Chapter 449

Based on how well Sienna knew Chris by now, her heart skipped a beat when she heard those words.

Sure enough, the next second, Chris said, "But I'm not interested in that kind of long vacation."

Sienna immediately put her hands on her hips with a serious face. "You can't just let me work for nothing! Are you even human? I worked so hard to catch the bad guys, and this is how you treat me?"

Chris did feel a bit embarrassed. He thought for a moment and forced a smile at Sienna. "I have a way. Don't worry, your efforts won't go to waste."

So a week later, Benjamin, Eris, Steven and Emma, plus Rhett, all boarded a plane for a luxury trip, starting their sudden vacation.

Meanwhile, the real main character Chris, knocked on the manor door early in the morning.

Simon came to open the door sleepily, frowning at Chris's silly grin. "If I remember correctly, you just moved out of here three months ago."

Chris swung his bag forward. "I'm here for a vacation."

Simon woke up. "What kind of vacation are you taking here?"

Chris, who had always obeyed him, finally showed some rebellion for the first time, saying to Simon, "It's my vacation. Mind your own business."

Simon almost choked, and by the time he came to his senses, Chris had already carried his luggage inside.

When daylight came, Henry arrived at the manor, dropping several large bags in front of Simon. "What's gotten into him? What is all this mess? Making me deliver it so early in the morning. Flour—does the manor lack flour? Lettuce—do we lack lettuce here? And what's this? What does he need balloons for?"

While Simon was still puzzled, a truck arrived. Several workers unloaded something and called for someone to sign for it.

Henry and Simon went out and saw that he had bought a small cart.

Henry scratched his head. "Since when does he like riding bikes?"

Sloane, who could now move freely, came back from her morning run, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "He's not going to ride it. He's going to set up a stall. The cart has glass—you can tell he's going to set up a stall."

Simon said, "Have I been too hard on him?"

Henry said, "Have you been too hard on him?"

The delivery worker said with a smile, "This here is a food cart, fully equipped. So, which of you is paying?"

Henry asked, "This thing hasn't been paid for yet?"

The worker smiled. "We agreed on the phone—cash on delivery."

Sloane and Henry both took two steps back, pointing at Simon. "He's his person. He pays."

The worker looked at Simon with a smile. "Boss, are we paying by card or cash?"

While paying, Simon said through gritted teeth, "If he doesn't make this business number one in Emerald City, I'll break his legs!"

Chris came down cheerfully and pedaled away his food cart under everyone's varied gazes.

He spent an afternoon getting Henry and Sloane to help decorate his little cart.

Simon kept shooting him looks.

He built a stove in the manor—Simon agreed. He set up a barbecue area in the flower garden—Simon agreed to that too. Three months ago, while Simon was at a meeting with Russell and others in Seaside City, Chris built a bread oven in his newly developed golf area. He built it in the shape of a rabbit, but it ended up looking like a snarling dog.

Though the bread it baked was crispy and delicious.

After eating baked bread for two weeks straight, Simon couldn't take it anymore and threw him out of the manor, luggage and all.

Chris carried his luggage back to his small apartment. After three quiet months, he was making a comeback.

But what Simon never expected was that the day after Chris set up his food cart, he came down with the worst cold he'd ever had.

"You're really embarrassing yourself!"

Simon brought him medicine. "Finally, get a vacation, and you don't go on a luxury trip. You insist on setting up a stall. Now look—you bought the food cart, but you're sick in bed. Aren't you embarrassed?"

Chris's cold left him feverish and delirious for three whole days.

Three days later, his fever finally broke. Lying weakly in bed, he told Simon and Sienna, "I'm just tired. Can't move. Moving makes me tired."

Sienna asked, "Is there anything you want to do? Anything you want to eat or drink?"

Chris nodded weakly. "I want to watch TV."

Simon immediately ordered a portable TV and moved it in for him. "What do you want to watch?"

Chris was clearly excited. "Game of Thrones."

Simon rolled his eyes. "Pick something else. You've watched that eight times already."

Chris coughed weakly and shook his head firmly, looking at Simon. "Watch it with me."

Simon immediately refused. "No way. I don't like watching TV."

Chris looked disappointed as he coughed.

Sienna thought for a moment. "Just keep him company. People get really needy when they're sick. They need companionship."

Simon was conflicted. "Let Sloane keep you company."

Chris almost threw off the covers to get out of bed. "No way! She always spoils it!"

Simon was speechless. "You've watched it eight times already. You're still worried about spoilers?"

Chris didn't hold back, pointing at him. "I don't care. You have to watch it with me."

Simon turned to get a stick, but Sienna quickly stopped him. "Just bear with it. It's rare for him to rebel. It's not easy for him."

Simon thought about it and held back.

Chris urged Sienna not to hover around him all the time—she should go do what she needed to do. Fighting crime was more meaningful than watching over him.

Sienna rolled her eyes at him several times and went back to work.

Once Sienna left, Simon took on the responsibility of taking care of Chris, the patient.

It wasn't that there was no one else at the manor, but Chris was very particular. He couldn't eat what the servants made, couldn't drink what they prepared. This made Simon so angry that he went out and practiced three sets of boxing moves. After calming down, he rolled up his sleeves and made him some porridge.

Chris drank three bowls in one go. Simon thought his cooking skills were pretty good.

Only Sloane knew that she had run into Chris three times that night in the kitchen, chugging water from a bucket.

Another day passed. Chris was eating snacks while binge-watching his show, looking at Simon,, who was studying a menu. "I want a burger."

"Get up and make it yourself."

"I don't have the energy."

"But you have energy to binge-watch shows day and night?"

Chris acted cute for the first time. "I'm begging you."

Simon got goosebumps. "Did the fever make you crazy?"

Chris repeated, "Simon, I just want to eat a burger made by you."

Simon couldn't take it anymore and had to do it himself. After countless failed attempts, he finally made one that looked decent and brought it to Chris, while also benefiting Sloane who had been watching the whole time.
