Chapter 103 Showing Off the Apprentice
The gloom in Ryan's eyes dissipated slightly.
He then stood up, and walked to the balcony with his phone to instruct Charles, "Send someone to buy ten daggers, the best ones, right now."
Charles responded, "Yes, Mr. Martin, right away."
An hour later.
Charles arrived and panted, with ten brand-new daggers, each from a top-tier brand, incredibly sharp.
Ryan laid the ten daggers out in front of Amelia and said, "Throw away the dagger he gave you. These are the ones I had my men buy for you."
Amelia looked at the ten differently styled daggers and said helplessly, "Do you really need to be this petty?"
"I don't like you using things given by other men," Ryan glanced at Amelia and said flatly.
Amelia felt overwhelmed by this intense possessiveness and found it hard to breathe.
However, she carefully chose her words and said softly, "You don't have to do this. He gave me the dagger because I gave him some design patterns suitable for craft products. The reason I gave him the drawings is that he saved me when I was in Scenic Hamlet. I didn't want to owe him a favor, so I thought the drawings would even things out."
Ryan pursed his lips in silence, still looking unhappy.
Amelia moved closer to him, gently touched his stubbled chin, and said, "I'm not that popular among men, you don't need to be so nervous."
He looked at her coldly, his gaze as cold as water.
It was clear that she truly didn't understand her charm even when Joshua and Christopher were around her to show their care and affection.
Seeing that Ryan didn't believe her, Amelia counted on her fingers and said, "Look, besides being somewhat good-looking and able to draw, what else do I have? And honestly, I'm not romantic, especially with people I'm not familiar with, I don't even bother to talk."
Ryan paused and lowered his head to kiss her hair. He said gently, "Then can I trade these ten daggers for that silver-engraved one?"
Seeing his insistence, Amelia had to compromise, "Alright then."
The next morning, Ryan had someone deliver the silver-engraved dagger to Christopher's office at Stormcloud Tower.
When Christopher entered, he saw the silver dagger on his desk, his eyes darkening.
He walked to the desk, picked up the dagger, and looked at it for a long time. He gently stroked the patterns with his thumb, reluctant to put it down, because it carried Amelia's scent.
Meanwhile, after a day of rest, Amelia returned to Antique Charm.
Royce spent the entire morning teaching her the basics of restoration, including how to clean ancient relief glass and how to mix proportions. She didn't disappoint Royce and quickly grasped everything he taught.
Time flew by and soon it was noon.
After lunch, Royce wanted to take her to the antique shop next door, and Amelia had to accompany him.
As soon as they entered, Royce loudly called out, "Russell, come down and meet my apprentice!"
His voice was so loud that it could be heard upstairs and downstairs.
Russell Brown, hearing the commotion, came out of the treasure appraisal room upstairs. He slowly descended the stairs while holding the railing.
Amelia looked closely at him.
Russell was dressed in white fitness clothes with silver hair. He walked with a calm demeanor, skillfully holding a finger controller. Though his face was wrinkled, his eyes were bright when he looked at people.
He was about the same age as Royce, both in their eighties.
When he reached downstairs, Royce pushed Amelia in front of him and boasted, "Russell, this is my new apprentice, Amelia. She's also the granddaughter of the artist Virtuoso of the Artistry Carl, a genius girl."
Amelia felt a bit embarrassed, thinking Royce was exaggerating, as she was already married and no longer a girl.
Russell looked at Amelia with a smile. He stroked his silver beard and praised, "Your apprentice looks a lot like Serenity when she was young."
Serenity was Serenity Greer, Royce's eldest daughter.
Hearing Serenity's name, Royce's mood immediately turned somber.
He sighed and said sadly, "If that child hadn't been traumatized, she would have been a fine person now."
"Who wouldn't agree," Russell also sighed.
Royce glanced at Amelia with red eyes, "If Serenity's second child, the little girl, hadn't died, she would be about Amelia's age now. Such a pity."
Russell's eyes also reddened. He echoed, "Yes, such a pity."
The atmosphere became heavy and they sat down in silence as the staff served tea.
Royce and Russell sat in their chairs, their eyes drooping, lost in memories, not speaking.
Seeing the oppressive atmosphere, Amelia silently picked up a teacup, handed it to Royce, and said with a smile, "Mr. Greer, please have some tea."
Seeing her so gentle and obedient, Royce restrained his deep sorrow.
He took the teacup from her hand, sipped it lightly, and began to boast to Russell again, "Although Amelia was a painter, she's incredibly talented. She can even appraise ancient paintings. If you don't believe me, test her."
This was his real purpose for bringing Amelia.
Russell was skeptical and called the staff to bring some relief glass items.
Each staff member stood in front of Amelia with an item, lined up, waiting for her to identify the types.
Amelia took a relief glass from the first staff member.
After carefully examining it, she said softly, "The different depths and details of the relief effect indicate it's acid-etched relief glass."
Royce stroked his beard, glanced at Russell proudly, and raised his eyebrows meaningfully.
"Try another one, she might have guessed this one," Russell looked at Amelia.
Amelia took a relief glass item from the second staff member.
After carefully examining it again, she said, "The intricate and complex patterns and details show that this is fused relief glass."
Royce clicked his tongue in admiration, glanced at Russell again, and said proudly, "Amelia just became my apprentice yesterday, and I only taught her how to clean relief glass. Look at her, she knows everything, even acid-etched and fused relief glass."
Amelia smiled, "My grandfather's house has many books on relief glass, I loved reading them since I was a child."
Russell said in a disdainful tone, "Royce, what are you proud of? That's Carl's credit, what does it have to do with you?"
Royce didn't expect to be mocked instead of praised. He retorted, "Anyway, Amelia is my apprentice now, and I'm proud to have such an excellent apprentice!"
Amelia couldn't help but laugh. She didn't expected Royce to have such a childish personality, which was different from Carl's low-key, serious demeanor.
Then Amelia identified the types of relief glass in front of each staff member, which impressed Russell with her knowledge.
He gave a thumbs up and repeatedly praised, "Amelia is better than Sophia. Sophia only knows how to fly abroad to watch fashion shows, buy branded clothes and bags. She refuses to learn antique restoration and appraisal from me, saying it's an old man's job."
