Chapter 241 EPILOGUE 8

Chapter 241 EPILOGUE 8
\~~~SERENA.

“You really think you can survive another round of diapers and toddler negotiations, Mr. Hale?” I teased softly, trailing my fingertips lazily across the hard expanse of his chest while the warm breeze drifted over us from the open balcony doors.

Damien caught my hand, pressing a warm, lingering kiss right into the center of my palm before pulling me closer until there wasn't a single inch of space left between our bodies. His dark eyes burned with an intense, steady heat that still made my heart race just like it did on the very first day we crossed paths.

“For you, Serena? I would fight an army,” Damien murmured, his voice a deep, husky rumble that sent a delicious shiver straight down my spine. He shifted his weight, his large hands sliding up my back with deliberate, unhurried care, tracing the curve of my spine as his gaze locked onto mine. “If you want another baby, we’ll build another empire. But right now... my entire focus belongs right here.”

“Good,” I whispered, a breathless smile touching my lips as I looped my arms around his neck, pulling him down to meet me. “Prove it.”

He didn't need to be told twice. His mouth found mine again in a slow, deep, intoxicating kiss that made the rest of the world completely disappear. Every bit of the playful teasing and mock-arguments from earlier melted away, replaced by a fierce, quiet devotion that had only grown stronger over the years.

His lips parted mine, his tongue sweeping lazily against my own, tasting of the sweet espresso we had shared hours earlier. I let out a soft sigh against his mouth, my fingers tangling in the thick, dark waves of his hair as his kisses traveled slowly down along my jawline, lingering in the sensitive hollow of my throat.

“Damien...” I breathed out his name like a prayer, my back arching slightly as his hands slid down to grip my waist, burning hot against my skin.

“I am right here, sweetheart,” he muttered against my skin, his voice thick with a raw, unfiltered desire that made my chest ache in the best possible way. He pressed a trail of hot, worshipful kisses down my collarbone, his hands smoothing over my curves with a reverence that told me without words just how much he cherished every single inch of me.

I tangled my legs around his hips, pulling him down harder against me, gasping as the friction of our bodies sent a sharp wave of electric heat rushing through my veins.

“Look at me,” Damien whispered, propping himself up slightly on one elbow to stare down into my eyes, his chest rising and falling heavily. The moonlight caught the sharp angles of his face, highlighting the fierce, absolute love shining in his dark gaze. “You are my life, Serena. Never forget that.”

“I won't,” I promised, my voice trembling slightly as I reached up to cup his cheek, tracing the rough stubble along his jaw. “Make love to me, Damien. Make me yours all over again.”

A low, primal rumble vibrated deep in his chest. He lowered his mouth back to mine, sealing our promise in a kiss that was fierce, consuming, and utterly breathtaking. His movements were deliberate and unhurried, savoring every single sigh, every shiver, every single gasp that slipped past my lips.

When he moved into me, the world tilted on its axis. It wasn't a rush but a slow, agonizingly sweet exploration of everything we had built together, every battle we had won, and every scar we had healed. Every slow, measured slide of his body against mine felt like a declaration of war against the dark, lonely past we had left behind.

“Damien... oh God, Damien,” I chanted, my fingernails digging lightly into the strong muscles of his back as the rhythm between us began to deepen and quicken, building a fiery pressure deep inside my chest that threatened to consume us both.

“I’ve got you,” he panted, his forehead resting against mine, our breaths mingling in the warm air as his pace grew harder, steadier, driving us both closer to the edge. “Look at me, Serena. Keep your eyes on me.”

I stared straight into his dark, blazing eyes, holding onto him like he was my entire anchor to the earth. The friction built into a blinding, white-hot storm, every nerve ending in my body singing with electric heat until the world finally splintered apart.

“Damien!” I cried out, my back arching off the mattress as a massive, shattering wave of release crashed over me, pulling a ragged gasp from my lips.

Hearing my voice pushed him right over the edge. With a low, desperate groan, Damien drove into me one last time, his entire body locking up as his own explosive release ripped through him, burying his face in my neck as he whispered my name over and over again into my skin.

For a long time, neither of us moved.

We simply collapsed together onto the tangled white sheets, tangled in each other's arms, breathing heavily as our racing hearts slowly began to slow down against one another. The cool breeze washed over our slick skin, bringing a peaceful quiet to the room.

I rested my head securely against his broad chest, listening to the steady, reassuring thud of his heart beneath my ear, tracing lazy circles on his skin with my fingertips.

“Penny for your thoughts, wife,” Damien murmured softly after a long moment, pressing a gentle kiss into my hair as his arm wrapped securely around my shoulders, keeping me locked against him.

I smiled against his chest, a deep, overflowing warmth spreading through my entire body.

“I was just here thinking... I bless the exact day I walked into your intimidating glass office to propose marriage to you,” I whispered softly, a fond chuckle slipping out of me.

Damien went completely still for a second, before a deep, rumbling laugh shook his entire chest. He tilted my chin up with his fingers so he could look down into my face, a gorgeous, affectionate smile softening his harsh features.

“Damn, honey,” Damien murmured, his voice thick with sheer amusement and profound respect. “You were so brave walking into my office like you owned the place. I knew at that exact, crazy moment that you were going to be mine for the rest of my life.”

“You thought I was out of my mind,” I teased, narrowing my eyes playfully.

“I thought you were the most dangerous, beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on,” Damien corrected smoothly, leaning down to press one final, slow, tender kiss to my lips. “And I’ve thanked my lucky stars every single day since.”

I wrapped my arms tighter around his waist, snuggling deeper into his embrace as the silence settled around us, warm, safe, and completely perfect.
