Chapter 512 I Have Come to Save You
Chapter 512 I Have Come to Save You
Feeling the oppressive weight of impending death, Aurora closed her eyes slightly, quietly awaiting the end.
With her hands and feet bound, she had no ability to resist. What else could she do?
However, as the seconds ticked by, the excruciating pain she had imagined never came.
What was going on? Had these people changed their minds and decided to let her go?
Suddenly, a deafening explosion echoed across the sky.
Immediately, the previously dim altar was flooded with sunlight, and the narrow, claustrophobic passageway was blown open, creating a gaping hole.
Leonard stood at the forefront, holding a dagger and a homemade tranquilizer gun.
His brief words were filled with reassurance.
"Aurora, hang tight! I'm coming to get you!"
Ash, not to be outdone, waved his small handgun and steadily advanced toward Aurora.
"Leonard, Ash, what are you guys doing here?"
The familiar faces instantly put Aurora at ease, and the fear of imminent death seemed to fade.
"Of course, we're here to save you!"
Leonard spoke with a stoic expression, casually pulling out a homemade bow from behind him.
With a swift motion, the arrow whistled through the air, heading straight for the giant serpent.
The serpent let out a pained scream, instinctively releasing Aurora from its grip.
Leonard's urgent voice rang in her ears, urging her on.
"Quick! Do it now!"
At first, Aurora didn't understand what Leonard meant until she caught sight of the tranquilizer dart on the arrow.
This massive creature was too dangerous! Rather than risking their lives in a desperate fight, it was better to play it safe.
They needed to subdue it first.
With a determined look, Aurora swiftly pressed the syringe and used all her strength to inject the tranquilizer!
With a furious roar, the serpent flung Aurora's body away.
The powerful force sent Aurora's head spinning, and she instinctively closed her eyes to brace against the pain.
But the expected pain never came. Instead, she landed on something soft.
Curious, she squeezed the cushiony object with her eyes still closed. What was this?
It felt quite nice to touch.
The next second, a gritted voice sounded in her ear.
"Does that feel good? Let go already!"
The voice was unmistakably familiar. Aurora's eyes flew open to see Leonard's handsome face, magnified in front of her.
And the soft thing she had been squeezing was Leonard's lower body.
Aurora's ears turned red in an instant, and she sprang up as if struck by lightning.
She stammered, "I'm sorry, I didn't know I bumped into you."
"Are you okay? I'm really sorry."
Leonard's face was dark, and he didn't hold back his words. "Do you have any idea how heavy you are?"
"If I had known, I wouldn't have come to save you!"
Despite his words, the moment Aurora was thrown, Leonard had instinctively used his body to shield her.
His concern for her was evident.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have made that demand earlier."
As soon as he spoke, Leonard looked at Aurora with regret, his eyes filled with guilt.
"If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be in this situation today."
He was sincerely apologizing to Aurora.
Aurora's body trembled slightly as she understood Leonard's meaning. She smiled gently and shook her head.
"It's okay, this has nothing to do with you. You don't need to blame yourself."
Their mutual confessions brought Leonard and Aurora closer together.
The atmosphere between them grew more intimate, and Aurora's heart skipped a beat.
She softly reassured Leonard, "It's really okay. If it weren't for you, I might have been in real danger today."
"You've more than made up for it. You're my hero now!"
This was truly how Aurora felt. If Leonard hadn't come to her rescue like a god, she might not have survived.
Leonard's burden lifted slightly, and he couldn't help but smile as he gazed at Aurora.
"Can you two take your romance somewhere else?"
A disgruntled voice came from behind them. It was Ash.
"I'm still standing here, you know. Can you two be a little more mindful?"
Ash had witnessed their entire interaction and felt like an outsider.
Leonard raised an eyebrow, looking at Ash with a teasing expression.
"Why don't you find someone too?"
This guy was really annoying!
Ash glared at Leonard, then refocused on the giant serpent.
He cocked his handgun and spoke calmly.
"That thing's been tranquilized and can't move for now. We need to figure out how to capture it!"
A fierce look flashed in Ash's eyes as he continued.
"If anything goes wrong, we'll shoot it on the spot!"
He had already considered all possible consequences when he said this.
Even if it meant offending the local authorities, such a monster couldn't be allowed to roam free!
Sensing Ash's intent, the previously limp serpent began to hiss furiously.
The villagers, who hadn't left, knelt on the ground in terror.
"Witch God, have mercy! Witch God, calm your anger! It's all these outsiders' doing! It has nothing to do with us!"
They believed they were the serpent's most loyal followers and that it wouldn't harm them.
But they were wrong.
A beast is always a beast! Nothing would change that!
With a gaping maw, the serpent lunged at an elderly woman, swallowing half her body in one gulp.
In an instant, only her lower legs remained standing, the rest of her body gone.
"The Witch God is angry! The Witch God is punishing us!"
The once-devout villagers scattered in all directions in panic.
Watching the serpent slowly rise, Aurora's forehead broke out in a cold sweat.
She spoke in disbelief.
"This snake is maintaining its energy by eating people?"
