her face flushed with embarrassment; she stole glances at Zachary.
He was aware of her feelings, and at this moment, he seemed to approve of them tacitly!
Perhaps he saw Melissa as a substitute for Victoria, her gaze reminding him of the 18-year-old Victoria, and he silently cherished the feeling of being liked by Victoria through Melissa.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of the hospital building.
Zachary didn't say a word.
Melissa hesitated, holding onto the car handle, and said with reluctance, "Thank you, Zachary!"
Zachary nodded graciously.
Melissa bit her lip, got out of the car, and left. The cold wind and snow entered the vehicle, causing the temperature inside to drop suddenly, and the faintly ambiguous atmosphere disappeared.
Zachary leaned back in his seat, ordered,"Back to the mansion!"
As the driver stepped on the gas, he added, "Women these days have no shame. They even actually dare to seduce married men. Am I right, Mr.Zachary?"
Zachary remained silent, leaving the driver feeling somewhat awkward.
