Chapter 521 Poisoned

Chapter 521 Poisoned

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Leonard broke out in a cold sweat. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

Without drawing attention, Leonard began inching his way toward the door.

He needed to find a way to leave this place as soon as possible; everything else could wait.

However, just as Leonard was nearing the light from the doorway, a tall figure blocked his path.

The man was a burly auction house security guard, wearing sunglasses and bowing his head respectfully.

"Sorry, sir," the guard said. "The auction isn't over yet, and you can't leave just now. Don't worry, we have plenty of items today; you might find something you like later."

Leonard glanced around the corners of the auction room, making a quick assessment.

Damn, this small auction house has about twenty or thirty guards!

More importantly, one or two of them had slight bulges at their waists and a menacing look on their faces.

These guys probably have firearms!

Leonard's mouth twitched slightly as he tried to maintain his composure. He spoke calmly.

"No, it's just that my stomach feels a bit off. I need to use the restroom."

The guard's expression remained unchanged, but he pointed to a corner.

"Sir, the restroom is over there."

Though he hadn't said much, the pressure was palpable.

Leonard had no choice but to avoid a direct confrontation to save his own skin.

He walked towards the restroom without drawing attention and opened the door.

He couldn't believe it; a large restroom must have a ventilation duct, right?

Five minutes later, Leonard stood silently in the men's room, staring at the ventilation duct.

Good news: there was a ventilation duct that led outside. Bad news: the duct's opening was welded shut.

Unless he had a drill or some heavy-duty tools, there was no way to open it.

Leonard sighed helplessly and checked his watch: it looked like he had to rely on Ash now.

This was the locator watch given to Leonard by the Special Events Bureau.

As long as he wore it, the Special Events Bureau would come to his rescue immediately.

Heavy knocking echoed through the air, and the guard outside spoke in a deep voice.

"Is anyone in there?"

"We just detected a phone signal in the restroom. Sir, please turn off your phone and cooperate with us."

Leonard's heart skipped a beat; he had already handed over his phone.

He had only used his watch to activate the locator.

And it was just for about three seconds!

Could they really detect it in such a short time?

Suddenly, Leonard broke out in a cold sweat. He quickly turned off the watch and walked out, pretending to be calm.

He forced himself to sound angry, "What's all the noise about? Can't a guy send a message?"

With that, Leonard returned to his auction table without drawing attention.

Great, now he was completely trapped here.

He hoped Ash would come through!

As Leonard thought about this, he suddenly felt an itch on his nose.

He reached out to rub it, and his pupils shrank in shock the next second.

His hand was stained with fresh blood. Leonard touched his nose in disbelief, feeling dizzy.

He was having a nosebleed!

This was bad; someone had poisoned him!
