Chapter 104 Breaking Off Relations
Upon hearing the name "Sophia," Amelia thought it was just an ordinary name and didn't pay much attention to who it was. Later, she found out that Russell was Sophia's grandfather. However, if Sophia knew what Russell said about her behind her back, she would probably be furious.
In the blink of an eye, more than two months had passed.
One day, Royce once again took Amelia to visit Russell.
Amelia brought the repaired embossed glass cup into the house, and Royce boasted again, "Russell, Amelia has only been learning for two months, and she has already repaired an embossed glass cup that was shattered into seventeen pieces. Look at it now, it's flawless. You can see how smart Amelia is."
After being repeatedly shown off for two months, Russell had gotten used to it.
He then slowly sipped his tea and said to Amelia, "Amelia, why don't you come to me in a while to learn how to repair wooden artifacts? I can teach you."
Amelia hadn't even opened her mouth yet.
Royce hurriedly stopped him, "No way, Amelia is my apprentice. If you let her learn from you, it's clearly stealing my apprentice, which is quite unfair."
With a soft sound, the antique shop's glass door was suddenly pushed open.
A young woman wearing 4-inch high heels and dressed flamboyantly walked in. Before she even got close, a sweet and expensive perfume scent wafted into the room.
Amelia instinctively thought of Sophia.
She turned around and saw Sophia swaying her slim waist as she walked towards the table, sweetly calling out, "Grandpa..."
When her gaze fell on Amelia, Sophia was stunned.
Sophia asked, "Amelia, why are you here too?"
Royce stood up, patted Amelia's shoulder, and introduced her with a smile, "Sophia, let me introduce you. This is my new apprentice from over two months ago, the genius girl Amelia."
Sophia's bag fell to the ground and her face turned very unpleasant.
Amelia was also taken aback. No matter how things turned, she always ended up connected to Sophia.
She understood why Ryan didn't let her tell Royce about her married status and his name.
Amelia found it both funny and exasperating.
Sophia never expected that her own grandfather Royce would take her rival as an apprentice and praise her highly! How could she tolerate this?
Bending down to pick up her bag from the ground, Sophia angrily dusted it off and then stomped her foot. She domineeringly said to Royce, "Grandpa, I forbid you to take her as an apprentice!"
Royce's smiling face immediately turned serious, "Sophia, don't be ridiculous."
Sophia retorted, "I don't like her!"
Royce chuckled, "I take apprentices based on my own liking, not yours."
Sophia pouted, "But do you know who she is?"
Royce stroked his beard and said slowly, "Yes, I know. Her name is Amelia, and she is Carl's granddaughter. She is now my apprentice."
Sophia was extremely angry, "She is Ryan's wife!"
Royce's expression froze slightly. He glanced at Amelia and quickly said, "I took her as an apprentice because of her talent. What does it have to do with her husband?"
Seeing that Royce was always siding with Amelia, Sophia's features twisted in anger.
She said impatiently, "Ryan and I grew up together. I am the daughter-in-law recognized by their family. Amelia stole my Ryan!"
"Didn't you and Ryan break up five years ago?" Royce was puzzled.
Sophia stubbornly said, "I went abroad to study at that time and couldn't take care of Ryan. The Martin family arranged a servant for him, which is Amelia."
Amelia couldn't help but sneer, listening to Sophia distort the truth to defend herself. This was too shameless.
However, she still needed to explain. Amelia cleared her throat and explained to Royce, "Mr. Greer, when Ryan and I got married five years ago, he was single. Our marriage certificate was issued by the government, and we are legally recognized as husband and wife, not the so-called servant Ms. Brown mentioned."
She then added, "The reason I didn't tell you, as you said, is that becoming your student is to learn skills from you, and it has nothing to do with who my husband is."
After listening, Royce remained silent for a long time.
Sophia thought Royce was going to sever ties with Amelia and felt smug. She didn't forget to act coquettishly, "Grandpa, see, she deliberately hid it."
Royce glanced at Sophia expressionlessly, then looked at Amelia and said softly, "Amelia, let's go."
Amelia smiled slightly and said sweetly, "Okay, Mr. Greer."
Royce walked towards the door and Amelia followed him with the embossed glass cup in her arms.
Sophia hurriedly chased after them, grabbing Royce's arm and shaking it lightly, "Grandpa, I know you love me the most. You have to disqualify Amelia as an apprentice."
Amelia got goosebumps from this behavior.
Royce looked at Sophia seriously, "Taking an apprentice is not a joke. Besides, she hasn't broken any laws or made any mistakes. There's no reason to disqualify her as an apprentice, and I won't do something that would be ridiculed in the art world."
After saying that, Royce removed Sophia's hand, put his hands behind his back, and walked out of Russell's antique shop.
Amelia followed him out.
Watching them leave, Sophia angrily kicked a nearby flower pot, causing the plant to fall.
Russell frowned and couldn't help but scold, "Sophia, if you're angry, be angry. Why take it out on my plant?"
He then hurriedly called the shop assistant, "Quick, pick up the plant and fill in the soil. Hurry, hurry!"
Having been scolded by Russell and Royce, Sophia was very angry and stormed upstairs.
Amelia followed Royce back to Antique Charm and handed the embossed glass cup to the shop assistant.
Royce was sitting silently at the table by the window, looking solemn. Amelia hesitated and said softly, "Mr. Greer, maybe I should leave? So you won't be in a difficult position."
Royce didn't respond, just silently looked at her.
Amelia bent down and bowed deeply to him, "Thank you, Mr. Greer, for your careful guidance over the past two months. I am very grateful for your generous teaching."
After saying that, she turned to leave.
After taking a few steps, Royce's voice came from behind, "Amelia, come back."
Amelia stopped and slowly turned around.
Royce's serious expression softened and he said kindly, "Taking you as an apprentice is between you and me, and it has nothing to do with Sophia. Don't ever talk about leaving again, understand?"
Amelia's eyes welled up, and she smiled, "Thank you, Mr. Greer."
In the evening, back home.
Amelia told Ryan everything that happened during the day.
After listening, Ryan smiled, "That's why I didn't want you to mention your marriage to Royce or my name."
Amelia rolled her eyes at him and said, "Why didn't you remind me earlier?"
"Learning multiple skills is only beneficial. It's always good to learn another craft. I wouldn't trust you learning from anyone else, but Royce is a decent person." He reassured her.
Amelia frowned slightly and said, "But now it's a bit awkward."
Ryan rubbed her head and replied, "It's okay. You paid a million dollars in tuition, so you have every right to learn. If Sophia dares to make things difficult for you, I'll show her what real trouble is."
