Chapter 20
Chapter 20
The throbbing in Dylan’s head was not making anything better and no matter how gently he massaged his temples it didn't let up. He knew this but he still continued to scroll on his phone, trying to absorb everything he saw on screen. For the past hour, he had been scrolling through social media. The news of everything that happened outside his house had blown up and barely gave him time to breathe as someone would post their opinion every second.
It had been two weeks since the incident and Dylan had done as much as he could to keep it from spreading but the internet was too fast, even for his money. Celebrity newsrooms and fan accounts would relentlessly share their thoughts on the entire situation. As expected, the public got wind of everything that happened and once again Vivienne was public enemy number one. A lot of people were calling Marianne an angel for dropping the charges against Vivienne while others agreed with her receptionists and called the decision foolish.
He was also getting praise for now stepping up to defend Vivienne. Many people speculated that he was finally done with her and came to his senses at last. But that was the farthest thing from the truth.
Vivienne was more or less aware of everything that was happening but she ignored it like she always does. It was like a normal occurrence that Vivienne would be trending due to something she did and like it was a routine she would never give any attention to the situation. She never addressed anything on her social media or responded to comments. Vivienne just continued to live her life as usual and post an obscene amount of pictures weekly. If anything it seemed like she enjoyed the extra attention, but she never said that. She would try her best to ignore everything but once and a while he would hear her exclaim, shocked at a comment that was probably bashing their relationship. But she never replied to any.
The only other thing that made her upset was losing followers and that really made her pout. Because of the messy trail of scandals she had behind her, Vivienne was just passing the one million mark for the number of followers she had. Dylan was shocked that she had more than a hundred thousand, but there seemed to be people who simply did not care and liked her regardless.
Dylan sighed and leaned his head back against the wall of his window seat. It was his little escape in their house. His office was somewhere Vivienne did not come often because he made it clear to her that it was his private space and she was not supposed to enter. Of course, before she agreed she had thrown a tantrum and may have thrown a book or two but he put his foot down on that one thing. He needed some breathing room and alone time and so he got it here.
His hand fell on his lap as his eyes drifted away from his phone and to the outside where he watched the purple sky along with the setting sun. He was sure outside was still hot eleven though the sun was setting. It was late April and did not look forward to the summers in Los Angeles. It meant sticky humid air that drove everyone crazy. Dylan was always tempted to move or travel during those times but his father would definitely need him and so he could not go anywhere.
Maybe one of these days, he would get to spend a summer in the Netherlands, away from all of the bustle of Hollywood.
But even with everything going on, he still could not run away like he wanted to. Especially with his wedding coming up. At that thought, his heart jumped. He was getting married. He was getting married to Vivienne. Messy scandals and all, there was still a part of him that wanted to marry her. He just hoped that maybe could help her before that happened or maybe she would get some sense once she got pregnant and all those maternal instincts kicked in.
Dylan shook his head free of the thought and got up from his spot. Recently Vivienne came to him with a concern of hers. Although it was not what he was expecting. She wanted to get married, in a month, and had already gone ahead and planned and booked everything, without his consent. With everything that had been going on, Dylan was not even surprised at that point. He didn't have the energy to deny her and simply accepted the fact this their wedding would be way earlier than he planned. His father would definitely not be too happy about it.
But the more he thought it over the more he realized that it was better for him to get married sooner rather than later. So that he did not come to regret engaging her. Vivienne has probably done it for the same reason. Dylan was felt his heart squeeze when he thought that it could have been a possibility, Vivienne could have been insecure, thinking that he did not love her and that if they got married soon then she would finally have him. It made him think if she thought he did not love her. Was it because of how he was acting recently, or how he reacted when she did something that annoyed him? Everything he had been doing recently was for the benefit of her and their relationship. He hoped she knew that.
A few days after the incident Dylan went down to Marianne's office with Vivienne to apologize. He even brought her a giant fruit basket decorated with the prettiest arrangement of flowers.
Everything about it screamed tropical and fancy. So he picked out the most expensive one for her and brought sincere apologies along with it. He did not expect that she would see them and more so forgive Vivienne but she did. It seemed like those couple of days really helped her to calm down as he hoped. Marianne told them that she would continue seeing them on the condition that Vivienne saw her one more time each week for an hour.
Vivienne accepted with few complaints. It had been some time since those sessions started and Vivienne had not really spoken to him about them. He was sure that they were personal and about her past which she always refused to share with him. Dylan was kind of envious that Marianne probably knew about it and he didn't but he quickly swallowed any of those feelings down, knowing that she was just doing her job. And after he was impressed that she was able to get her to talk about her thoughts and feelings.
Dylan left his office and wandered through the quiet house. Vivienne had been home when he went into his office but he guessed that she had gone out. With the wedding so close it seemed like she had a million things to do. He was not sure what those things were but did not ask. They were actually leaving to go to the wedding destination next week. So she was probably rounding up off of her friends and makings sure to know who was coming. They were going a month before the wedding before she wanted to have full-on celebrations on the resort that they booked. And two weeks prior to the wedding the entire resort was booked for the wedding only. No one other than the parties involved with the wedding could go in, which meant they had the entire thing to themselves basically.
He had asked her why they could not just go when the two weeks started but she insisted that she wanted to experience all of the fun things going on at the hotel as well as having it privately. And with all of Vivienne's A-Class celebrity money, she was able to do just that. Dylan did feel slightly bad for not paying for anything but she had gone and booked everything without telling him so it was not his fault.
The day had been a slow one and he did not have any work from his father so he just lounged around, and that was probably where his headache came from. Once he reached the kitchen, as quietly as possible he looked for medicine, before he took it with some water.
After he just went up to his room and laid on the bed. Dylan listened to the silence of the house and relaxed in the cool bed.
The curtains were pulled and the lights were off. The only sign that there was still light outside was the sunlight that peeked through the small areas of the window that the curtains did not reach. It was awfully peaceful and Dylan fell asleep faster than he could realize.
