Chapter Two Hundred And Twenty Three
Chapter Two Hundred And Twenty Three
Camille’s POV
The elevator doors slid open, revealing the dimly lit penthouse suite that Theo had prepared for us. Candlelight flickered across the room, soft and warm, casting golden shadows on the walls. The moment we stepped inside, he closed the door behind us and the world outside disappeared completely.
Theo looked down at me, his eyes steady, full of a quiet devotion that made my heart tighten.
“My wife,” Theo breathed, tracing my jaw as if memorizing it. “After all the chaos, after every hand that tried to tear you from me… you’re finally mine. Truly mine. And I will never let anything pull you away again.”
Those words… they settled deep in my chest.
I lifted my face to him, and he swept me into his arms in one smooth motion, carrying me across the room as though the weight of everything we had survived finally shifted into something tender.
When he placed me gently on the bed, he didn’t rush. He didn’t hunger. He simply looked at me as if he was memorizing every line of my face.
“Camille,” he whispered, his forehead resting against mine, “I will never leave you again… not in this life or the next.” His hand slid to my waist, firm, claiming, pulling me closer until there was no space left between us. “You’re mine now,” he breathed, voice rough with feeling. “After everything we fought through… after everyone who tried to tear us apart… you’re finally where you belong. With me.”
I lifted my hand to the side of his neck and pulled him down to me, claiming him the same way he’d spent months claiming every part of my heart. Our lips met, slow only for a heartbeat, before he deepened the kiss, possessive and sure, like he was reminding me who I belonged to.
His hands slid over my shoulders, gripping my waist with a reverence that felt like hunger and worship mixed together. He held me tight against him, breathing me in, kissing me like a man who had finally taken back what was his and had no intention of ever letting go again.
He undressed me gently, with reverence in every touch, and I did the same to him, learning the warmth of his skin, the strength in his breath, the softness in the way he held my face.
When our bodies finally pressed together, there was no shadow of the past left in the room, only the man who had fought for me and the woman who had learned to love again.
Our wedding night was emotional, tender, passionate… a quiet kind of fire that didn’t burn, it restored.
Later, when we lay wrapped in each other, my head on his chest, his fingers combing through my hair, I felt something settle inside me, steady and warm.
Theo kissed the top of my head. “You’re safe with me, Camille. Always.”
I closed my eyes, letting his heartbeat calm mine. “And you… you’re the only man I will ever belong to.”
His arms tightened around me as if those words were the vows he needed most.
We drifted into sleep tangled together, fingers intertwined.
Mrs. Camille Black.
The name echoed softly in my mind before sleep pulled me under.
I woke to warm sunlight across my face and Theo kissing my cheek with a small smile.
“Good morning, wife,” he whispered.
I couldn’t help the smile that pulled at my lips. “Good morning, Mr. Black.”
We ate breakfast together in the quiet, stealing small kisses between bites, laughing softly at nothing. It was simple. It was peaceful. It was ours.
By noon, Theo took my hand and guided me into the private elevator leading to the Black Group executive floor. Security bowed their heads as we walked past. The staff whispered softly:
“Mrs. Black…”
“The Mafia Queen…”
“She survived everything.”
Theo walked beside me proudly, his hand never leaving mine.
When we stepped into the boardroom, every investor stood.
The respect was instant.
Theo pulled out a chair for me at the head of the table, beside his, not behind it.
“Mrs. Black will be part of every major decision moving forward,” he announced.
There was no hesitation.
No objections.
Only admiration.
I glanced at Theo, and the warmth in his eyes made my heart swell.
One investor presented a contract with hidden, exploitative terms. I skimmed through the pages, lifted a pen, and struck out three lines.
“This clause gives you too much power,” I said calmly. “Black Group doesn’t enter partnerships built on imbalance.”
The entire room shifted.
The investor swallowed. “You’re… absolutely right, Mrs. Black. I’ll revise it immediately.”
Theo watched me with a pride so intense it softened the sharp edges of his usual composure.
He believed in me.
Not just as his wife.
But as his partner.
In the days that followed, I attended strategy meetings, reviewed deals, and settled conflicts with calm authority. Every room I walked into adjusted to me, voices lowered, spines straightened.
Allies greeted me with respect.
Enemies watched with caution.
Behind closed doors, people whispered:
“She’s not just Theo’s wife…”
“She’s the one shaping the future of Black Group.”
“She’s the new power in the city.”
And for the first time, I felt it too.
Power, stability and purpose.
Theo and I stood side by side at the tall windows overlooking the city one evening. His arm slid around my waist.
“You were made for this,” he said quietly.
I leaned into him, gazing at the skyline glowing beneath us.
“I’m not hiding anymore,” I replied. “Not from anyone.”
He kissed my temple. “Good. Because this world finally knows who you are.”
Camille Black.
Wife. Partner. Queen.
The woman who survived storms…
and now stood beside a king.
