Chapter 450

Chris wolfed down three burgers in one go.

In the middle of the night, he ran into Sloane in the kitchen, both looking for water.

Chris had originally thought that Simon's daily life was just too boring, so he directed and acted out this whole illness thing, suffering for several days for nothing.

But there was still a good outcome.

Thanks to his efforts, Simon had started to get interested in political dramas, and Chris was trying every way he could to get him involved in his new venture.

He was going to write a script himself, then fake being sick again, and get Simon to invest in making it.

Sloane was the first to read his first episode script and earnestly advised him to polish it for a few more years, otherwise Simon wouldn't just refuse to invest—he'd avoid political dramas altogether from then on.

Besides that, something happened that was beyond Chris's expectations.

Simon seemed to have gotten addicted to making burgers these past couple of days, and the victims weren't just him and Sloane anymore.

Because Sienna had finally reached her breaking point.

She stood in front of the food truck carrying a sledgehammer, threatening Simon, "Half a month, a whole half month! Our task force wants to throw up at the mention of burgers!"

Simon looked confused, "Are they not good? I add two extra eggs for each of you every day."

Kelvin held back one person with each arm, "It's not that they're not good, we're just sick of them, you know? When Sienna and I got here, Arnold and Leroy were trying to convince the burger vendor at the police station entrance to move somewhere else. Those two really feel nauseous just seeing those words now."

Simon thought about it seriously, "I understand now."

Sienna felt bad, put down the sledgehammer, and said earnestly, "It's not that we don't want you to make them, but we can't have them every day, right? We can make them occasionally, right? Change things up once in a while, right?"

Simon nodded seriously, "You're right."

Sienna breathed a sigh of relief.

Simon asked again, "Are they not good?"

Sienna couldn't lie with a straight face. She answered honestly, "Except for being a bit salty at first, your burgers now taste even better than the ones from the vendor at our police station entrance!"

Simon was finally happy.

So the next morning, before dawn, Simon pulled Chris's blanket off.

He asked groggily, "What's up?"

"Get up." Simon looked excited, "Quick."

Chris's body was more honest than his mind—in a flash, he was standing fully dressed in front of Simon, "What are we doing?"

"Starting a business."

Simon handed him an outfit, "Stop dawdling, I can't drive the food truck, you do it."

Chris got on the food truck in a daze, with a serious-looking Simon sitting next to him.

After pedaling for a while, Chris thought of the most important question, "Mr. Taylor, you can't just set up a stall anywhere. Do we have the permit for this?"

"I've taken care of everything." Simon urged, "Just listen to me, let's go."

So early in the morning, when Sienna came to work feeling refreshed, she froze at the police station entrance.

Chris was holding a megaphone, shouting, "Delicious burgers, delicious burgers, get your burger here..."

Sienna moved closer to look. Simon was skillfully frying patties and neatly cooking two eggs.

Seeing Sienna, he looked up with a bright smile, "Officer, want a burger?"

Sienna was completely helpless and sighed toward the sky.

For the following period, Simon set up his stall at the police station entrance every day. He stopped managing the company and stopped attending meetings.

Travis was the first to crack. He called Kieran, telling him to hurry up and collaborate with Simon, to keep him so busy he wouldn't have time to sell burgers at the police station entrance.

Kieran cursed him for being useless.

In April, all the flowers in the manor bloomed.

A while ago, Simon had kicked Sienna out to spend time alone with Kelvin. Kelvin happened to be on vacation too, so he happily took Sienna to Seaside City to bother Thea and the others.

A few days later, Simon also kicked Chris out. The reason was that Chris had been having barbecues in the garden with Raven and Rhett every day recently, making him smell lamb while trying to enjoy tea and flowers, which really killed the mood.

Especially since the youngest person in this house was thirty years old, yet still fought with Chris every day.

That Kelvin kid was smart—he always ran away at times like this.

Sometimes, when the two got carried away fighting and couldn't hold back, with some bumps and bruises, they could make a fuss for half a month. Simon would start his days by opening his door to find those two troublemakers sitting on little stools at his doorstep, waiting for him to "settle things fairly."

Annoyed by the commotion, after sending Sienna away, Chris became unhappy. Every time he served tea or water, he'd ask, "Let's call Sienna back, the house is so empty."

Simon glanced at him, "She's only been gone three hours, and you already feel empty?"

Chris quietly retreated, then came back in after a while to deliver documents, "When is Sienna coming back?"

Simon had already entered a video conference with a bunch of company executives. Hearing Chris's voice, they all perked up their ears and heard Simon say, "Are you uncomfortable without Sienna around?"

Chris pulled up a little stool and sat down, propping up his chin and nodding, "The house is too empty, I miss her."

Simon asked, "When she comes back, will you two fight every day again?"

Chris said seriously, "How can you call that fighting? That's clearly just playing around."

Simon couldn't help rolling his eyes, "Last time Raven wanted to play with you two, he broke an arm. The time before that, Rhett wanted to play with you two, but Rhett broke a leg. You call this just playing around?"

Chris stood up with a look of disdain on his face, "That's because Raven and Rhett aren't good enough! Henry was perfectly fine when he played with us. Henry loves playing with us!"

Simon rubbed his forehead, "Henry is different from them!"

Chris said righteously, "If they're not good enough, they're not good enough. What's this about being different?"

"Different living environments, different personal abilities."

As Simon said this, most of his anger had dissipated. He suddenly thought of something and looked at Chris with a deep gaze.

This look made Chris feel a bit guilty. He tugged at his clothes with both hands, "At the end of the day, they're just not good enough..."

Simon kept staring at him. Chris felt even more guilty and shuffled toward the door with tiny steps, "Well, I'll go now. I'll make you dinner. What do you want to eat tonight?"

He didn't dare tell Simon that the aftereffects of that drug on Sienna required these occasional fights to make her feel better.
