Chapter 80 – She is Missing

SEBASTIAN.

Our relationship was going through a pretty severe crisis, but that won’t stop me from recovering the only woman who taught me to live. And the only woman who loved me and still does unconditionally.

Maybe yes, maybe I made the second big mistake of my life, telling her I would release her if she wanted to, but no more mistakes.

Suddenly, my senses went crazy. I felt uneasy, like I hadn’t felt in a long time, as if the danger was so close, I could reach it. The closer we got to GenetiX, the more this feeling amplified, and it drove me crazy. Liam was with me and we were heading to the office.

“Liam, something’s not right!”

Liam’s gaze darkened at first, and then worry appeared in his eyes.

“What exactly do you feel, Alpha?”

When he called me like that, I had good reason to believe that he also felt that something was wrong. We had arrived a little earlier in the morning, so there was no employee yet. But then Teresa’s scent was lingering all over.

“Teresa is here!” I said and headed for her office. Liam followed me.

But the office door was wide open to the wall. I went in looking everywhere, but no sign of her. “It seems she hasn’t left the office so long ago!” I said, touching the laptop, which was still warm. I turned my already worried gaze to Liam. “If she was here, and she isn’t now, where could she be?”

This uncertainty was killing me. That she disappeared like that without telling me anything broke me mentally.

“Hey man, don’t worry, you know the last time you lost her she went to talk to your sister. Maybe she did the same now!”

Liam’s theory was excellent, but it didn’t stand up. The laptop was too warm not to have been here, and she had no time to leave so quickly.

“You are right, but this time, it is not the case. She came here and recently, I feel that.”

I went crazy when I was looking for her and I couldn’t find her. This time, it was not so simple. Something had happened. My senses kept saying that to me.

Even the connection between us suffered. I didn’t feel very well the way she probably did when I made that ugly cut on my arm. The same feeling of fear; something had happened to her. Panic set in.

I tried to stay calm, but all the signs I could find made me think of what was worse. “Look, she didn’t finish drinking her coffee either. It’s still steamy!” I said and noticed the cup was half full and warm.

Not long ago, she stood at the office. But then I wondered what happened? Where did she go in such a hurry to leave her job and her coffee? I went out into the hall, trailing her smell, which grew stronger as we made our way to the lab.

My heart was pounding to pierce my chest. The closer I got, the greater the terror and worry were.

It was quiet in the lab. Dr. Antonov had not yet arrived. As soon as I walked through the entrance, a peculiar scent hit me, lingering throughout the entire room. I didn’t know what it smelled like; a faint scent of garlic mixed with something else I wasn’t sure about. “Do you smell it, Liam?” I asked, turning to him and then continuing on my way through the lab.

Behind the workbench, an irritating scene unfolded before my eyes. Broken test tubes, containers with various substances lying on the floor, everything looked like after the war. I froze and took a step back, hitting Liam lightly.

“God, what happened here?” Liam asked in astonishment, while looking over my shoulder. I stepped aside so he could see better. “I think someone fought someone in here,” he continued.

His finding surprised me, but also scared me. The only one that has been here this morning was Teresa. At a closer look, I saw her hair clip thrown on the floor. That was really weird. The only explanation was that she fell too, had lost her clip. But where was she?

“Liam, I have a bad feeling about all this!” I went beyond the workbench just to get a better view of what I was seeing.

It was definitely a fight in here, and now Teresa was gone.

“Come on, let’s look for her!” Liam concluded fiercely, his eyes becoming glowing red and his fangs were almost out.

I rummaged through the entire company, turned it upside down, but no sign of Teresa. It was as if the earth had swallowed her. I left no corner untouched, but I could find Teresa nowhere. I was worrying when suddenly a voice was trying to penetrate my mind. It was Vicky. She definitely felt my pain.

“Brother, I felt your despair a thousand miles away. What happened? Why is your heart crying?”

I was sure she would contact me as our bond was so strong that she could feel my every heavy breath. This was going to be so hard for me.

“Sis, I don’t know why, but something tells me that Teresa is in trouble,” I told her, looking around to see if there was something I had missed.

“Where are you, bro? And how do you feel about it? What happened?”

“This morning Teresa came very dirty, covered in blood, and so did her friend Caroline. She told me that the hellhounds attacked them again, but this time, she fought back. Then she took a shower and went to the company. We are not in very good relations yet. I came after her for a few minutes, hoping to find her in the office. No one had come yet. It was too early in the morning. I found the office door open, the coffee was still hot in the cup, and the laptop was still on. Her smell led me down to the lab. Then I thought maybe she was with Dr. Antonov and I calmed down. But when I went down and saw what that place looked like, I panicked. Broken test tubes are thrown on the floor and her hair clip as well. Then I suspected that something serious must have happened. This place looks like after a fight, Vicky. As if she were fighting someone.”

Maybe my voice was desperate, but I didn’t have another. I knew I would have to calm down if I wanted to find her and bring her home safe. “Vicky, from what this place looks like, I can tell you that Teresa has been kidnapped. My instinct tells me she was”

“Wow, calm down first! Other than the broken tubs, are there any signs which would make you think someone indeed kidnapped her?”

“Sis, she is nowhere in the company, her scent is fading away. And that she left her office like that…” the words simply did not come out.

My thoughts were mixed and I could find no other explanation for what I saw then that someone had kidnapped her.

“Ok, I got you, and if you need help to look for her, I am one link away. But do you have some kind of lead where whoever took her might have placed her?”

“No lead so far. I am going to have to listen to my instincts and follow her scent, at least to see in which direction that someone took her! Speaking of connections, you have something to tell me, don’t you?”

Just as she felt me, I too felt her uneasiness, and I knew she hadn’t contacted me just because I was in trouble. There was something else in the middle. Something else was bothering her.

“Yeah, Bash, there is something else. Remember when I told you that some girls from my village were attacked and kidnapped? Until recently, we didn’t know what our enemy looked like, but now I know. I investigated and I can tell you for sure that you are looking for someone petite, wavy, with long strawberry blond hair, fair skin, and bright green eyes, and I have to mention a very intelligent person. A distinctive thing is that whatever she walks, there is a perfume of lilies and wild strawberries that always leaves behind. She could take the form of a human, but she is a beast. Her soul was so rotten that she would have no remorse for hurting her own. And the most important fact and terrifying fact is that this woman that has risen against us is none other than our own blood Bash!”

Then silence. What I heard shocked me so much that I stopped breathing. How can anyone in our blood attack us like that? But that lily and strawberries scent? Why did I feel it was so familiar? And then it hit me.

“Oh my God, Vicky, are you sure of what you are telling me? Because this person has been right under my nose the entire time and I did not know!”
