Chapter Two-Hundred and Sixty-Six

Chapter Two-Hundred and Sixty-Six
Later that afternoon…
Hondo and Hawkins arrived at  the compound along with the Meran sons and Hawkins’ men.

They all sat down with coffee on this especially quiet afternoon.

The day had been successful.

Carlos left town. Ronnie and his brothers were totally gone and the city traitors were being processed into jail.

Hondo had avoided being blamed and chased by the cartels.

Before he came back to the compound today, Hawkins had visited the old couple, the Ruckers who’d lost their farm to Ronnie and his brothers… He told them the county was gonna give them their title back and they could go home soon. They could retire there if they wanted to. That the Rogues MC would help them with anything they needed to live there.

Then the biggest victory of all?

Drugs were not being made in this county anymore.

Boots joined the others in the main room and he went directly over to London. He sat down next to her.

She pushed a hot cup of coffee toward him.

He raised the cup and took a sip. With a sigh, he told her, “He never regained consciousness and he passed on a few minutes ago.”

London paled and then she took a deep breath and nodded. “Maybe that’s for the best. But as usual, he doesn’t have to face the consequences for his actions of the last few years.”

“Girl…” Hawkins shook his head. “He paid the price for what he did. Think of it this way, now you and Chris are free of him. You don’t have to run away and hide from anything or anybody. Ronnie and his buddies paid for their misdeeds today as well.”

Kota nodded. “And this town is free of the cartel… finally. We can all breathe freely again.”

London gave them a nod.

The men all discussed getting together at the Malverde Ranch for a weekend barbecue. The new Bed and Breakfast was ready to have guests now.
The Meran sons talked to Hawkins and his son, Kota along with some of the women. Wren talked excitedly with Luna about what they needed to pack.

Looking bemused by the family gathering talk, London looked over at Boots and asked, “Well, this all ended fast.” She smiled at him. “So now you and I can see where things could go?”

“I hope so.” Boots grinned. “I really hope so, because that’s something I want to discover very badly.”

“Chris and I come as a package. I hope you understand that,” she whispered.

“I do. In fact, I liked him right off. I’ve always wanted a little brother and I can’t think of a better one to fill that role than Chris.”

She smiled and leaned into his arms. “Oh so, you are saying that I am the extra part of the package?” she teased him.

“Sure…” He chuckled. “A very beautiful extra.”

London smiled. “Good, I’d really hate to start all over somewhere else. At least here, I got a good job and some friends.”

“A cop and a doctor in the family?” Nash butted in.

Brute nodded and said, “Dang, that’s a power couple right there.

Hawkins beamed at them and squared his shoulders proudly. “The Rogues are coming up in the world.”

“Hallelujah and welcome home, London,” Roseabel stepped over to hug her.

Cat nodded. “I am so happy you’re gonna stay!” Then she bent down to kiss Chris on the head.

Chris looked up and beamed at her. “Cat,” he said aloud, his small voice sounding raspy.

London gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. He actually said her name. Her eyes filled with tears.

Boots put his arm around her shoulder and said, “Miracles can happen.”

Roseable looked proud as she tousled Chris’ hair.

Cat nodded again as she gave the kid a gentle smile. “There will be more coming. This kid has a lot to say.”

Hawkins laughed as he looked over at London. “Looks like you got a whole family now, little girl. You and Chris will fit right in and he’s got a lot of uncles to steer him right while he grows up.”

Everyone cheered at Hawkins’ statement.

A yap came from somewhere under the table.

London looked around. “What was that?”

Cat shook her head and knelt down to call out, “Cubby?”

London and Boots moved from their chairs and knelt down to look under the table.

“A puppy?” London exclaimed.

Cat smiled at her then looked up at Chris. She nodded at him.

Chris knelt down and let out a little whistle.

The little dog came right up to him.

Chris smiled as he picked up the puppy.

Boots laughed and told London, “Well, you said you wanted a dog.”

Shaking her head, London still looked stunned as she asked, “But where did he come from?”

Cat smiled at her and said, “Well, you see, it’s sort of a long story. It’s about this dog who lives with the wolves and his name is Bear…”

Thank you so much for reading Rogues. Another KJ Dahlen Addictive Tale is coming soon.
