Chapter 72 - Rejecting A Wolf
Silently, Aurora moved and walked toward the head of the table and sat down. Tom, Henry, and Tom followed her and stood behind her like bodyguards. Meanwhile, the alphas all shivered in fear.
Fear, that was instilled in the minds of these alphas, especially the two sent here to spy on the movements over here.
She was strong, overwhelmingly strong. This woman claimed to be the queen. Where the hell did this queen pop up from? Why now?
Questions swirled in the minds of the men on their knees, barking like dogs. They were in no mood to feel humiliation because fear trumped that feeling by many times over.
"Alright, enough. Shut up and stand." Aurora waved them off with that order. The alphas all exchanged looks and stood.
"I think we have their attention now." Jace chuckled. Aurora shared a smile with Jace before getting serious.
"The purpose of this meeting is quite simple." Aurora began saying. "You and your packs will be dissolved into this pack. Effective immediately."
"You can't do that. The wolves won't agree." An alpha spoke up in a soft tone. He meant to sound confident, but that aura was terrifying.
"Do tell me how are we supposed to fight when everybody is divided into packs? Don't we have a common enemy? Shouldn't we untie to defeat said common enemy?" Aurora eyed that alpha with a cold smile. "Or is it you're afraid that you won't be able to relay our movements to the council?"
"That's impossible! My mate is dead because of them. Why would I ever side with those bastards!" The same alpha gritted his teeth and growled out.
"Good then, trust me when I say when the council comes here, they won't leave standing upright." Aurora swept her gaze over them.
"There's no need for fancy ceremonies," Jace spoke up. "All you need to do is say some words, and it'll be over painlessly. So repeat after me one by one. 'I, alpha whatever your name is of whatever pack you're from, hereby pledge my life, my power, and my pack to Queen Aurora."
Jace swept his gaze over the ugly faces of the alphas and sneered inwards. As if they'd let them run around without collars. Did the council really think they were idiots?
"It's quite simple, right?" Jace tilted his head. "Of course, you have the option of not doing this."
"And if we don't do this?" An alpha asked.
"Well, it's obvious," Jace raised his index finger and spoke in a matter-of-fact manner. "Those who refuse, die."
'We have no choice then.' The alphas grit their teeth and thought.
"Begin," Aurora opened her mouth and ordered. Without much of a choice, the alphas all lined up and submitted their packs and themselves to Aurora.
After it was all done, Aurora made the alpha go back and get situated with their packs, leaving them alone.
Tom sighed as he took a seat, and Henry and Jace followed by also sitting. Aurora turned and looked at Tom.
"Have you decided?" Aurora asked him. slowly, Tom nodded his head.
"What I said still stands, I will become a Lycan, and you will turn me," Tom said. Jace looked at Tom subtly before lowering his eyes.
Henry had nothing to say about the situation, but how can Aurora not know her mate was pouting?
"After I turn you, let go of the past. Because trust me when I say Jace will kill you." Aurora grew the nail on her index finger swiftly and used it to slit her wrist.
Offering her wrist to Tom, he got up and knelt beside her, taking her wrist in his hand, and then he brought his lips down and sucked the blood gushing out.
Aurora healed the wound as so as he took the first pull.
"It's done move aside now," Aurora told him gently. Tom moved aside, and Aurora looked to Jace, who sat there with his face cold.
"Tell me where are the wolves you picked out?" Aurora asked Tom. The effects of drinking her blood have already begun to take effect.
"Go to Nick, he'll bring you to them."Tom gasped.
"Henry, take Tom to the cave. Jace, let's bring those wolves to the cave also so we can begin the transition." Aurora nodded as she gave out orders.
Disgruntled, Jace got up and walked out without saying anything. Aurora couldn't hold back her eye roll when she saw him do that.
Without saying anything to Henry and Tom again, she got up and walked out leisurely. Jace stood at the end of the hallway, tapping his foot impatiently.
"You're a bad actor," Aurora told him when she walked up to him.
"I'm a bad actor," Jace scoffed, "Then I should be happy you use your blood to change your ex-mate?"
"Are you comparing my last two mates as actual mates, or are we going to ignore the countless ex-mates I had over the centuries?"Aurora asked him seriously.
"Tha is different, that man still wants you." Jace sighed.
"He can't have me. Besides, you're about to give a lot of blood to strange wolves, so how is that any different?" Aurora asked, and Jace was speechless because she was right in a sense. and just like that, his anger went away in the blink of an eye.
"It was an overreaction," Jace grumbled to her. Aurora didn't answer, but she did take his hand and began walking with a chuckle.
"Don't anybody besides me your blood again," Jace couldn't help but add.
"What if we have a baby and I want to give the baby some blood?" Aurora replied without thinking with a laugh. But when Jace pulled her to a stop, she realized what she had just said.
"Aurora, "Jace began looking into her eyes as he told her in complete seriousness. "I don't want a baby."
"You don't want to have any more children with me?" Aurora smiled uglily at him as her lips twitched.
Jace didn't say anything he only pulled her to his chest and stroked her hair.
"I think it's best to wait until everything is settled, then we should think about whether or not we want to start a family again." Jace sighed.
It was a touchy subject simply because every one of their children died. It is hard to get over trauma like that. It's not that Jace didn't want kids. It was because he was scared of losing them and scared of seeing her sad and lost because of that.
"Yeah, let's talk about it some other time." Aurora agreed. The two stayed in each other's arms a little while longer before they made their way to Nick.
Nick brought them to the wolves, and they led the wolves to the cave where Jace fed them his blood after carefully explaining to them what was going on.
Tom and Nick already briefed them, so it wasn't hard to understand. After ten days, every wolf turned into a lycan. And standing at the entrance of the cave, Jace and Aurora looked at the lycans standing in rows before them
"We will fight and kill our enemies, even when all our enemies are dead and gone. We'll face the greatest enemy there is. Ourselves. So get ready because when we begin to fight today. The fight won't stop until the day we die." Aurora's eyes swept across the thirty-something lycans standing at attention in front of her.
"Today is the day, the start of a bloody war to free everyone from the tyranny of the council. " Aurora said. "But make no mistake, this is just the beginning."
