Chapter 334 What If

Chapter 334 What If

Xandra looked at her, "What's wrong?"

Lenora had been bottling everything up lately, with no one she could really talk to.

Since Xandra was her good friend, she didn't treat her like an outsider.

"Every time Sunny has contact with the Davis family, he comes back with this resistance toward me. I can't shake the feeling the Davis family is deliberately saying terrible things about me right in front of him, putting all sorts of crazy ideas into his head that his stepmother is going to hurt him."

Hearing this, Xandra's frown deepened.

"How could the Davis family do such a thing?"

Lenora said, "Maybe they're genuinely worried I'll mistreat Sunny?"

"Really?"

Xandra didn't think so. "I get the feeling they're hoping you and Philip split up, so he can marry Jules as his second wife—stepping into her sister's shoes and taking over Sunny's care."

Lenora gave a mocking laugh. "If Jules were decent, I wouldn't mind. But if push comes to shove, I'd just divorce Phil and get out of the way. But you've met Jules. Do you think she's easy to get along with? Could someone like her ever really take good care of Sunny?"

Of course not!

That Jules had bad intentions.

Even knowing Philip was remarried, she still had designs on him.

Could such a woman be expected to raise Sunny well?

If she actually married Philip, God only knows what she might do to Sunny later on, all for his money.

Xandra was thinking this when she noticed Lenora's mocking smile and snapped back to attention.

"Wait, Lenora, why are you thinking about divorcing Philip? Is he not treating you well?"

Lenora's smile seemed forced.

"No, he treats me well. But Xandy, you should understand—life can't handle too much drama."

Xandra thought about what her friend had said about Jules now being Philip's assistant, and probed, "Jules is glued to Philip's side every day, and he just lets it happen—trying to have the best of both worlds?"

"He might not have crossed the line yet, but Jules is definitely making a move."

Lenora paused. "What if Phil slips up and something happens between them... The very thought of it drains me."

Xandra frowned and glanced at the man talking to Frederick, thinking those two cousins really were cut from the same cloth.

Even the women around them were similar types.

She reached out and held Lenora's hand.

"Lenora, marriage needs maintenance. You need to be straight with him. Just tell him directly that you don't like Jules hanging around him, and see what he says."

Lenora said, "If I say that, he'll definitely laugh at me for overthinking."

Xandra said, "Tell him seriously that men and women need boundaries, and you don't like seeing him get too close to Jules."

Lenora shook her head. "I'm not going to say anything. Whatever he does, I don't care."

Xandra wouldn't let her avoid it. "Don't be like that, Lenora. Men sometimes have the mentality of children. If you don't show you care about him, he'll get careless and let himself go."

Lenora stayed quiet, looking thoughtful.

Xandra continued, "Let me tell you something. Remember Anya?"

"Yeah, I remember."

"She had her eye on my husband too. I had a deep talk with Fred about it, showed just a little jealousy, and he transferred Anya away."

"And we even set Anya up with a guy who likes her. So you see, couples need to be honest with each other. Don't assume things. If there's a problem, clear it up quickly to avoid misunderstandings."

Lenora looked at her with a teasing smile.

"Who would've thought, Xandy, you've become a relationship expert?"

Xandra raised her eyebrows, not being modest at all. "Thanks for the compliment."

Lenora laughed and pinched her cheek. "You're shameless!"

Xandra pulled her hand down. "I'm being serious. Did you take it in?"

Lenora thought for a moment and nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to you."

"That's right."

Xandra's eyes curved in a smile. Just then, her stomach started growling.

Her expression froze as she held her belly, somewhat speechless.

"I'm hungry again! I ate so much this morning, how can I be hungry again?"

Lenora glanced at her. "Suddenly eating more—could you be pregnant?"

"How is that possible? Shouldn't early pregnancy make you unable to eat and throw up constantly?"

Xandra thought about when she first got pregnant with the triplets—she couldn't eat anything and was throwing up terribly.

That's why she had to drop out of school.

But wait, her period seemed to be half a month late...

"Not necessarily. Let me check you." Lenora smiled.

Xandra thought about her missed period, her heart skipping a beat.

Could she really be pregnant?

After Lenora finished examining her, she quickly asked, "Lenora, how is it?"

Lenora smiled. "Congratulations, you're going to be a mother again."

She really was pregnant!

Xandra looked down, her hand instinctively moving to her belly.

She remembered four years ago when she found out she was pregnant—hopeful yet helpless.

This time, with Frederick by her side, she only felt hope, no helplessness!

Xandra looked up at Frederick standing not far away.

In the sunlight, the man's tall figure radiated a reassuring masculine presence.

She smiled. She and he were having a child!

"Aren't you going to tell your husband the good news?" Lenora smiled.

"No rush. I'll tell him when we get home."

Over there.

Philip looked at Frederick, frowning deeply. "Fred, are you really going to do this?"

"Yeah." Frederick responded lightly.

Philip's lips moved, hesitating.

His cousin had just announced he planned to hand Lucas the position of head of the Russell Group.

Though they'd casually discussed this topic before, he'd always thought Frederick was just talking.

But now...

"Fred, Lucas is capable, but compared to you, he's still far behind," Philip said.

Frederick patted his shoulder. "You're still at the company. With your support, I believe the company will be the same as before even without me."

Philip forced a smile. "Don't try to flatter me. I'm not buying it."

Frederick smiled silently without speaking.

In his line of sight, he saw Jennifer heading toward the restroom.

He said, "I'm going to the restroom."

Philip acknowledged and watched his tall figure, sighing.

His older cousin was really going this far for Xandra?

Willingly giving up the position of head of the group meant giving up tremendous wealth and power.

Not just anyone could do that.

...

Jennifer went to the restroom, and when she came out, she saw Frederick standing outside.

She got angry just seeing him and coldly prepared to leave.

"Aunt Jennifer, let's talk." Frederick said calmly.

"What do I have to talk to you about?" Jennifer said.

"Let's talk about the position of head of the Russell Group."
