Chapter 30

Angel

After I asked for gold Acrylics to match with this outfit of their choosing for me to wear, Gray without hesitation knocked on the tinted window that separated the back and front seats from one another within the SUV.

Slowly it came down, and I could see that it was Josh and Smiley in the front seats. Josh was on their phone playing some game, to into it apparently to realize that the tinted window had come down.

"Fuck! ¡Pedazo de mierda idiota!"

They yelled, slamming a heavy fist against the dashboard. Suddenly, Smiley had smacked the back of joshes head through their long loose hair, causing josh to wince and hold their head where they had been hit.

"The fuck is your problem imbécil!?"

Josh hissed out quickly, forgetting all about the game that had begun to anger them prior. Smiley simply gestured to the back window, at us, me and Gray who had only been staring at Josh with cold eyes while I bit back snickers of laughter behind my hand. Then Smileys full focus remained on the road ahead of them.

"Oh, what's up boss?"

"Smiley, get us to the quickest nail salon."

Gray ordered plainly, ignoring josh and having the tinted window roll back up. I hinted at Josh's confused expression before they were gone from my view behind the window. Then, Gray was once again seated comfortably in the back seat, one leg drawing over the other in a slow cross.

"Get dressed. I'm not telling you again."

I let out a scowling sigh, as my narrowed eyes glared at them for only a mere moment before I undressed in the best fashion that I could while seated in the back seat of a car. Then, I began to get dressed in my disguise. It only took me ten to fifteen minutes to get dressed. "Yeah, this wig isn't going to get put on. My hair isn't braided Gray."

"You'll get it braided down at the salon, I'm sure they know how to do hair there, just as well as they can do nails."

"Why does it seem as if you've planned all of this out?"

"Most of what I do is planned, Angel."

Once I finished tucking in the button down into the waist of my loose-fitting slacks and got the blazer around my waist and buttoned as well, my lips pierced at their reply. I didn't really know how to or what to make of what they were saying. But I do know that it had me questioning a lot

of things that has happened up until this moment.

Eventually, the SUV was parked. And we were climbing out of the backseat. I adjusted my blazer, and fixed the collar of my shirt in the side mirror on the driver's seat once I noticed that it wasn't exactly down. Then, Gray held the door opened for me as I walked into the salon. An Asian woman quickly walked up to me, she spoke English, thankfully.

"Welcome, I'll be helping you with whatever you need this evening."

She said once she stopped in front of me and Gray. Call me delusional, but it looked as if this woman were taking in the moment to take in Grays appearance, in full at that. She even licked her lips discreetly before that oh, so welcoming smile returned to her lips.

"I would like to get my nails done in gold acrylic, and I also just need my hair braided down in simple braids."

Quickly she nodded and gestured for me to follow her, which we did. First she sat me down at a table, or desk rather. It was filled with utensils needed to to do a full nail fixer up. She grabbed my hands and looked at them at every angle she possibly could have, then she let go of one hand which I retreated near the edge of the desk.

It took only an hour for the woman, who's name was Mrs. Chang to finish my nails, and another hour to finish braiding my hair. She even offered to install the wig once I told her about it. Which Gray was so kind enough to go and get out of the back seat of the SUV.

Now back in the SUV and on our way to only god knows where, I faced Gray. My legs pressed together at and angle. I now wore the black, flat top hat with the gold ribbon on it paired with black shades.

"So, want to fill me in a little more Gray?"

"First, we are going to deal with business. And then we have to go to a party."

They began to inform me, not even taking the chance to look away from their phone, giving the impression that it was far more important than filling me in on what it was I was accompanying them to do.

"At this party, if anyone asks, your name is...Betty."

I almost wanted to laugh at their name choice. Betty? really, that was the best they could do? Maybe they really do need to get their head out of their phone. They could have done so much better than give me such a name. I mean, it's not bad, don't get me wrong. It's a very pretty name, but a black girl with the name Betty. Tell me that doesn't seem so unreal.

"Since you are bad at picking names, obviously. I'll pick my Alias. It will be...Searra."

"Whatever. Searra will be your name. If anyone asks if we are a couple, or indulging in any sexual activities just laugh it off and say you are actually my stepsister. There is a chance Cayla could be at this party, and she won't believe that I've gotten over you already. Let alone, let you go since you are in danger."

"If Cayla is at this party, why would she show herself to you? to even find out you have come with someone."

"She won't, she has eyes and ears."

That made more sense. Now that I knew that information, I wondered what the 'business' Gray had to handle beforehand was.

Then, there was a knock on this tinted window, and it slowly rolled down. Revealing Smiley and Josh who were peering into the back behind it, not that they could see anything until the window was rolled down.

"We are here boss."

With those words that came from Smiley, Gray and Smiley were out of the car first.

"Whatever you do, Hermosa. Don't get out of the car, and don't look out of the windows. I can't roll up the tint because boss has to be able to look in the car in case someone tries something. So, stay put. Stay quiet. And don't do anything at all, besides breathe of course."

Josh said to me before opening the passenger door and getting out of the car as well. Once they were out, they adjusted the semi-hidden handgun on their waist. They were off, taking the same path Gray and Smiley took. They didn't exactly go far to be honest. Really, they just were a few feet ahead of the car.

I took a moment to look around, allowing myself to grow distracted by our surroundings. We were in what looked like the back of an expensive house. Just a bit far off from it, if that even makes sense. There was also a building in front, it looked abandoned, run down even. There were cardboard over the windows, the paint was dirty and disgusting looking while vines seemed to be trying to devour it.

Then, I spotted about 5 men standing in front of the run-down building facing Gray, who stood in the middle of Josh and Smiley. Josh and Smiley had their hands together in front of them while Gray stood there with their hands in their pockets.

I saw the man in the middle, he looked about in the fifty-age range, if not late forties, appear to be pleading. His hand kept moving while he spoke, and he looked as if he were raising his voice. While everyone else just looked calm and collected compared to him.

*BAM*

Gray had pointed their gun at the man's head, and it went off. Then it went off again, and again, and again for the last time. As I watched the whole ordeal go down, I didn't manage to flinch, or become scared as I watched Gray kill a man. I didn't understand it myself, but the sudden death didn't bother me.

Not even a minute later, a woman was brought out of the abandoned building. She was kicking and screaming from what I could tell from my spot afar in the SUV. *Was she going to be killed to?* I wondered. Silently, I continued to watch even though I was told not to more or do anything at all before.

Maybe, I should have listened to Josh, and did what they told me to. Or maybe not? Now I got to see another part of Gray that I forgot existed, that I forgot came with being part of the mafia.

Though, I wasn't entirely sure I liked this part or not. I mean, it obviously didn't bother me. But maybe I was really just in a state of shock? I didn't know what was going on with me. This, me being unphased by people being killed before my eyes didn't feel or seem normal. SO, I sat back in my seat, got my phone out of my pocket, and paid it my attention instead.
