Chapter 20 Her support

Chapter 20 Her support

Adrian's POV

Lisa was being a pain in the neck, overreacting over Rielle and Arielle. After dropping her in the room, I headed to the car. I reached for the doorknob when my phone pinged. I lifted my phone, turning the screen on. The message was from an unknown number, making me hesitant to click.

I did.

“I know what you did!” The message reads.

My forehead creased as I wondered what sort of a crazy person sent that.

I waited, seeing the person was still typing. Seconds later, another message dropped.

“On the night Arielle died and her house was set on fire”

“I know who did it!”

I chuckled seeing the messages. “Who's this person?”

Every word in the message looked nothing less than a joke. Someone was jobless, and all they could think of was to send me messages that are nothing more than pranks.

I got into the car, flipping my phone into the glove compartment before I ignited the car.

Minutes later, I walked into the agency. I was about to settle down when my gaze flicked to my desk.

An envelope I hadn't noticed before I left earlier was placed on the desk. I picked it up hesitantly, tearing it open. The envelope was filled with pictures, making me blink.

“When I kissed Lisa”

“When Arielle was lying on the hospital bed, her whole burnt body covered in bandages”

“When her blood was being transfused to Lisa”

“How is this possible?” My voice shook slightly, confusion creeping into my tone.

My face turned pale, skin getting cold and hands getting clammy. Someone knows. I turned my gaze to the rest of the people in the room and asked. “Who saw anyone drop this here?”

I raised the envelope, but my face dropped when all I got was negative responses.

This was alarming, shocking. At the moment, I recalled the content of the messages sent to me earlier.

“I know what you did!”

I gulped, shaking my head to shake the thought off. No one knows, everything is still just a cruel joke.

Before I could finish processing all that needed to be processed in my head, my phone snapped me back to the room.

Mira was calling. I picked it up immediately.

Her voice came from the other end of the phone, panicked and restless. “Someone… they sent me pictures”

My eyes widened. “Arielle's?”

“Yes. Did you get them too?” She asked.

My voice was low, words in a mutter. “Yes. It's driving me crazy”

“What do we do? Arielle's ghost is haunting me!” She cried, her voice getting more shaky.

“Calm down. There's nothing like a ghost” I retorted calmly.

“No, I'm so sure it's her ghost. No one knows, no one is supposed to know” she cried.

“I'll….” I trailed off, not knowing what to say. “I need to think. You also get yourself together. There's. No. Ghost” I said.

I ended the call, unintentionally slamming my phone to the desk as I tried to catch my breath.

Arielle's ghost? No, that's not possible.

Not even a minute had passed when another call came in. This time, it was Lisa.

“Help me, Adrian!” She yelled.

I became alarmed, eyes darting around in terror.

“What happened? Tell me everything is alright” I said, panicked.

“There's blood…. The mirror…” she stuttered.

“Calm down, Lisa. Take a deep breath and tell me everything. What happened?” I asked.

I had little patience in me at the moment. I was getting worried sick, going crazy over everything that had been happening.

“There’s blood on the mirror in the bathroom” she paused.

My gaze furrowed. “Blood?”

“Written on the mirror…..” She recited. “I’m watching you murderer. I know what you did. A life for a life.”

I went silent for a while, knowing this same incident had a connection with what had happened with Mira and I.

“Don't worry about it. I'll look into it” I tried to assure her. “I know it's just one of your obsessed fans”

“I'm scared. I'm confused” Lisa panicked.

“Don't be. I'll look into it” I assured her then the call ended.

Immediately, I put a call across to Mira. She picked up seconds later.

“We need to meet. The cafe near the agency” I told her then ended the call.

Immediately, I moved out of the agency, heading to the cafe.

Minutes later, Mira arrived.

“She's haunting me, I'm scared” she said in a whisper when she settled down on the chair.

Her gaze wouldn't stop going around the room, like she was afraid Arielle's ghost would appear.

“I'll look into this and find out what the actual fuck is happening. So just keep your mouth shut for the sake of Lisa” I warned.

“I won't slip. You keep your mouth shut” she retorted.

Everything was fine. I was able to calm Lisa down. But not until Mira's call came in late at night.

I was already on the bed, getting ready to sleep when she called.

“Please come over, I'm scared” her voice was low, muffled, shaky.

“I'll be there” I said in a whisper before I walked out in my pajamas, picked the car keys and headed to Mira's.

The door to the house was not locked, and she was pacing right at the top of the stairs.

“Adrian” she called.

“What's wrong?” I stood beside her. Her face was pale, tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

“I can't do this anymore. I had a dream, I think we need to confess” she said.

A joke.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked, my gaze darkening.

“I don't know about you, but I'm going to confess,” she said.

“No, you won't!” I yelled. “Yes, I will!” She retorted.

My head spinned. If she does, then we are both cooked. I can't let her. No way I'm letting her tell the world what we did to Arielle.

My hands reached her and I pushed her. She went down the stairs with a shrill scream, her head hitting a few staircases before she landed on the floor.

Blood oozed from her head, pooling the ground, and all I did was watch.
