LIAM

“It’s so good to see you Rosa.” I say cheerily as I open my arms to hug her unfortunately she didn’t respond to it.

“I’m so annoyed with you.”

“What have I done this time?”

“You’ve not been answering my calls!”

“Because I know how you get when I’m sick. You wouldn’t even let me lift a piece of paper and I know your detection skills never fail you. There’s no way I could have hidden it if I decided to respond to your call.”

“I forgive you because I know how I can be but you have to make it up to me.”

“Definitely.”

“Hope you are feeling a lot better because you look like it.”

“I am.”

“I dropped by the office and Veronica told me you’ve not been in for a while.”

“Yes, I decided to take the week off.”

“Liam I know would never take a leave except it has to do with Laura. Must have really been bad.”

“Yes it was but the doctor insisted that I needed rest, a lot of it.”

“Great. Where’s Laura?”

“She’s with my mum. How’s traveling round the continent coming along?”

“It’s been wonderful. Guess who is on the latest cover of vogue?”

“The world’s finest model, you.”

“This right here is why you are my dearest friend.”

“A privilege I do not take for granted, my lady.”

“You better not.” She says laughing.

“Don’t tell me you’ve been all by yourself?”

“No, Cara’s been helping me.”

“The same Cara you’ve been treating like trash?”

“Rosa, that’s in the past.”

“Does this have anything to do with something Mrs Hilton must have said?”

“Yes, in fact a lot. I’m so grateful you suggested I see her. I haven’t seen her since I got sick.”

“I’m really happy you are getting help. You can’t keep carrying around baggages.”

“Im trying to right my wrongs. I think I have been unfair to her.”

“You have. I trust you’ve apologised.”

“I have.”

“Where is she?”

“She’s at her place. She said she needed to sort somethings.”

“That’s fine. Might stop to say hi before leaving.”

“Is it selfish of me to ask why she ended things and left?”

“Is it for your ego or for clarity?”

“Clarity. I really want to know.”

“Then go ahead and ask her but if she’s not ready to tell you then you have to respect her wishes. She would eventually come around.”

“I intend taking her out tonight. Not sure if I’m still good with this things. It’s been way too long since I’ve been on a date. She doesn’t want something to elaborate.”

“Where do you plan on taking her to?”

“The park.”

“That’s not a bad idea.”

“What are supposed to do in the park?”

“Picnic, talk, play games and a thousand other things.”

“Sticking with the picnic.”

“Great. When do you want to pick up the things for the picnic?”

“I have no idea. I want to make it a surprise but I don’t know how I’m going to leave the house without her knowing.”

“I can help you get a few things from the store.”

“Thank you very much for the offer but I want to get the things myself.”

“Makes more sense. You can tell her that you and I want to rush out to do something and we’ll be back in no time. You can leave the items at the back of your car.”

“Perfect plan.”

“I met someone.”

“This is good news. I want to hear all about it.”

“I met him in the plane on my way to Greece. His name is Chester Brown, he is kind, handsome, really handsome, he’s a basketballer. He plays for Lakers.”

“Where is he from and where does he live?”

“He’s from Limerick and he lives in Los Angeles, California. He came to see his mum and was traveling to Greece on a holiday.”

“Have you thought about distance?”

“Yes, if he’s the one, I don’t mind moving. I’m rarely in Dublin anyway.”

“When next are you guys seeing?”

“Next week. He made reservations at Luxin hotel since I have no place in L. A and his house is way out of it.”

“Sounds good.”

“Sorry to interrupt. I didn’t know you had a visitor.”

“You should have at least confirmed.”

“Rosa?”

“I’m only pulling her legs. Both of you take life too seriously.” Rosa responds making us all burst into a fit of laughter.

“How was I supposed to know with that serious look on your face.” I say shaking my head.

“Thank you so much for taking care of my friend.”

“It’s nothing. He would have done the same for me.”

“I know how stressful it is to deal with him when he is sick so believe me when I say you deserve some accolades.”

“Thank you. I’ll be in the kitchen.” Cara responds blushing.

“That sounds so perfect. I can already envisage mini Carliams running round this room.”

“Rosa!” I say turning to Cara to find her looking like she wants to be anywhere else but this room.

“Rosa and I will be stepping out for a while. We’ll be back shortly.

“Ok.”

“Bye Cara.” Rosa says as she grabs her purse and keys.”

Once we are out of hearing range, I give her my worst look.

“Did you have to?”

“Both of you were acting like two shy teenage crushes.”

“I’m so done with you.”

“You know that’s a lie.”

I try my best to keep a straight face as we both head out.

“I promise you that’s not going to last for long, that face.”

“Watch me.”
