Chapter 97: Sienna Slanders

Chapter 97: Sienna Slanders
The iron bar whistled as it plunged down. Evelyn tightly closed her eyes, curled into a ball, desperately protecting her abdomen.

“Stop!”

A sharp roar exploded from the basement doorway. The expected agony never came. The iron bar halted inches from Evelyn, a large, thick hand gripping Jenny’s wrist.

It was Captain Taylor, head of the mansion's security.

Jenny dropped the bar with a CLANG! The loud noise echoed in the basement, startling everyone.

“What are you doing?!” Captain Taylor shoved Jenny away. “Mr. Green told you to watch the mistress, not to commit murder! If someone dies, no one can protect you!”

Mary and Jenny turned pale, their arrogance gone. They shrank against the wall.

“We… we just wanted to teach her a lesson…” Mary stammered. “It was Miss Sienna…”

“Silence!” The Captain turned to Evelyn on the floor.

Evelyn was a mess. Her hair was dishevelled, her cheek was scraped and bleeding, and her beige jacket was covered in dust and stains. The bandage on her left arm was soaked in glaring red blood. But her hand remained stubbornly clamped over her lower abdomen.

“Mrs. Green, can you walk?” Captain Taylor helped her up.

Evelyn took his hand, standing despite the sharp pain in her knee. She bit back a cry. She picked up her cracked phone and looked at the two trembling maids.

“I will remember every single thing that happened today.” Her cold stare made the maids shiver.

Evelyn was taken back to the second-floor bedroom. The mansion returned to a deathly silence, as if the incident in the basement had never occurred.

Meanwhile, in the VIP room at Groni Hospital.

Damian sat by the bed, his brows furrowed. His tablet was filled with urgent emails from Omni Group's PR department. The “dog bite” scandal was worse than he had imagined.

Sienna lay in bed, her face streaked with tears, still weakly whimpering.

“Sienna,” Damian said, putting down his tablet. “The situation is terrible for the company. You need to record a video to clarify this.”

“Clarify? But… I’m so scared…”

“It has to be done. You must tell everyone this was Lillian’s personal action and that you had nothing to do with it. That’s the only way to save your reputation and the company's stock price.”

Sienna was smart; she knew she couldn’t cross Damian now. “Okay… For you, I’ll do anything.”

Ten minutes later, a video was posted to Sienna’s social media. In the video, Sienna wore an oversized hospital gown, pale and teary-eyed, looking utterly fragile. She started crying before she could even speak.

“I’m so sorry, everyone… I truly didn’t know it would come to this.” Sienna choked back a sob. “Lillian is my sister. I always thought she was just impulsive… until the police showed me the evidence. I learned she was bribed into doing something so terrible.”

She paused, a deliberate look of fear in her eyes. “Lillian told me that a former shareholder, Dennis, paid her a large sum to cause chaos. And Dennis… he’s close to certain people.”

“I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but Evelyn… if you truly hate me, come after me directly. Why use Lillian? Why ruin Omni Group’s reputation?”

Sienna bowed deeply to the camera. “As her sister, I take responsibility for failing to control her. But I am also a victim. Please, stop the online harassment…”

The video caused an instant uproar. Sienna not only cleared her own name but expertly shifted the blame back to Evelyn, hinting that Evelyn had colluded with the disgraced Dennis to frame her. She was a master of manipulation.

In the mansion bedroom, Evelyn leaned against the headboard, watching the utterly false video. Her stomach turned.

Just then, a text message popped up. It was from Sienna.

[Don’t think Damian letting you back in the mansion is him helping you. It's just for the company’s sake. You should know that no matter what you do, in this house, and in Damian’s heart, you are nothing but spare furniture. You saw it yourself. I don’t even need to lift a finger to teach you a lesson.]

It was a blatant provocation. Evelyn looked at her arm, the wound split open again, and recalled the iron bar swinging down in the basement. If security hadn't arrived in time, her baby…

“Enough.” Evelyn whispered.

All her patience, all her attempts to preserve the marriage, had only brought more harm. If they wouldn't let her live in peace, then no one would.

She opened an encrypted folder on her phone. It contained all the evidence she had secretly gathered while working on the Omni Group's "archival" project. It included proof of Damian’s embezzlement and the real face of Sienna’s tyranny.

She selected an audio recording—Sienna humiliating a new design assistant two months ago.

“This trash? You call this design? Is your brain full of shit? Grab your disgusting peasant face and get out! Don’t let me see you again!”

She also found screenshots of chats where Sienna instructed Lillian to steal designs from colleagues.

[Go take a picture of that intern’s sketches and send them to me. Be quick, don't get caught.]

[She has no connections anyway. Even if she complains, they’ll say she copied me.]

Finally, she added anonymous testimonies from former employees whom Sienna had forced out.

Evelyn bundled the evidence together, adding a single sentence:

[This is the real Sienna Marlowe.]

She clicked send.

In that moment, she was no longer the long-suffering wife, but a fighter determined to survive for her child and her freedom.
