Chapter 83
Vivian was still crying, her head down. "But Tiffany's with Julia every day now. She hasn't even come home these past few days, staying at Julia's place. Tiffany really likes her. If Henry didn't plan on getting back together, why would he trust Tiffany with her like this."
Henry could only be hers.
Even if he hit her, Vivian needed to know Henry's every move at all times.
It was because Tiffany had been staying at Julia's for several days, and Henry was going there in the morning and not leaving until late at night.
That was why Vivian started to panic!
She told her parents about it, and after getting a scolding, they forced her to come and apologize.
Seeing Scarlett forgive her, Vivian couldn't help but bring up Julia.
Scarlett despised Julia.
Over the years, Vivian had told her countless bad things about Julia, blaming her for Tiffany's autism because she abandoned her at birth.
Scarlett had no idea Henry had entrusted Tiffany to Julia.
Now Scarlett was furious. "This is ridiculous! How dare Henry!"
She suppressed her anger and comforted Vivian. "Alright, Vivian, stop crying. There's no way those two will end up together. Even if Henry has that idea, I won't allow her to come back!"
Vivian pitifully confirmed Scarlett's words.
Scarlett's face was dark and terrifying, as if she was recalling past events.
Seeing Scarlett's reaction to Julia, Vivian felt reassured.
She sincerely apologized again before leaving with her parents.
With Scarlett's promise, their goal was achieved.
"See? Didn't I tell you it would work?" Ruby praised Vivian's performance enthusiastically after they left. "Vivian, you should always listen to me."
She added, "You cried, and not only did Scarlett not blame you for hitting the child, she felt guilty, right? She even promised never to let that bitch Julia marry Henry. Do you know what that's called? A triple win!"
Vivian's face showed no regret. "Yeah, Mom, you're amazing."
After the family left happily, Scarlett had a restless night.
Vivian's words kept echoing in her mind.
Every time she closed her eyes, she heard, "Henry entrusted Tiffany to Julia."
Julia must have cast some spell on Henry.
The more Scarlett thought about it, the more she couldn't sleep. She got up and had someone investigate Julia's place, planning to visit in person the next day.
Early the next morning.
When Julia got up, Hannah and Lexine had already prepared breakfast.
Hannah missed Tiffany so much that she asked Henry if she could stay for a few days.
Henry agreed.
As they were eating, the doorbell rang.
Thinking it was Henry, Julia went to open the door.
But the moment she opened it, the smile on her face froze.
Scarlett stood at the door, dressed elegantly, exuding an air of wealth. She looked Julia up and down with disdain in her eyes.
She sneered, "What, you don't recognize me after just six years?"
Julia snapped out of it, unsure why Scarlett was here.
But Scarlett's expression said it all: she was here with bad intentions.
Julia looked at her warily but still greeted her politely, "Mrs. Hearst."
Scarlett glared at her condescendingly. "Is this how you treat your ex-husband's mother, making her stand at the door?"
"Please come in." Julia suppressed her emotions and stepped aside to let her in.
Scarlett snorted and walked into the house, sitting on the couch as if she owned the place.
Julia closed the door and followed her, looking at Scarlett with neither humility nor arrogance. "Mrs. Hearst, what brings you here so early?"
Scarlett got straight to the point. "I'm here to tell you to stay away from my son! And don't even think about getting close to Tiffany. She has nothing to do with you. Since you chose to leave without a word, you have no right to come back."
Julia understood.
Scarlett was here for this.
She couldn't help but find it a bit amusing. "Don't worry, since I left, I never planned on coming back."
"You say that now, but if that's true, explain why you keep meeting Henry. And why is Tiffany here with you?" Scarlett sneered.
She looked down on Julia, thinking her words didn't match her actions.
Julia's attitude hardened. "My meetings with Henry are purely coincidental. The Carter family can vouch for that. As for Tiffany, she and my kids go to the same preschool and are good friends. That's why she comes over to play."
Julia didn't mention Tiffany's illness and dependence on her, even with Scarlett at the door.
She didn't want Tiffany to hear about adult matters.
And even if she did explain, Scarlett probably wouldn't believe her.
Scarlett would think she was just making excuses to deceive Henry.
Scarlett didn't believe a word she said. "Do you think I don't know about your carefully planned moves? You might fool Henry, but not me. Investigating a preschool isn't hard, right? It's clearly stated on the website that the Hearst family invested in it. Didn't you see that?"
Scarlett's aggressive questioning left Julia speechless.
The preschool was recommended by Caroline, and Julia had checked it out.
Her only thought was to get Joseph and Stephen into the best preschool. She hadn't considered the Hearst Group's investment.
It was just an investment.
The Hearst Group probably had many investments.
Did Scarlett expect her to change her life because of that?
Seeing Julia's silence, Scarlett assumed she was guilty and sneered. "Fine, I don't care what you're planning. Now that I've exposed you, stay away from Henry. Even if you two are madly in love, you won't set foot in our house unless I'm dead."
Julia stood her ground. "Don't worry, I won't go back."
"Good. Remember what you said. A person's word shouldn't be worthless!" Scarlett's disgust for her was palpable.
Just then, the three kids finished their breakfast and came over.
Joseph and Stephen wanted to protect their mom. Tiffany recognized her grandmother and ran to her, looking at her in confusion.
Seeing her granddaughter, Scarlett's expression softened. "Sweetie, how about coming home with Grandma?"
