Chapter 34 Dealing with Beth

Chapter 34 Dealing with Beth
I pick up my sister who isn't much bigger than I am and carefully carry her downstairs. The one thing about being a ballerina, we are stronger than we look. And even though I haven't stepped a toe on a stage in 5 years, it doesn't mean I don't exercise regularly... when Beth and her spawn are not around.

"Why the hell isn't she at the hospital?" I demand the moment I see my aunt, who is still pouting. She finally seemed to get to her feet and she just stares at me with her arms folded across her chest.

"Why the hell should I waste MY Money on her? She'll be fine!" Beth argues. "I told you you were all burdens! I should not have to deal with all this stress!"

"She's burning up! She is your sister's daughter! Everly would be ashamed of what you did to her children!" I seethe. "I hope to hell Mom comes back to haunt you in your dreams tonight!" I growl.

"Don't you dare say her name to me!" she shrieks. "That is my sister you are talking about!"

"WHY? Because she was the better twin? Because she loved you and this is how you betray her? You let her daughter's rot and steal from them? She would hate you!" I growl. "Some day, Beth, you will get what is coming to you, and I pray to God I'm around to see it when it happens!"

"You little piece of shit! Get the hell outta my house!" Beth rages, grabbing one of her new vases and hurling it at a wall above my head.

"Liv, get the door!" I state, staring down my evil aunt. I'm not going to forget this any time soon. I'm this close to calling the cops and letting them deal with her, but then me and my sisters will be homeless. I know Jay would kick us out in a heart beat.

I don't have time to sit here and argue with my deranged aunt. She can sit there and scream and throw her tantrum all she wants. I don't have to stick around and watch it. I have better things to do. Like being an actual good sister.

Charlie shivers the moment the night air hits her. "I'm sorry, honey. I'm gonna get you help. I promise! Just hang in there with me for a bit. You can sleep in the car."

I put her in the backseat of my car and make sure she's buckled up. I have an old Toyota. I don't use it very often unless I have to. I prefer walking, but there is no way that would work right now.

Beth had demanded to know how the hell I paid for the thing the first time she saw me parking it in her driveway, but Hailey, my savior, just told her it was her daughters and she was getting rid of it. She told Beth I needed a car in case of emergencies.

Well, this was an emergency! I really didn't have the luxury of calling an ambulance to pick her up. I was barely going to be able to pay for the cost of the visit in the first place.

"You coming, Liv?" I asked my sister, who seemed to be frozen, looking at Charlie.

She looks between me and Aunt Beth before she nods her head and pops in the front seat. I don't even think Liv wanted to deal with my crazy aunt tonight.

I turn my key and thank God it turns over. It's been a couple days since I started it, and sometimes it kills the battery, especially in the colder weather. The cold air blasts through the AC vents, but I really don't have time to sit around and wait for it to warm up.

The hospital isn't that far. It only takes us 15 minutes before I pull up to the ER and carry my sister into the building.

One of the attendants noticed me and grabbed her a wheelchair. "Here let me help," He says with a smile. "She looks too heavy for you to carry," he jokes.

"Thanks," I sigh in relief as I set her in the chair.

Poor Charlie is still shivering to death and coughing. But at least her eyes are open... Though she's struggling to keep them that way. She looks like she'd love nothing more than to just sleep.

I wheel her over to the seating area as the man who brought out the wheelchair comes over with the check-in papers and a tired smile.

"We'll need you to fill out her medical information and insurance, and we'll get her back as soon as possible," he said handing me a bunch of paperwork.
