Chapter Seventy-Nine
Chapter Seventy-Nine
Olivia
Mrs Belle and mom left late on Sunday. Kyle was already gone when we headed downstairs. They said I must find someone to help me part time with the kids but honestly I'm quite enjoying this stage of being a mom. Of taking care of them. Yes, I agree with them that I need help, but they are there to help me when I need help. Plus I don't want to have my kids be raised by a nanny. If there's a fault to be done, then I want to do it personally and be able to fix it.
Jason and I have decided that it would be a good idea to let the kids sleep in their bedroom next week when they turn three months. We want to have our own privacy in our bedroom. We don't want to have to move to another room when we have sex. We want to fuck freely without stressing about the kids listening to us. I mean we know they are young and don't really understand or even know what is going on, but we don't want to traumatize them at this young age.
With Jason at work today, and the kids sleeping peacefully, I am in my kitchen. Test driving the oven with a little something sweet. It's been too long since I have baked, so I figure since I'm bored I might as well be busy with something I like. Being home alone all day is getting to be boring these days. I can't wait to have the kids grown and running around in the house, or maybe crawling around.
Just as I'm about to start mixing, my phone rings. It's a number I recognise quiet well. I don't even know why Scarlett is calling me. Especially after so long and after the way she acted towards me with Jason's mom. I let it go to voicemail. I don't have time for her. But persistent as she is, she calls me again and I let it go to voicemail again. When she calls for the third time, I decide to answer it to see what the hell she wants.
"What do you want Scarlett?"
"You still have my number I see." She sounds pleased at that thought.
"No actually, I don't. Why are you calling me?"
"Is that how you talk to your best friend?" She asks and I keep quiet, waiting to see if she thinks I will take the bait. When I don't say anything after a few seconds she continues talking. "I thought I should call and invite you to Matt and I's wedding next month." She says smugly.
One thing is know about this girl is that she was never one to easily make friends. People didn't like her much, one girl once told me that she's too fake and too good at pretending. It might be true what she is saying, I don't know and I don't care. I will not even be attending her wedding, I'm not interested.
"Are you done?" I ask her.
"No. Since I know you're still pining over our friendship I decided to make you the maid of honour."
And there it is. The real reason she called. She hasn't found a replacement for me. She wants to spin this around and make it as if I still want to be friends with her. And just to show her that I don't care for her friendship or her, I cut the call and block her. I don't know why I never did that in the first place.
I hear the monitor beep then the sound of a cry. Issa is crying. I know how they cry, I've memorised how they cry by heart. I hurry to the lift, thankful the phone call delayed me of mixing. When I get to the bedroom, I see that her bottle still has milk inside. I don't know if maybe the milk doesn't make her full. She started crying recently everytime she finishes her milk. And even if I make her another bottle, she drinks it and still cries, sometimes she just leaves it half full and just cries.
I don't know if it's a good idea to start feeding her. She only two months. But I read that some babies start solid food young. I also read that I can mix baby formula with baby food. But I'm thinking that going to the doctor to consult would be a good idea. Maybe get advice from someone who knows what they are doing.
I pick her up and walk around with her rubbing her back soothingly so that she calms down, while I check on her brothers to make sure they are still sleeping. I pick up her bottle of milk and give it to her but she starts crying again and I put it down. I call Jason and ask him to ask Rudy to buy baby food and bring it. I'd rather ask the doctor after I've already started feeding her. He doesn't ask questions. He knows how Issa has been acting these past few days.
Almost an hour later, Rudy arrives with a couple of boxes saying he didn't know which one to take. He helps me with Issa while I mix the two. After I'm done, I take her and give her the bottle. Just as he leaves, the two boys wake up crying also. I ask him to feed Issa so that I go up. When I come back downstairs with the boys, Issa is almost done with the bottle surprisingly and also sleepy. I give the boys their milk while Issa falls asleep in Rudy's arms and after she has fallen asleep, I take her upstairs to sleep in her cot while he stays with the boys.
After Rudy leaves and I make sure the boys are ok, I go to the kitchen to start on my cake mix. I'm making my favourite, chocolate with berries. It's been too long since I baked so I'm more than happy doing this. It doesn't take long for me to finish and put it in the oven. I start on the cream while I let it bake. When I'm done with everything and let it cool.
A glass of wine and I go sit with the boys in the sitting room. I get an idea to put them on a blanket on the floor so that they can play freely and maybe start practicing on crawling. Jason sent me a message saying he will be home early. When the boys sleep though, Issa decides to wake and I don't have time to take a bath before Jason gets home. Oh well he will watch them while I bath.
