Chapter 26 His Princess
Zane's POV
When I flew all the way back home to surprise Arielle the last thing I expected was to see her faint and then rush her to the hospital then get stuck by her bedside tending to her ever needs but isn't life intriguing when it's full of surprises?
“It seems she is under a lot of stress and pressure lately, it is most likely that some force had elevated her blood pressure and it's an external factor, the same day she fainted.” The Doctor had outrightly told me.
“Is everything else okay?” I asked him.
“Yes and I must say that it's absolutely remarkable that she has scar tissues that have healed quite well. Did she get any work done or surgeries? I know it's quite popular among models these day-”
“Thank you for your professional service and I'd learn to bridle that tongue of yours if I were you else you'd lose it.” I warned, threatening him before walking out of his office.
“Do you want me to go after her?” Leo asked but I shook my head.
“No, she'll be back soon.” I assured him.
“I'm not so sure, I've seen Miss Lisa frequent this hospital the past few days. She might run into her and we both know Lisa is a walking time bomb.” Leo informed me.
I sighed, knowing what he meant but I want Arielle to be independent and handle her own business, sooner than later I'll have to leave everything in her hands and there are wars I cannot fight on her behalf.
“She'll be fine. She can take care of herself.”
Leo hesitated then he nodded his head, reluctantly obeying me. I could tell he was hiding something, the way his brows were furrowed, the distant look in his eyes and how he avoided eye contact with me? Something is definitely up with Leo but I decided it would be best to let it be, at least for the time being.
Arielle emerged from wherever she claimed she went to and she had a very satisfied look on her face, as if she had conquered a rebellious nation.
“You look happy, did something intense happen while you went to the washroom?” I asked as she walked up to us, holding the car door for her. She got in gingerly and patted the seat beside her, gesturing for me to get in.
I cackled and got in with her.
Oh darling.” She drawled, “you have no idea.”
Her smile and confidence was contagious so I cleared my throat, invested in what she had to say while the car was set in motion.
“Tell me about it, little bear.”
“You seem to have different names for me, will you ever stick to one?”
“I like to keep things spontaneous and interesting.’ I said with a flirtatious smile.
“I love thrills, especially the ones that pump up my adrenaline and I have a feeling I won't be getting off this high for a very long time.” She responded with an energy too her fir her present health condition.
“Keep it in your pants tigress, you still need to rest alot.” I laughed and she tuts at me.
Throughout our ride home, she was chatting non-stop, she had so many things to say which ranged from her experiences at the office to the fun little sessions she's had. It was like she couldn't wait to spill it all and even when we arrived home and I walked her to her room, she was still beaming with smiles.
“Its good to be back home isn't it?” I asked, rhetorically.
I heard a Plop and saw Arielle on the bed, she had thrown herself on the bed like a tired and excited teenager returning from a nasty camp.
“I've missed my bed. The softness and comfort is what I've dreamt of for days.”
I laughed at her silliness as she rolled on the bed, hugging her pillows. “Here I was, thinking that you'd jump into my arms the moment you come here but I guess the bed has that effect on you.”
She stuck out her tongue at me and exhaled. “You didn't tell me you'd be coming back so soon, maybe your unexpected visit is the real casual effect of my heart attack, who knows?”
“Oh darling, as much as I'd like to make your heart raced, my game doesn't involve having to take you to the hospital, I prefer to see you sweating, panting and begging for more of me, not in a hospital gown though you look damn attractive in anything you wear.” I flirted and she blushed, though she tried to hide it.
“Go away you pervert!” She cried, hurling a pillow which i effortlessly dodged.
“You should get some rest. As much as I'd love to stay so you'd stare longer on my beautiful face, I need to get some work done.”
