Chapter 327 Eating Too Much Fruit
Chapter 327 Eating Too Much Fruit
After Donald left, Xandra brought a plate of fruit into the study.
"Donald left so quickly?"
Frederick raised an eyebrow slightly. "What do you want to ask?"
Xandra set down the fruit. "Of course I want to ask about your dear sister—how is she doing today?"
Frederick chuckled. "Honey, let's go find Lenora when we get back home."
Xandra was confused. "What for?"
Frederick said, "She does hypnosis. I want to ask her for a favor - to erase something I said."
Xandra got it immediately and asked deliberately, "Which thing you said is bothering you so much?"
Was it bothering him?
Wasn't he just worried it would bother her?
"Honey, what do you think?"
Xandra made a sound and speared a piece of fruit, holding it to his lips.
"Just eat some fruit."
Frederick laughed, pulled her onto his lap, and ate the fruit Xandra offered him.
"I’ve just mapped out their future for them."
"How did you plan it?"
Frederick told her about the decision he'd just made.
Xandra blinked. "You're making Anya Donald's assistant?"
"Yeah, spending time together day in and day out is the quickest way for feelings to grow.."
Frederick said, "Of course, the catch is that Donald needs to have what it takes to win Anya over."
Xandra tilted her head to look at him. His Adam's apple bobbed - very sexy.
"Why do I get the feeling you don't really believe Donald has that kind of charm?"
Frederick didn't deny it. "It’s a tall order. After all, he’s got me to live up to."
Xandra rolled her eyes at him. "Narcissist."
Frederick's chest moved, and his slender fingers lifted her delicate chin.
"I may be full of myself, but I’m far more devoted."
The man's eyes were deep, like a dark pool that could easily pull someone in.
Xandra pulled his hand away. "See? Eating fruit has its perks—just look how sweet your lips taste?"
"How about you be sweet too?"
Frederick held the back of her head and lowered his lips to kiss her.
Xandra couldn't escape and could only half-resist.
Just then, Frederick's phone rang.
Xandra pushed him. "Phone."
Frederick reluctantly let go and picked up his phone from the desk.
The call was from Anya.
Xandra leaned against him, steadying her slightly rapid breathing, and naturally saw the caller ID too.
She glanced at Frederick but didn't say anything.
Frederick answered the call and put it on speaker.
"Hello?"
"Ray, I just got a notice from HR telling me to go be Donald's secretary. Did you give that order?"
Anya could barely hide her excitement.
Frederick's voice was flat. "Yes, I gave the order. If you've rested enough, come back to work."
"Why are you making me Donald's secretary?" Anya's voice rose a few notches.
Frederick said, "Donald's quite capable. I want to train him well so he can help share my burden."
"Is that all?"
"What other reason do you think there is?"
"Ray, did Donald say something to you? Are you trying to push me toward him?"
Hearing Anya's somewhat hysterical questioning, Frederick said, "Anya, calm down. I made this decision after careful consideration."
"I'm constantly traveling between home and abroad. Besides you, I need a few more trusted people around me. Donald is excellent in every way - he has potential."
Anya cried out, "Ray, stop beating around the bush. Just tell me - did he say something to you? Are you trying to play matchmaker?"
Frederick was silent for a moment and didn't deny it.
"Yes, I know Donald likes you, and I do hope you two can be together."
Anya's breathing quickened. "Ray, did Xandra whisper in your ear? She just wants me out of the way, so she put this idea in your head?"
At this, Frederick's expression turned cold. "Anya, Xandra is my wife. If you still consider me your brother, please show her some respect."
Anya didn't speak, but her heavy breathing showed she was still listening.
Frederick softened his tone. "Anya, I think of you as my real sister, and Xandra thinks of you as a real sister too. We both hope you can be happy."
Anya didn't respond. She gripped her phone tightly, her heart full of frustration.
Real sister?
Who cares about being his real sister?
And trying to set her up with Donald?
If he really thought of her as a real sister, he wouldn't just randomly set her up with some guy!
Anya hung up and, still angry, swept everything on the table onto the floor.
Just then, her phone rang.
She glanced at it and saw it was Donald calling.
Thinking about how she'd have to be this person's assistant from now on made her even angrier.
She answered the call and immediately let loose.
"Donald, did you say something in front of them? What are you up to? I really didn't expect you to be so scheming!"
Donald was silent for a moment, then said, "Anya, today Mr. Flores asked me if I liked you, and I admitted it."
Anya laughed coldly. "You like me? You think Ray values me, so you want to use me to climb up, right? Donald, you're shameless!"
Donald said, "Anya, I never thought that way. Don't slander me."
Anya wouldn't listen. "Stop pretending in front of me. Did they make a deal with you? As long as you pursue me, they'll make you the company's general manager?"
Donald sighed. "Anya, why do you have to think the worst of people? I never made any deal with Mr. Flores or Mrs. Flores."
"And Mr. Flores isn't a foolish ruler. He's wise and perceptive and knows how to use people well. He's promoting me to general manager because he thinks I can handle the job."
Anya laughed coldly again, clearly not believing him.
Donald said, "Anyway, I'm calling to tell you that I'm going on a business trip tomorrow, and you're coming with me."
At this, Anya was dismissive. "You want me to go on a business trip with you? Who do you think you are?"
Donald's tone became more serious. "Anya, I'm not joking with you. You're my secretary now, and I'm just notifying you. If you can't handle the job, I'll report to HR and make the appropriate statement. We'll see if they need to transfer you."
"You..."
"Or are you really planning to give up and not work anymore?"
Before Anya could argue back, Donald added, "A lot of the company's business came from your hard work connecting with clients. Are you willing to give up what you've worked for all these years?"
Anya took the bait. "When did I say I was quitting?"
"Good. Tomorrow at 9:30 AM, see you at the office."
Donald finished speaking and hung up without giving Anya a chance to argue back.
Anya stared at her phone screen, so angry she wanted to smash it.
This man - how did he become like a different person?
Giving her orders, Acting like he owns the place!
On the other end, Donald swallowed and let out a long breath.
What he just said - that was okay, right?
He really wanted to record it and have Mr. Flores listen to it and give him some advice!
