Chapter 224 Sharing Information
"You've got no idea how many times I wanted to knock him out myself!" Sean grumbles bringing me back to the present as they drag his body back to the security room. I guess they need to talk to him while he's awake (which he isn't) before they call the cops.
"Come with me," Rick states, clapping on my shoulder and leading me down a separate hallway. "We've got business to go over."
"I couldn't agree more!" I sigh, totally ready to get this done with and save my sweet Angel from the demon in the kitchen- I mean, Jeff.
When we get to Rick's office, he closes the door behind us, not because he's worried about the security team hearing us, but he doesn't want the girls hearing us.
"Take a seat," he offers as he leans his hip against the large wooden desk. Rick is a big guy, bigger than me. It's almost intimidating looking up at him like this. But the relaxed expression on his face as me at ease. He's not going to do anything to me, I know that.
I drop into the seat and sigh in relief. I gotta admit, I like the leather chairs. Very classy.
"Now, tell me. What did you find out at your house," he starts, folding his arms across his chest and giving me his full attention. He's not wasting any time, and I appreciate that.
"Well, I searched my dad's computer," I say bringing out my phone. "And what I found was this," I say handing it to him. "I can send you copies of any of this stuff if you need it. This was the best I could do in the short time, though," I explain.
"Good job! Yes, I'll be sending these to myself, if you don't mind," he responded sending the files to his email, I'm assuming.
"Dad moved us all to a new house about 10 years ago, claiming he got a promotion. The house was paid off already. I thought it was from his job, but his bank statements say otherwise. He's getting payments from an outside source that I don't know how to trace," I state.
I watch as Rick goes through the documents on my phone, nodding along as he examines the evidence.
"And what's this?" He asks, showing me the phone. I'm not surprised he asked about that. I was confused too.
"I don't know. But I'm not sure why the hell my dad needs and encrypted file on his computer. I was hoping you knew a guy?" I ask. "I have a feeling it's important, or Dad wouldn't have had it."
Rick sends me a lethal smirk. "You bet I do! Don't worry, Trent. We'll figure all this out together. I'm sorry to say, we may be incriminating your own father and sending him to prison, though."
I knew this, and strangely, I'm at peace with it. If he gets put away from something he did, especially if he was trying to hurt my girl, then he deserves it.
Then he flips to another file and he freezes. "I've got this file... well, most of it. I don't have the attachment," he mumbles going over the police report. "So, he's being paid off to keep his trap shut... FUCK!" he snarls.
He must've seen the names. "I knew Braxton Davis was a piece of shit, but I didn't know why he's so obsessed with Liv, I guess it was his dad's idea for him to date her... I'm assuming you didn't tell her yet?"
"I haven't had the chance to. I know Charlie wants to tell her, but I'm worried if she knows, it might be dangerous for her. There is no telling what Braxton will do if she suddenly breaks up with him," I explain.
"Shit! You're right! Right now, we'll just let things stand as they are, but we are going to be keeping a fucking close eye on that boy!" Rick snarls. "I don't want him anywhere near any of the girls! He's dangerous, and I don't trust him or his father!"
I only nod, because I agree. There is no telling what he is capable of, and I really don't want to find out. I really don't know what the hell Logan Davis has to do with all of this, but we are going to find out.
But unfortunately, I've gotta get back to school tomorrow. I can't stick around and keep an eye out for Braxton. Rick is gonna have to hold the line while I'm gone.
We are going to have to keep a close eye on him. We need to make sure all the girls are safe, including a reluctant Olivia.
