Chapter 105 Stupid Wolf

Chapter 105 Stupid Wolf
Erick
I watched the whole scene unfold inside Alpha Scott’s study, completely chill, even though the wolf inside me was silently throwing a massive party.
The bait I’d dropped had turned into the perfect trap, ready to absolutely choke Luna Lulu’s enemies. As a spy completely loyal to Alpha Caspian of Sapphire Water, my job inside this Emerald Earth pack was bloody close to its peak.
"How dare you, Erick! Get your filthy hands off me!"
Elder Ruth thrashed violently as I stepped forward to follow Scott’s orders. Her wrinkled face went bright red with pure fury, her heavy elder cloak swinging roughly as she fought back. Her old frame was practically vibrating with the arrogant aura of a proper conservative she-wolf.
I purposely stopped in my tracks, took a deep breath, and put on a fake hesitant face.
I turned to Scott, playing the situation to make it look like I actually respected the pack’s traditional laws.
"I'm proper sorry, Alpha Scott... but Elder Ruth is a senior she-wolf," I said, keeping my voice dead low, letting a bit of manufactured doubt creep into my tone. "I'm worried that searching her by force might look dead disrespectful and cross the line with our pack's etiquette."
Hearing that, Scott let out a proper frustrated grunt. He’d completely lost his temper, his eyes flashing deep gold with the impatient red pendar of an Alpha’s dominance.
Without wasting a single second, Scott broke the deadlock. Using the internal mind-link, he barked an order to one more wolf.
\[Beta Irina, get your arse into my office right now. No arguments!\]
Scott’s booming baritone roared through the mind-link so hard that I and every single working wolf connected to it could hear it crystal clear.
It didn't even take two minutes before there was a sharp knock at the door, and Beta Irina strode in, looking dead serious. She instantly picked up on the tension that was ready to blow the room apart.
"What's the situation, Alpha?" Irina asked sharply.
"Search Ruth. Now!" Scott ordered flat out, pointing at the old woman who was finally starting to tremble in the corner.
Beta Irina didn't ask a single question. As the pack's enforcer, she stepped right up to Elder Ruth, who was still swearing up a storm. Completely ignoring the old woman's seniority, Irina's hands deftly sorted through the folds of Ruth's thick cloak.
In just a few seconds, Irina stopped at the inside pocket. With one sharp yank, she pulled out a tiny glass bottle, barely a few inches long, filled with a thick, dark purple liquid.
Irina turned and tossed the bottle straight to me. "Have a proper look at this, Hunter Erick."
I took the vial, pretending to study it intently under the dim light. I popped the stopper slightly, letting that sickly sweet, dizzying vapor waft out.
"This is definitely a love potion, Alpha Scott," I said deadpan, making sure every single word sliced right through whatever bit of trust Scott had left. "A high-level dark magic concoction, brewed specifically to rot a target's free will. It’s identical to the gunk spilled all over your floor earlier."
I stepped forward and popped the bottle down right on Scott’s desk.
From where I stood, I could see the absolute, terrifying fury completely shattering the Alpha’s sanity. His jaw clenched so hard the veins on his neck looked ready to pop, and his crushing Alpha aura just exploded.
Scott gripped the edge of his desk until the thick wood split. He locked a proper predatory stare straight onto Elder Ruth.
"Tell me the bleedin' truth, Ruth!" Scott roared, his voice proper raspy and shaking from the absolute storm of emotion. "Own up right now! What exactly happened the night Lulu's heart was stolen?! Who’s the dark sorcerer you’ve been working with?!"
Instead of shaking with fear, Elder Ruth actually straightened her back. Her true, manipulative, gaslighting self came right back out. She stared at Scott with watery eyes, trying to warp the entire situation using the exact same tone she’d used since he was a tot.
"You’re accusing me, Scott? After everything I’ve done for you?!" Ruth screeched, acting like the bloody victim. "I’m the one who raised you after your dad died! I’m the one who made sure you took the throne as a respected Alpha! Without my guidance, you’d be absolutely nothing! And now you’re believing the rubbish of a low-life hunter and accusing your own foster mother?!"
Seeing Scott freeze for a split second because of their past bond, I knew I had to lock Ruth down before he went soft. But Scott was already too deeply wounded by the betrayal. He shut his eyes tight.
"Enough, Ruth," Scott whispered, his voice sounding dead cold, like ice straight out of hell. "Considering everything you did for me growing up, I won't have you executed today. But from this exact moment, you’re under house arrest for the rest of your life. Every single bit of your power on the Elders' council is completely stripped."
"What?! You can't do this to me, Scott!" Ruth screamed hysterically as Beta Irina and two massive guards grabbed her by the arms to drag her out.
As her body was pulled towards the door, Ruth’s polite facade completely shattered. She let out a loud, mocking laugh, a proper unhinged cackle packed with pure malice. "Hahaha! Lock me up then, Scott! But I'll tell you this, I'm absolutely over the moon that the miserable little wench Lulu suffered!"
Scott flinched, his fists clenching so tight his nails dug right into his palms, drawing blood.
Ruth kept screaming at the top of her lungs all the way down the corridor, making sure her voice echoed to rip apart any leftover hope Scott had.
"Listen to me, you stupid Alpha! You can hold me, you can lock me away! But Lulu is never coming back to you! Right now, she's the true mate of Alpha Caspian, and she's the bloody Luna of Sapphire Water! You’ve lost her forever, Scott... forever!"
The corridor door slammed shut proper hard, cutting off Ruth’s screaming, but those last words completely demolished Scott’s remaining defenses.
I stood in the corner of the room, tracking the massive shift on Scott’s face with my hunter's eyes.
The burning rage from earlier vanished in an instant, replaced by a deep, terrifying panic. The Alpha’s face went dead pale, his golden eyes completely losing their spark, leaving him looking proper fragile.
The bloke who usually stood so tall and untouchable completely slumped back into his massive chair, his shoulders dropping. Pure, belated regret was choking him alive. He looked entirely broken, a proper miserable sight.
A monster ruined by his own sheer stupidity.
"Lulu... Sapphire Water..." Scott muttered, his voice raspy and barely a whisper. Proper tears of regret were welling up in his eyes.
Seeing this absolute goldmine of a moment, I stepped forward, putting on my best loyal face to calm him down.
"Steady on, Alpha Scott. Keep your chin up," I said softly, while laughing my head off on the inside. At the same time, I sent an emergency mind-link to summon Beta Leighton to the office straight away.
"I have to see her, Erick..." Scott suddenly looked up, grabbing my arm with a desperate, wild grip. "I have to get to Sapphire Water. I need to take back my mate, take back my boy! I don't give a toss about Caspian!"
Right on cue, Beta Leighton stepped into the room. He caught the tail end of Scott’s sentence and sussed out the messy situation immediately. Being the efficient right-hand man he is, Leighton offered an option right away.
"If that's your order, Alpha, I can arrange a secret route and schedule for us to head to Sapphire Water territory straight away."
"Sort it now, Leighton!" Scott cut him off without a second thought, his eyes lighting up again with a dangerous mix of frustration and pure, burning jealousy. "I’m bringing Lulu home, no matter what it takes!"
I took a step back, crossing my arms over my chest while hiding a wicked smirk behind a blank face. My mission as a spy was pretty much done.
Elder Ruth’s toxic influence was completely neutralized, and now I’d managed to send Scott’s head into an absolute spin, leaving him sick with anxiety and rage over the mate bond between Lulu and Alpha Caspian.
Let the stupid wolf run straight to his own funeral in Sapphire Water.
