Chapter 110 Wrapped Around Her Little Finger
Chapter 110 Wrapped Around Her Little Finger
The hard, biting anger in Leona's voice echoed in the marble hallway. Up on Owen's chest, Olive instantly stopped playing with the silk tie.
The toddler's brow furrowed. She looked down at the crying stranger, and then over at her mother's fierce expression. Sensing the heavy tension and the protective anger radiating from Leona, Olive immediately wanted the ultimate comfort. She leaned away from Owen, stretching her chubby little arms urgently toward her mother.
"Momma," Olive demanded softly.
Leona didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second. She reached out, effortlessly taking the toddler from Owen's massive hands and settling the little girl securely on her own hip. Olive immediately wrapped her arms around Leona's neck, burying her face against her mother's shoulder, completely safe and fiercely guarded.
Seeing the two of them together like that, the breath completely hitched in Tiffany's throat.
Tiffany stared at the beautiful, strong woman holding the toddler. Her sunken eyes widened as she took in Olive's dark, curly hair, the shape of her eyes, and the undeniable, physical bond between them. The absolute reality of the situation crashed over the hollowed-out woman all at once.
"Leona..." Tiffany choked out, a ragged, wet sob tearing from her chest. "She looks just like you."
Tiffany swallowed hard, her shoulders completely dropping in absolute, crushing defeat. She had abandoned a baby, but Leona had raised a daughter. The blood of Chad and Leona ran through that little girl's veins, but it was Leona and Owen's unshakeable devotion that had actually built her a life.
Tiffany wiped a trembling hand across her cheek, finally accepting the devastating truth.
"I truly am sorry for what I did," Tiffany whispered, the apology raw and entirely final. She offered one last, heartbreaking look at the little girl she had left behind. "And I see... she is right where she belongs."
Before Leona could respond, the brass elevator doors slid open with a soft chime. Owen placed his hand firmly on the small of Leona's back, gently guiding his wife and his daughter into the elevator car with the rest of their family, leaving the ghost of Chad's past standing entirely alone in the hallway.
The brass doors of the elevator slid shut with a soft chime, completely cutting off the sight of Tiffany standing alone in the marble hallway.
As the car descended to the ground floor, the heavy, suffocating weight of the past few weeks finally dissolved entirely. By the time the family walked out the front doors of the courthouse and into the crisp city air, the "Olive Green Army" was vibrating with a profound, triumphant relief.
Waiting at the curb were the two sleek, black Zenith town cars.
The logistics were simple—they loaded up exactly as they had arrived. Owen securely fastened Hazel's infant carrier into the back of the first car before gently helping Leona and a babbling Olive into the spacious cabin. Thomas and Diane immediately slid into the plush seats opposite them, completely unwilling to be separated from their granddaughters for even a single second after such a massive victory.
Right behind them, the rest of their united front—Claire, David, Tate, Ben, Sarah, and Maya—piled enthusiastically into the second town car, ready to follow their lead.
As Owen settled into the seat next to Leona, pulling her close against his side, he looked across the cabin at his parents. He then looked down at Olive, who was happily kicking her feet against the leather seat.
"We are absolutely not going home yet," Owen declared to the car, the ruthless CEO completely replaced by a fiercely happy father. He flashed his devastating dimples at the toddler. "We have a legal victory to celebrate."
Since the undisputed guest of honor was currently chewing on her pacifier, a Michelin-star restaurant was entirely out of the question.
Half an hour later, the two town cars pulled up to the curb, and the impeccably tailored family walked through the glass doors of a chaotic, neon-lit, kid-centered arcade and restaurant. The sheer visual contrast of the CEO, his father, and their family stepping onto the brightly patterned carpet in thousand-dollar suits decked out with crisp olive green shirts, was absolutely comical.
But Owen, Thomas, Tate, David, and Ben didn't care in the slightest.
Almost immediately, the five men completely abandoned their dignified, high-society personas and took over the arcade floor. Olive was in absolute toddler heaven. She didn't even have to walk; she was simply passed seamlessly between her Dad, her Grandpa Thomas, and her Uncles Tate, David, and Ben as they moved from game to game.
"Okay, sweet pea, you ready?" Owen asked, holding a thrilled Olive securely on his hip so she could reach the steering wheel of a brightly colored racing game. "Hit this button right here. Wait for it... now!"
Olive slammed her chubby little hands down on the wheel, shrieking with bright laughter as the brightly colored cars zoomed across the screen. The timer quickly ran out, and large, flashing letters spelling GAME OVER - 8TH PLACE flashed across the monitor.
It didn't matter in the slightest. Olive immediately threw both of her hands high into the air, a massive, gap-toothed grin taking over her face.
"Me win!" she announced triumphantly to the entire arcade.
"You sure did, sweet pea," Owen agreed instantly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "First place."
"My turn, hand the champion over," Tate laughed, easily scooping his niece out of his brother's arms. He carried her over to the miniature basketball hoops, where David, Ben, and Thomas were already waiting with a pile of colorful basketballs.
"Here you go, Ollie," Ben grinned, handing her a bright pink basketball.
Tate lifted Olive high into the air. "Alright, let's see it! Throw it right in the hoop!"
With her uncles cheering her on and her Grandpa ready to catch the rebound, Olive threw the ball with all her toddler might. It completely missed the hoop, bouncing harmlessly off the rim.
Without missing a beat, Olive threw her arms back up in the air. "Me win!" she giggled happily.
The five men in their tailored suits erupted into loud, booming cheers like she had just sunk a game-winning shot in the NBA Finals. Ben and Thomas high-fived her tiny hands, while David completely agreed it was the best throw he'd ever seen. The sight of five incredibly handsome, wealthy men completely making fools of themselves and happily conceding every single game to a tiny girl in her olive green dress had the entire restaurant captivated.
A few yards away, safely out of the chaos, the ladies had claimed a large corner booth. Leona sat with Diane, Claire, Sarah, and Maya, keeping Hazel tucked safely in her car seat on the inside of the table. A young waitress stepped up to drop off a pitcher of lemonade, pausing to watch Owen hoist Olive onto his broad shoulders, holding her ankles securely while she proudly declared "Me win!" at a Skee-Ball machine, with Ben and Tate hyping her up from the sides.
The waitress shook her head, a soft, incredibly fond smile taking over her face. "I've worked here a long time," she remarked gently to the women at the table. "But I have to say... what an incredibly special little girl she must be, to have that many strong men wrapped around her little finger."
Leona looked across the arcade at her husband and her family. The nightmare of the courtroom was entirely behind them.
"She is," Leona agreed, her voice thick with overwhelming love. "She is the most special girl in the world. And they would completely scorch the earth for her."
