Chapter 116 Want to Mock Her
"Our people checked, and Wilder isn't a reporter from any legitimate news media."
Joe glanced at Timothy and continued, "Wilder happened to be staking out a female celebrity nearby when two girls walking past him were talking about encountering a female murder suspect who'd been dumped by a nobleman."
"Wilder got the supermarket address from those two girls and went there to wait for Ms. Penrose."
Timothy's eyes turned cold. He asked, "Did you find out who leaked it?"
Any news about nobility would be shared all over the internet by users. Although they could trace the original source of the news, they couldn't find out who provided it.
Timothy's biggest worry was that this might be connected to Jake. If Jake was involved, it would prove that Jake had his sights set on Elizabeth.
While Timothy was thinking, Joe didn't interrupt him.
At noon, the sunlight was pretty harsh.
After meeting with Harry, Elizabeth left the private room wearing sunglasses and a face mask.
She'd become an internet celebrity now—the kind that gets criticized—so she had to wear a mask and sunglasses when going out.
Elizabeth was pretty good at entertaining herself.
Mabel stood by the car door in a short skirt and T-shirt, full of energy, waving her hand.
"Have you been waiting long?"
Since Elizabeth had time in the afternoon, she called Mabel to meet up.
They planned to have lunch and then go to Melody Pavilion together to listen to a concert.
Mabel was holding a battery-powered mini fan, very down-to-earth, "No, I just got here. Get in, it's so hot."
Elizabeth brought bodyguards when she went out today. The car she drove would be followed by the bodyguards driving behind.
After they got in the car, Mabel turned to glance at the two cars following behind.
"Elizabeth, did you get more bodyguards?"
"Yes, it's safer this way. Mr. Robinson assigned me more bodyguards."
Elizabeth didn't plan to stay home just because of the gossip online.
She hadn't done anything wrong.
There was nothing to be afraid of that would stop her from going out.
"That's right, Elizabeth is so beautiful, naturally you need bodyguards to protect you when you go out."
Mabel said with certainty.
Elizabeth looked at Mabel with a momentarily helpless expression. Was she focusing on the wrong thing?
This had nothing to do with being beautiful or not.
Elizabeth reached over to turn off the mini fan. The car had air conditioning. "Silly, haven't you seen the news these past few days?"
Mabel blinked, "I did. It's just bored people who like to talk nonsense."
"Because of what's online, I brought bodyguards for safety."
"Is it not safe for Elizabeth to go out now?"
"Yes, pretty much."
"Then should we still go to the concert? Should we go back home?"
Mabel started to panic.
Elizabeth told her to stay calm, "Don't worry, I'm wearing a mask, and we have bodyguards."
The performer at this concert was a famous pianist from abroad, and many people came to see him.
Elizabeth and Mabel sat in the front row VIP seats, while two rows behind them, Sherry was sitting there.
Elizabeth didn't see Sherry.
But Sherry saw Elizabeth.
Although Elizabeth was wearing a mask when she came in, Sherry recognized her at a glance.
Sherry's eyes turned cold.
The concert ended after two and a half hours.
Elizabeth and her companion walked out of Melody Pavilion under the bodyguards' protection.
A car honked its horn.
Elizabeth looked up and saw Sherry, who had rolled down the window and showed her face.
Sherry opened the car door and walked up to Elizabeth, but was stopped by the bodyguards.
Sherry laughed lightly, "Ms. Penrose, can we talk?"
"We have nothing to talk about." Elizabeth smiled faintly. She told Mabel to get in the car first.
Sherry smiled, "I really admire you. At a time like this, you still have the mood to come listen to a concert. I just wanted to congratulate Ms. Penrose—you really have the luck to be an internet celebrity."
The infamous kind of celebrity.
Elizabeth was being criticized online as a vicious bad woman.
Elizabeth's lips curved up. So she came to mock her. "Thanks for the congratulations. I heard Ms. Scott and Mr. Johnson already held their engagement party? I wish you both a happy and fulfilling married life."
"Oh, and I saw the Instagram post Ms. Scott shared—a family of three looks really happy."
Elizabeth smiled.
Verity had said that Sherry and Armando's life together wasn't harmonious.
Coming to mock her, Elizabeth? She should check whether her own life is happy first.
Elizabeth bent down and got into the car, closing the door.
From Elizabeth's tone, Sherry detected a hint of mockery.
Sherry's face instantly darkened.
What did Elizabeth mean?
Or had she misunderstood?
Was Elizabeth's comment about "a family of three looks really happy" sarcastic or sincere congratulations?
