Chapter 344

Chapter 344

I've never been athletic. Paula, on the other hand, loved working out and knew how to fight. Before I could stop her, she delivered a devastating kick between Bobby's legs.

Bobby collapsed again, clutching himself and howling in pain, tears and snot running down his face. The gathering crowd watched in shock but kept their distance.

Realizing this situation was beyond salvaging anyway, I stepped forward and landed a few kicks of my own.

"Melinda, what are you doing?" Paula asked, while giving me a thumbs-up.

After days of pent-up frustration, hitting this awful man felt surprisingly cathartic.

Hospital security and medical staff quickly rushed over to separate us. In the commotion, Paula managed to stomp on Bobby a few more times, and I got in several more kicks.

"You bitch—" Bobby groaned through his pain.

Paula positioned herself protectively in front of me. "What are you looking at? Creeps like you deserve this. Remember who beat you up—it was me!"

I realized she was taking all the blame to protect me. When I tried to speak up, she covered my mouth and warned Bobby, "Stay away from Melinda in the future, or next time will be much worse..."

Her cold gaze dropped meaningfully to his groin. Bobby, already in agony, squeezed his legs together in fear.

The medical staff quickly loaded Bobby onto a gurney. As they wheeled him away, he shouted, "You won't get away with this! I need a full examination! I'm calling the police and getting the best lawyers..."

"Sounds like we went too easy on him," Paula muttered, though she made no move to follow.

I pulled out my phone to contact a lawyer. Though I didn't want to involve Jason, I considered asking Fallon for recommendations.

Paula beat me to it. "If I'm going to get tested as a donor, I might as well earn some goodwill. I'll call him directly."

I knew she meant Jason. With his capabilities, he could probably handle this situation.

Bobby was rushed inside for examination, primarily concerned about potential damage to his manhood. Once assured everything was intact, he demanded to be wheeled back out, afraid we might escape.

The hospital staff positioned themselves between us to prevent further conflict.

Both sides were making calls. Bobby knew Paula was from the Ellis family and that I worked for Christopher, so he was calling everyone influential he knew.

After finishing her call, Paula unexpectedly beckoned to Bobby.

"Miss, please don't—" a doctor started, assuming she wanted another confrontation.

"Don't worry," Paula assured him. "I won't hit him again. I just want to talk civilly. I promise."

Bobby smirked, thinking she was backing down. "Regretting it now? Coming to beg forgiveness?"

Paula nearly rolled her eyes but controlled herself. "Let's set this aside for a moment. I have a different question."

Bobby was still furious, interpreting her casual tone as mockery.

"You're... really... something, Paula," he seethed through clenched teeth.

Paula remained remarkably calm. "Don't be so sensitive. I just want to know—was there something between you and Marlowe before?"

Bobby scoffed, seemingly dismissing the idea.

Then Paula dropped her bombshell: "Did you sleep with her?"

I nearly choked in surprise.

Bobby, despite his anger, was smart enough to be suspicious of Paula's sudden interest. "None of your business!"

"Psychologically speaking," Paula pressed, "if there was nothing between you, you would have simply denied it. Your ambiguous answer suggests otherwise..."

"You whore—"

Paula's eyes flashed dangerously. "Call me that again, and my fists might get itchy. Understand?"

She flexed her knuckles menacingly, like a battle-hardened commander.

Bobby fell silent, though his eyes burned with hatred.

"I could gouge those eyes out," Paula threatened with a demonstrative gesture.

Bobby finally quieted down.

Paula whistled dismissively at his cowardice, which proved to be the final straw. Something in Bobby snapped. He suddenly lunged forward, swinging his fist toward Paula's face with murderous intent.

"Paula!" I cried, instinctively moving to shield her.

Paula forcibly held me back, refusing to let me take the blow. I cursed my lack of physical strength as I struggled unsuccessfully against her grip.

Bobby's hand was inches from Paula's face. The medical staff froze in shock, and the security guards hesitated, aware of Bobby's status.

"Bobby, stop!" I shouted.

Paula had deliberately provoked him and was now actually presenting her face for the blow. I understood her strategy, but I couldn't let her be hurt for my sake.

"Stop!" I screamed as his hand descended.

At that moment, police officers burst in. The security guards finally moved, and the officers grabbed Bobby's arm, forcing him face-down on the floor.
