Chapter 152

Chapter 152
Asher

I was sitting in my office, and Detective Bryson was in the chair opposite me. “I can’t understand this. First, Emelda Sterling disappears in transit to the jail, and now Celeste Sterling and Sophia Bloomfield have disappeared the same way. The officers transporting them were hit by unmarked vehicles. They didn’t hurt any of the police; they just ran them off the road, held them up, and got the women out. According to one of the officers, he heard the man whisper to Ms. Bloomfield that he was there to rescue them. It’s been one week now, and there’s no sign of them,” he said with frustration.

“Well, find them, because if they come after my wife or my child again, this time I won’t hesitate to kill them,” I said, looking at him. He stood up and looked at me.
“Sure. I’m going to visit the Bloomfields,” he said before walking out. After he left, I just sat there. It’s been three weeks since the whole ordeal, and everything has settled down now. Life was settling into a routine. A week ago, we went to the island to visit my mother. Her health was deteriorating rapidly. I had a doctor fly out to check her over, and he said he couldn’t do anything. When I left the office at five, Leon was there waiting. I got into the car, and we left.

“Leon, take me there.”
“Yes, Boss,” he said. We drove the short distance over to the security detail complex. When we got there, he drove straight into the garage and parked. I got out and walked over to the panel and pushed it open. When I walked in, Kira, Celeste, and Sophia were chained to the floor in their cells. I stood looking at them. Since they were brought here a week ago, no one had come to see them.

“I guess Kira already told you. Well, she probably explained who I am and what it means that you’re here.” I asked, looking at them. Kira looked defeated. I looked at Sophia and Celeste; they were quiet. “Why her?” Sophia asked quietly.

“Because it was her. She’s the only one that made me feel,” I said. I heard the footsteps behind me and knew she was here. She came and stood beside me and looked at them.

“I would have made you suffer, tortured you, but I don’t want or need your blood on my hands. You’ll stay here and reflect on your life. The choices you made, the people you hurt, the lies you told. You’ll have all the time in the world to reflect on it. Do better in your next lives,” she said, looking at them.

“Don’t worry, you won’t starve; you’ll die on your own. Your guilt will eat away at you slowly. This is the last time you will see me or my wife. We won’t ever return here. Goodbye.”
“Wait, please. Dorian, please,” Sophia begged.

“Please? You didn’t hesitate to kill me or my fucking child; why should I spare you? You should have fucking left when you were told to leave,” I said, grabbing my wife’s hand and walking out. I stood looking at her.

“Where is Adriel?” I asked as I caressed her face.
“Olivia, Eli, Mathew, Grace, and the others are here. Martha is also here. Liam and Miles set a date for their wedding in a week. I left Olivia, Lana, Grace, and Liam fighting over him,” she said with a smile.

“Okay, then let’s make sure our headache has a grand wedding, or we’ll never hear the end of it,” I said, kissing her. “I’ll meet you at home,” she said, smiling as she got into the car, and Ron drove out. When I got home, it was a full-out party and barbeque.

I just shook my head. Miles came to me and handed me a beer. “Have they tried to contact you?” I asked him. “Nope, and that’s all I want,” he said. I saw Liam walking towards us with Adriel.

“Dada,” he said, and I almost dropped the beer. Everyone was left looking.
“What did you say, buddy? Can you say that again?” Liam asked him.

“Dada,” he said.
“He can speak!” Freya said, trying to take him, and Liam handed him to me.
“Dada.” “That’s right, buddy,” I said, kissing him.
“So much for raising him,” Sky said, and Martha and Grace laughed.

“Hey, our kids’ first words were ‘Dada, and he didn’t do shit,” Grace said, throwing a towel at Mathew. We stayed out there and relaxed. Whoever didn’t pass out drunk was on the way there. Adriel fell asleep hours ago and was in my arms.

When I walked into our room at three, he was still awake and sitting in bed. I figured he would be waiting for me, seeing as he drank more than he should. After a shower, I got into bed, and he pulled me over him, straddling him. “You smell good,” he said as he licked my neck.

“I’m pregnant,” I said quietly, and he looked at me. He tried moving, but I kept him where he was. He sat up straighter.
“Did you drink?” he asked, and I laughed.

“No. Only Hilda knew what was in my glass; it was juice,” I said, kissing him.
“I’m happy, baby. Are you sure about this?” he asked hesitantly.
“Yes, I’m sure. I’m just a few weeks, but according to Dr. Crawford, it’s all okay. I promise.”
“Okay, and I promise I’ll be here this time,” he said, hugging me.
“I know you will,” I said as I began removing his shirt.

When I woke up, I was alone. I sat up with the sheets around me. After I told him last night, he took his time making love to me. It was as if he was afraid, and in that moment, he promised me that he’d always be right by my side. I couldn’t help but smile. I checked the time; it was nine in the morning. After a quick shower, I headed downstairs and found everyone there.

“Good morning,” I said, taking the juice that Hilda passed to me. “Good morning, baby girl,” Miles said, lying down on the floor as Adriel climbed all over him. “Hungover?” I asked, looking at him.
“Yep. With the worst headache. Sky, you, Freya, Daphne, Aunt Dara, Margret, Olivia, Lana, and Grace are in charge of the wedding,” he said.

“You should be concerned if you’re giving me a say in your wedding,” Lana said, smirking at him, and he snorted.
“Yeah, right, Sky and Freya won’t let you lose,” he said, laughing.

We spent the following days preparing for Miles and Liam’s wedding. Margaret was only too happy. She said she no longer had any worries about Liam’s future, that he was happy, and that was all she wanted for him.
