Chapter 65 A Heartwarming Dinner
"Mama, I'm hungry..." Ryan rubbed his eyes, standing by the bedroom door with a drowsy look. He blinked at the two people in the kitchen.
Daisy immediately snapped back to reality, pushing Justin away and walking towards Ryan.
When Ryan saw his mother approaching, he naturally held out his hands, hugging her. With innocent childlike vocals, he asked, "Mama, what are we having today?"
Due to Justin's interruption, Daisy had only made two dishes and a soup. She instantly felt guilty and replied, "Today, we have sweet and sour spare ribs and tomato soup..."
Ryan wasn't familiar with the names of the dishes, so he simply nodded and said, "I want to eat!"
Daisy smiled and carried Ryan to the baby high chair before returning to the kitchen to serve the food.
At this moment, Justin's expression darkened. His eyes towards Ryan didn't look favorable, and he was only wearing a sleeveless vest, showcasing his muscles. This unintentionally made Daisy fear him. She instinctively whispered, "Don't scare him!"
Daisy's reaction caught Justin off guard, and he sneered with a curl of his lips.
He stepped forward and hugged his son, rubbed their heads together, and spun around.
Ryan, immediately happy, laughed, "Hehe, it tickles, Daddy!"
Justin laughed along, still holding Ryan up in the air, continuing to play.
Seeing this, Daisy immediately rushed forward to stop them. "It's too dangerous. Put him down."
At that moment, Justin put Ryan back in his seat and asked Daisy, "He's my son, what can I possibly scare him with?"
Daisy was speechless.
Although Justin would often visit them during the past three years, this was the first time he stayed to have dinner with the mother and son.
As Justin watched Daisy feed Ryan, there was a strange and indescribable feeling welling up in his heart. The way Daisy looked at Ryan seemed to be filled with a tenderness that could melt away.
When Daisy's gaze met Justin's deep eyes, she was instantly mesmerized and unable to free herself.
After finishing dinner, Daisy tidied up the dishes and went into the kitchen to wash them.
Meanwhile, Justin looked after Ryan, lightening Daisy's burden.
However, when she entered the bedroom after washing the dishes, she didn't expect to see that the pair of father and son had already finished bathing and were lying on the bed. Justin was reading a bedtime story to Ryan.
Daisy looked at Justin in surprise and couldn't help but ask, "How did you get in bed?"
Before Justin could answer, Ryan interrupted, "Mom, Dad is going to sleep with us tonight!"
Daisy frowned and walked up, grabbing her son's hand, trying to pull him away from Justin's embrace.
"Didn't Mom say that Dad doesn't sleep with us?"
"Why? My classmates sleep with their parents!" Ryan said.
"But Kiki sleeps with her mom, right?" Daisy immediately thought of Ken's daughter, who is also a single parent, thinking she had found a reason.
But Ryan replied directly, "Kiki sleeps with her grandparents!"
"You see, they all have two people to accompany them, why don't I?"
Daisy was speechless once again and reluctantly agreed to let Ryan sleep with them.
By nine o'clock in the evening, Ryan was laying in the middle of his parents, sleeping soundly.
Daisy and Justin faced each other, their eyes looking at Ryan. They lightly patted his back, watching him sleep peacefully.
After a while, Daisy felt a bit sleepy, and her eyes became blurred.
As she continued to pat, her hand accidentally touched Justin's back.
In an instant, there was a sensation which felt like an electric shock, and Daisy immediately withdrew her hand.
But Justin held her hand.
"My darling, thank you!" Justin suddenly said with tenderness, leaving Daisy somewhat stunned. She blinked at Justin and watched as he let go of her hand and lay back down.
Daisy was taken aback, and couldn't help but think: Is this it?
She looked at Justin for a while and found that he was really just asleep. After staying dazed for a while, she turned off the light and got into bed.
The next day, Justin accompanied Daisy and Ryan to work and school. Before leaving, he pecked Daisy's cheek, causing her face to blush.
As Daisy walked into the office, her heart was still thumping.
Coincidentally, her colleagues were discussing about the missing plane incident, and when she heard the name "the Scotts," Daisy's heart began to panic.
In the evening, Justin came to pick up Daisy. .
Daisy couldn't help but say, "It’s best that you... don't come anymore!"
"Why?"
Daisy tightly held her bag strap, her small body tense. She pursed her lips and said softly, "We have no relationship, people will misunderstand if you act like this."
Justin's face instantly turned dark, "Misunderstand what? You are already mine, and Ryan is my son."
Daisy couldn't help but stare at him, "Your wife just had an accident, and you're acting like this... What if someone recognizes you? What will happen to me and Ryan?"
Justin's soften his attitude. He held Daisy's hand and explained, "No one will recognize me."
"They only know that the daughter-in-law of the CEO of Elite Enterprises had an accident, and the son was almost involved too."
Daisy didn't listen to him, she withdrew her hand and muttered softly, "There will still be acquaintances who recognize you..."
"Then why are you still fighting against me? Aren't you afraid of being seen?"
Daisy: "..."
In the end, Daisy, who was afraid of inviting more trouble, got on Justin's car.
IAs usual, they arrived late to the kindergarten.
Ryan, as always, sat in the classroom waiting, and to Daisy's surprise, Ken and his daughter were also still there.
Daisy couldn't help but have her gaze linger on Ken, as if she wanted to say something, but Justin, with Ryan in his arms, pulled Daisy's hand and tried to leave.
Daisy hesitated for a moment, then made a bold decision: "Justin, you go back!"
"But Ryan and I have someone to take us!"
This statement surprised both men.
Justin was visibly angry: "Daisy, don't play around!"
Daisy simply ignored him, she turned and walked over to Ken, looked up at him with a pleading look in her eyes.
Ken understood and smiled, responding, "Alright!"
Without looking back, Daisy took Ryan from Justin's hands and got into Ken's car.
Leaving Justin alone in his lonely figure.
During the entire ride, Ken didn't talk much about personal matters with Daisy. Most of the conversation came from the two children, with Ken and Daisy only occasionally responding.
When they arrived home and got out of the car, Daisy, holding Ryan, felt a little embarrassed. She lowered her head and said earnestly, "Thank you."
Ken sighed, looked at the sky, and let out a long sigh, "If my ex-wife had been as devoted as you, it would have been better."
Daisy was stunned, then blushed. She knew that Ken had figured out her feelings. She bowed and thanked him again before leaving with Ryan .
That night, Justin didn't come over.
Instead, the tenant next door rang Daisy's doorbell and said they wanted to move out early.
This surprised Daisy a little, but she didn't ask too much. After all, there were only a few days left in the lease.
Three days later when the tenant moved out, a moving company suddenly came and replaced all the furniture and appliances in the neighboring apartment with brand new ones.
When the person who had been missing for a few days showed up at the doorstep, Daisy was furious. Her small cherry lips pouted as she slammed the door shut.
Justin looked at Daisy’s angry appearance and helplessly smiled.
In the following days, Justin naturally started coming over to Daisy's place for meals. Daisy couldn't help but ask, "Don't you have work to do?"
Three years ago, Justin had returned to Elite Enterprises. With everything that happened at Elite Enterprises, several executives were arrested and awaiting trial. How could he be so carefree, hanging around her every day?
Daisy wondered in her heart, and Justin answered her directly "I resigned."
"What?" Daisy was surprised and couldn't help but say, "Isn't it your family's company?"
"My dad thought I was incompetent, so he scolded me, and I left." Justin casually explained. When Daisy felt sorry for him, he took advantage of the situation and tried to stay over, but Daisy pushed him out the door when it involved him staying overnight.
Another three months had passed.
The situation with LIN's face being ruined has once again made headlines. This time, the trending topic is regarding the several high-ranking executives from Elite Enterprises who were involved in illegal activities that included manufacturing counterfeit and inferior products, bribing officials. They were all sentenced to heavy punishments.
This trial has immediately escalated the case from being a business matter to a political one, causing a huge stir and sparking discussions among internet users.
Soon, netizens dug up the mastermind behind this matter, and it turned out to be Justin's older brother, Mike Scott. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined a staggering amount of several billions dollars.
Following that, LIN headquarters filed a series of lawsuits against Elite Enterprises for breach of contract, fraudulent activities, and damage to the brand's interests.
n a single morning, Elite Enterprises’s illegal activities were exposed to the core, and many creditors started seeking compensations from the company.
At four o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. Scott was once again trending on social media due to a sudden heart attack that landed him in the emergency room.
The entire day's affair kept Daisy busy and extremely anxious, unable to help but worry about Justin.
Finally, during dinner time, Daisy had a moment to rest, and immediately called Justin.
However, what she heard was the seven words, "Your call has been turned off."
At that moment, Justin was standing by the hospital bed, looking at the motionless Mr. Scott, with a cold indifference in his deep black eyes.
Rachel and her daughter were still busy dealing with Mike Scott's situation.
Therefore, the hospital ward was empty except for Mr. Scott.
When he saw Justin appear at the ward, a pale faced Mr. Scott’s was surprised to see him. Mr. Scott asked Justin coldly , "What are you doing here?"
"Are you here to fight for the family fortune?"
Justin chuckled sarcastically, confidently striding closer and saying, "Family fortune? Do we, the Scotts, even have any family fortune left now?"
Justin's face was filled with an unusually eJonasberant and triumphant smile.
Mr. Scott immediately caught on and said, "It was you... You did this?"
"How could I? I don't have that ability."
"I just hinted to someone about my good second brother's situation, and he took care of it. After all, you were late in splitting the family fortune, right?"
"You... You beast!"
"The decades of hard work by the Scotts..."
Mr. Scott clutched his heart, coughing violently, not even having the strength to pick up something to throw at Justin.
Justin looked at him, bent over the hospital bed. Upon seeing Mr. Scoot struggling to breathe, Justin appeared to look relieved.
"The decades of hard work by you are in fact not considered your hard work, but my grandfather's hard work isn't?"
Upon hearing this, Mr. Scott froze, his body stiffening. He turned his head with difficulty to look at Justin, his voice trembling, "You truly hate me."
"I knew you hated me, but have you ever thought about how your grandfather and your mother viewed me?"
"In their eyes, I will forever be that very poor beggar who couldn't even afford a meal."
"She is obsessed, thinking that I belong solely to her..."
Mr. Scott half-sat on the edge of the hospital bed, supporting his upper body against the headboard, struggling to control his breathing. However, he was still panting, he was taking faster and quicker breaths. His eyes welled up with tears.
