Chapter 78 – I Would Not Give a Damn he is my Son!
NOAH.
Listening to my sister was the best I could have done. Because even if she was related to me by my mother’s side, she was still my little sister. I could hardly believe that mother was about to kill her and for what? To disobey her for not killing some innocent girls? This was low, even for her.
Now I have got her out of the dungeons and she asked me, more likely she begged me not to take her in town as she was afraid to face mother. I granted her a wish, and I just got her out of the woods.
“Don’t worry for me, big brother, I will be ok, I promise I will!” she cried in front of me with her eyes almost closed as she could barely cope with the sunlight.
Although the sun was almost setting, it was enough to bother her.
“I hope so, Neveh. I don’t really want to let you here, but if this is what you want, then so be it!”
Without thinking it too much, she held out her trembling hand and stroked my cheek. It was so comforting to feel that. I knew that maybe this was the last time I saw her, but I wanted what was best for her and if she thought that this would be her path, then I was going to set her free.
I asked her three times if she wanted to come with me. I would have found a place for her but she refused me, telling me between her sighs that her path in life was different. She had to make peace with a lot of things before she could start a new life.
I watched her go, slowly mingling with the sunset. It was like the sun was swallowing her piece by piece until there was nothing left. Only once she looked back at me, stood still for a few seconds, and then resumed her way.
Then something started to hurt. It was my soul of which a part was slowly detaching. God, it was excruciating. Only if I had known about these tortures earlier would I have acted earlier and maybe, just maybe, her soul was a complete piece.
I didn’t know how long I stayed there without moving to watch that figure disappear, then the sun that kidnapped her from me, and then this hostile fate that didn’t allow me to save her while there was still time.
I had to recover somehow because I would have to go to the company. That’s when my mother called. Thank God my sister was already gone.
“Noah, where are you?” she asked angrily, eager to know everything. I am sorry, mother, but this time you don’t really have to know everything.
“I’m close by so I will come, don't worry so much,” I reassured her in a fake way.
There was no way she would ever find out I was the one freeing my sister.
“Hurry, my discovery will blow you away.”
And so, she ended the conversation, a little happier than I thought she could ever be.
I was wondering if this was the same happiness, she would have shown Neveh as being her daughter.
Her discovery. I wonder what else she was up to? Lately, I did not like her discoveries at all. As I lied when I said I was around, I had to find another lie for being late. Thirty minutes later.
“You are late, Noah! You better have a good explanation!” she growled at me, but I thought no more lies and fears.
“Traffic!” I obviously defied her, seeing her face frown. I honestly didn't care if she believed me or not.
“Whatever. You know I don’t like being lied to, but I will forgive you this time!”
Was that why you didn’t forgive my sister for lying to you? I placed a sad thought in my mind. I could scream at her, asking her why she had done that? But she was dangerous. I could see that now.
And I didn’t want her to hurt the people inside this company, especially Teresa. She could manage Lettice with all that power I felt in her, but to be honest, I didn’t want to put her on a test.
But the reason she called me here was obviously another. She wanted me to help her make a serum that will wipe werewolves from the face of the earth.
Apparently, she didn’t care that I was one of them, so if things would go in that direction, I’ll be forced to choose a side, and it won’t be my mother’s.

LETTICE.
I was so pissed off because of Noah’s delay, but now I did not care. He was here, and I finally had what I had been looking for all this time.
Now I could fulfill my revenge in a heartbeat. All I needed was for my son to support me. Coming from him, I know what to expect. I trust him with my heart. He would never, ever betray me, not in this life and not in the afterlife.
“Son, come here! Let's not dwell on why you were late and instead enjoy some conversation. You already know the real reason I called you to the company. That is no secret. The secret is the serum you are going to help me create. Gallagher put me in charge of a kind of serum that would help his werewolves kill our hellhounds. He just doesn’t think I’m so ignorant as to fulfill his stupid wish. I have other plans. Look, my son, I give you ramsons.”
I took out of the drawer a flower with small, white, and sharp petals with a rather powerful smell. The smell didn't bother me at all, and my hellhounds didn't seem to mind it either. “I analyzed one hundred plants that were in contact with werewolf blood would do damage, but with hellhound blood, we would become stronger, almost immortal. This tiny flower does two things at once, annihilates werewolves, and offers unsuspected powers to us, the hellhounds, so I suggest to you, Noah, to stay away from this serum. You are no good to me dead!”
I could feel myself being filled with happiness at the thought that very little separated us from the extinction of these beasts. We were clearly superior to them, and the food chain could not keep everyone. Only the strongest survived.
“This little flower can do so much damage?” Noah asked in a curious tome, coming closer to the bank where I was working.
“It, as a flower, no, but the exact yes, the fragrance I am going to create mixed with werewolf blood and vampire blood, would do the trick. I will not mix the pure iron as I don’t want the blood to fight back, increasing its properties. Instead, I am going to use vampire blood as I have a couple of annoying vampires around me, I don’t like!” I observed his facial expression.
What he did not know is that Teresa’s blood is another missing ingredient, but for me to take it, I need to take her away from here and from Gallagher. So, this white plant would be my answer regarding her. It was going to be enough only for the fragrance left in the lab for her to feel weak and for me to do my trick.
“So, this mixture would be deadly for vampires too…”
I knew my son well enough to recognize his worried expression and for whom.
“Not quite. Hold your horses. It will only weaken them, that is all. But who knows who our enemy would turn out to be before the end of all this war? So, I need to be prepared.”
“Where did you find it, mother?” His curiosity annoyed me, but I would answer every question.
It was enough time to find out where so much interest in topics that should be of no importance to him.
The preparations lasted over two hours. I had everything ready before he came, so now it went quickly. He was watching my every move, but for some reason, he hadn’t laid one single finger to help me.
Good thing he was at least present. His behavior about this serum intrigued me very much. He seemed curious about the flower, not so much as to want to help me; he seemed so worried that the serum might hurt the vampires that he didn’t think it could hurt him just as easily.
But that was another story with a different ending. Until then, I had the serum in my hands. I looked at it triumphantly as my greatest achievement.
“Our new era has begun, my son! Now I could really say that the strongest would survive.”
I knew I placed some doubt in Noah’s heart, and I was happy I did it. Now it would not be hard for him to choose his side and he would better choose wisely or I would not give a damn. He was my son!
