Chapter 2129 2139
Chapter 2129 2139
In truth, Feng Lan had initially harbored doubts about the validity of Caleb's claims.
Yet on his journey here, he reasoned that Caleb wouldn't have spoken out of nowhere; if it were fabricated, spreading such a malicious rumor about a Prophet would mean an outright, irrevocable break with the Ancient Clan.
Caleb wasn't foolish enough to make such a reckless move.
Now that every single person from Soul Hall had been wiped out, his suspicions flared up with renewed intensity.
A sudden realization hit him, and he pivoted his gaze toward Archie. "Caleb and Starling are both dead? You killed them?"
"I killed them!" Liam said with a faint smile.
"What?" The Sword-Bearer Elder stared directly at Liam. "You killed them? You..."
"That's right. You previously claimed that I wouldn't be able to reach the Permanent-Tier Flame Decay level within three years. Well, I guess I got lucky—it didn't take three years, only about a week or so. Honestly, reaching the Permanent-Tier doesn't seem nearly as difficult as you made it out to be," Liam shrugged casually.
Hearing those words, the corners of everyone nearby twitched involuntarily.
The sheer audacity of that statement was enough to punch a wall.
Yet they had to admit—Liam was a genuine monster.
Even the Sword-Bearer Elder wore a look of utter astonishment, scanning Liam up and down repeatedly. After a long silence, he let out a slow, heavy breath. "So... you ended up slaughtering everyone Soul Hall sent, including two Permanent-Tier powerhouses?"
"We're in the middle of a desperate war against Pluto Palace, and every single Permanent-Tier expert holds immense weight. Do you even realize what killing two of them means?" Feng Lan directed those words squarely at Archie.
"I'm the one who killed them. Am I supposed to just stand there with a blade at my throat and not fight back?" Liam retorted flatly.
Feng Lan lowered his gaze, falling into deep thought for a long moment. Finally, he raised his head and looked at Archie. "Elena is inside the base, isn't she?"
"She's inside!" Liam answered for him.
"Then bring her out so I can take a look and determine for myself whether she possesses the Prophecy Trait!" Feng Lan demanded.
Liam let out a scoff. "Determine for yourself?"
"She's merely at the Half-Step Flame Decay limit. What kind of terrifying trait could she possibly have?" Liam said coolly.
"Just let me see her and run a simple test; then everything will be clear," Feng Lan said, shifting his piercing gaze back to Archie. "Refusing to let her out only proves you have something to hide, Archie. You know full well what the Prophecy Trait represents. You'd better weigh your choices carefully—for the sake of the Ancient Clan, and for the entire planet."
"What a joke!" Liam sneered. "By your logic, if anyone wants to spread a random rumor claiming a Prophet exists, we have to dance to their tune? If we set this precedent today, won't that mean anyone from your factions can throw out a baseless accusation tomorrow, forcing any member of the Ancient Clan to step out and submit to your random checks?"
With a cold, mocking laugh, Liam added, "Fine, then! Right now, I suspect that the Empress of the Eternal Nation actually possesses a twin trait, and her second hidden ability is prophecy—making her a Prophet as well. Why don't you have her come out here and let us test her?"
The moment those words left Liam's lips, a razor-sharp, overwhelming aura erupted from the Sword-Bearer Elder's body. "Liam, do you really think that just because you've broken through to the Permanent-Tier, there's no one left in this world who can touch you? Others might be afraid of the Drunkard, but I, Feng Lan, am certainly not!"
His eyes burning with intensity, he growled, "Call Elena out. Once I verify her strength and confirm she's only at the Half-Step Flame Decay limit, this matter will be dropped."
He glared daggers at Liam. "Liam, you'd better stay out of this. If you don't, even the Drunkard won't be able to protect you!"
Liam licked his lips. "When I was only at the Saint-Tier Flame Decay level, I didn't fear your eight major factions, let alone now that I've reached the Permanent-Tier. Why would I start being scared of you now? If you want to test Elena, fine—I have only one condition: I suspect the Empress is a Prophet, so you bring the Empress out here for me to test first. The moment you do, I'll let Elena come out and play along!"
"Liam!" Atop Feng Lan's head, his long white hair whipped about without a breath of wind, and the silver-white sword strapped to his back began to vibrate violently.
Liam's hand instinctively dropped to the hilt of his Dragon-Roar Blade. Even so, deep down, he couldn't shake his inner unease—after all, the man standing before him was undeniably one of the absolute pinnacle powerhouses on the entire Myriad Tribulation Star.
