Chapter 511: Jibu's Past

Chapter 511: Jibu's Past

Aurora's face flashed with shock as she listened to the old woman. She never imagined it would be for such a reason.

Her expression quickly shifted, and she spoke through gritted teeth.

"Are you people nuts? This was just an accident, and you're treating it like some kind of divine sign?"

"Aren't you scared that once you feed this beast, it'll turn on you and kill you all?"

This was ridiculous, completely ridiculous!

Didn't these people have any basic common sense? Relying on a beast—was that something a sane person would do?

The painful howls echoed in the air, and the giant snake seemed to understand Aurora's words, tightening its grip around her.

The old woman immediately knelt down, trembling as she spoke.

"Please forgive us, Witch God! Please forgive us, Witch God!"

"This wretched woman dared to insult the Witch God; she brought this upon herself."

Aurora's face turned pale. She felt her ribs being crushed, making it hard to breathe.

But she still glared fiercely at the old woman.

"Gods don't save people. The only one who can save you is yourself!"

Even though Aurora was a feng shui master, she firmly believed this.

All feng shui did was shape the environment; as long as a person was determined, any problem could be solved.

Unfortunately, to the old woman, Aurora's words were a blatant provocation.

She instantly drew a machete, her eyes red with rage.

"How dare you blaspheme the Witch God! Die! You will die now!"

...

After returning to the tent, Leonard saw Ash slip in quietly when no one was looking.

As soon as the tent flap opened, Leonard's intense eyes met Ash's.

"Do you have a plan? Tell me! Aurora is in serious danger, and I can't leave her there alone!"

Ash took off his baseball cap and spoke calmly.

"Don't worry. The higher-ups knew this trip would be particularly dangerous, so they arranged for extra personnel in the director's team."

"Some of them are already patrolling, but they don't know the exact location, so it's a bit aimless."

Ash's words eased Leonard's anxiety somewhat, but a new problem arose.

How would they find Aurora's exact location?

Just then, a commotion erupted outside the tent.

"It's Giles and Avril, they're back!"

Hearing this, Leonard and Ash exchanged a glance and rushed outside.

They stopped in their tracks, stunned by the scene before them.

Not far away, Avril was gripping Giles' collar tightly, her actions rough.

She shoved him to the ground and spoke coldly.

"This guy has been causing trouble behind the scenes! Even if it wasn't him, he's definitely involved!"

Giles was disheveled, his clothes tattered, and his face covered in dirt.

He hung his head, remaining silent.

Seeing this, Eugene hesitated before speaking.

"Avril, what makes you say that?"

During the show's interviews, Eugene had learned about Giles' background.

As the only doctor in this backward village, Giles was known for his kindness and good character.

He couldn't believe Giles would be behind this incident.

Avril's lips curled into a cold smile as she spoke.

"Don't worry, I wouldn't be here without evidence!"

With a sharp sound, Avril pulled a paper-wrapped herb from Giles' belongings.

She threw it to the ground, and a pale yellow powder spilled out, filling the air with a peculiar smell.

Leonard sniffed it lightly and immediately identified it: "This is snake repellent powder?"

"Yes, exactly!" Avril declared firmly.

"All our equipment was provided by the show, with almost no differences."

"Except Giles had this snake repellent powder on him. Isn't that suspicious?"

Eugene couldn't help but interject, "But as a doctor, it's normal for Giles to carry some protective medicine, right?"

Avril's anger flared even more at this.

"When we encountered that giant snake, Giles acted like he was ready to sacrifice himself!"

"But the snake ignored him and went straight for Aurora!"

"If he wasn't involved, why didn't he use the powder when the snake appeared?"

The snake had specifically targeted Aurora?

Leonard's eyes gleamed as he walked over to Giles.

He spoke slowly, "Don't worry, I believe you."

"I believe someone who saves their teammates in a crisis wouldn't betray us."

Leonard paused, looking meaningfully at Giles.

"Besides, I trust that Giles wouldn't keep anything from us, right?"

This was a subtle hint and a warning.

Leonard was telling Giles that even if he wasn't involved, he needed to share what he knew.

Finally, Giles sighed deeply and spoke reluctantly.

"Honestly, I had nothing to do with this, but I might know what's going on."

Years ago, when extreme weather hit, Giles was among those who fled the village.

When he returned, he heard about the arrival of the Witch God.

Having seen the outside world and understanding science, Giles didn't believe in such superstitions.

As a result, he was ostracized and became a village outcast.

With a sense of guilt, Giles became the village doctor, hoping to change it, even if just a little.

Listening to Giles' story, Leonard frowned and couldn't help but ask.

"What about Aurora? Where is she now?"

Nothing else mattered; Aurora's safety was paramount.

Giles hesitated before speaking.

"Aurora... she might have been chosen as the sacrifice."
