Chapter Eighty-Seven
Chapter Eighty-Seven
Olivia
The first thing I feel is pain. I'm painful everywhere. I feel like a train and a truck collide with each other with me in the middle. I stay as still as I can as I listen the the pains in my body. They're already too much for me to move. I also keep my eyes closed as I process what actually happened to me and how I got to where I am.
From the smell of medication in the room, I know I'm in the hospital. I also remember why I'm here. I don't know though, how long I've been out of it. I also don't know how deep my scars go. I just hope that I will be able to heal fast. I don't want to stay in the hospital in a foreign country for too long. I'd rather Jason move me back home.
As soon as my husband's name crosses my mind, I open my eyes and look around. Only moving my eyes, I see him sleeping on the chair with his head on the bed next to me. I also notice that I'm in what looks like a bedroom and not in the hospital. But it also doesn't look like the room we slept in in Desiree's house.
I move my fingers to see if I have any movement in my body, when I move them without excruciating pain I move my hand slowly until I reach his hair. He wakes up immediately and looks up at me then stands up and kisses my forehead. When he asks me if I'd like some water, I nod my head slightly and he gets me some then helps me to drink.
"How are you feeling?"
"Painful." I answer him, my voice coming out low and course.
"The doctor will be in any second now. I've missed you." He says with a sad smile.
The door opens and in walks a woman wearing a lab coat. She greets me then takes a clipboard from the side table on the other side then scribbles on it.
"I'm glad to see that you're awake. I imagine you feel worn out and are in pains. I won't be long so that you can rest." She says after putting the clipboard down.
She then walks to the side that Jason is standing in and takes out a small pen and shines a light to my eyes. Once she is done with that, she checks if I can move my hands and other bodily parts. After she is done with testing me, she tells Jason that someone will be in with food for me to eat as she scribbles again on the board then she walks out of the room.
"How long have I been out?" I ask him after I find my voice.
"Two days. The doctor said that as long as you're awake then you should be fine though." He answers.
"How are my babies doing?"
"Your mom is taking care of them. They have been crying for you though." He says with a sad smile.
I am glad mom is helping take care of my babies. I know Jason wouldn't have been able to do it all alone, although we had someone to help us during this trip. I want so bad to ask about Desiree but I am scared. The thought of losing my only friend and best friend scares me. I hope that she is ok though. Although I have a feeling that if she is ok, that her baby is not. But I will be there for her as long as she needs me.
As if hearing my thoughts Jason says, "Desiree is also ok. But her baby didn't make it. She went through multiple surgeries. She wasn't awake when I went to check on her a few hours ago."
My heart breaks for her at Jason's words. I can't imagine how she's going to feel when she wakes up, if she hasn't yet. She and her husband were so excited that they were expecting. I also wonder how Demitrius is holding up currently. I'm sure it's worse that he will have to break the news to her.
"I want to see her." I tell Jason, my voice heavy with emotion.
"You will as soon as the doctor gives her consent. I promise." I nod my head as he says that.
The door opens and a server walks in with a covered tray. After Jason assures her that he will feed me, she goes. After I'm done with the soup and Jason drives the tray out to the passage, I feel sleep heavily picking on me and I sleep.
I'm not ready yet to see my babies, I don't want them to see me as battered as I feel. Although they are young, I know they are able to sense my feelings as well as Jason's. I miss them so much, but until I am able to hold them in my arms without feeling any pain, I won't allow for them to be in my room.
I'm startled awake from a dream that felt too real. I was back in that place again, and I was watching as a woman kept on kicking Desiree over and over again. I kept telling her to stop, that she was hurting her and was going to kill the baby. She kept on kicking her although Desiree was unconscious. The more I begged her was the more she kicked her, saying that Demitrius didn't deserve happiness. That she was the only one who will carry his heir.
I am alone in the room, no sign of Jason anywhere and I wonder where he went. I lift my hand slowly as to wipe the tears rolling down the side of my face as I try to calm my heart down. I know it's a memory, that It can't be a dream. I know I saw all that happening. I am happy though that Desiree was out of it to know what was happening. But I'm sad at the same time that she was destroyed that way. I can't imagine how she feels right now.
The door opens and Demitri walks in with Jason, he looks so devastated, so sad that it breaks my heart. He smiles when he sees me and I know it breaks his heart that I'm awake while his wife is still under it.
"How are you feeling?" He asks after a while.
"Better. How is Des doing?" I ask him to break the ice and I see his face fall.
"Better I hope. She hasn't woken yet, but the doctor is positive she will soon." He answers.
"I hope she does soon." I tell him. "How are you doing?" I ask and he remains silent as he swallows.
I wait for him to get himself together. I know it's hard for him. His other half is asleep and he doesn't know when she will wake up. I don't ever want to know that feeling, I hope I never do.
"I will be fine. Please excuse me." He says then turns and heads out the door.
