Chapter 70 - Rejecting A Wolf

Aurora and Jace stood on top of a big tree as they watched the hustle and bustle below. The council began to attack any and every pack that wasn't aligned with them.

Including those who wanted to stay out of it. Because of this, Aurora and Jace had yet to have a meeting with Tom and the others.

But this could no longer go on. Henry was already up and about. It was time to start making moves. Otherwise, they'd be nowhere to cry when the council attacked.

"He's being reckless." Jace muttered, "Do you think there are spies mixed in between?"

"They're definitely spies mixed in between," Aurora answered without looking at him.

"We can sit on our hands anymore. We need to get ready." Jace told her. "Let's just meet with Tom."

"No, let's meet with all the other alphas here, too," Aurora said.

"Is that a good idea?" Jace asked, "We know there are spies. Whose better to spy than the alphas."

"Then let's confuse the enemy while licking out the people who'll become lycans," Aurora smirked and told him.

"Oh," Jace raised his eyebrows in interest. "And how are we going to do that?"

"We make them angry." Aurora laughed. "How do you think they'll react after knowing a female is leading?"

"Heh," Jace sneered. "And if they attack?"

"I kill them," Aurora looked at him. "Is that a problem?"

"No, not at all." Jace shook his head before saying, "By the way, it's time for me to meet Henry. Are you okay on your own?"

Aurora didn't answer she only waved him off. Jace gave her a peck on her forehead before shifting into a bird and flying off.

Aurora stayed to watch the movement below for a while longer before she decided it was time to look for Tom.

Tom was busy, The reports kept coming in that he almost had no time to think of Aurora. And if by the off chance he did, he'd find something to do to take his mind off it.

It was a frustrating cycle of events. Tom finally had time to sit down and close his eyes. He didn't want to think of anything. He just focused on breathing in and out.

"We are running out of time." Aurora's voice sounded waking Tom up from his trance-like state. Tom's eyes flew open as he looked at the stunning, silver-haired beauty in front of him.

"I gave you time. As of right now, your authority as leader of this resistance is being revoked." Aurora told him.

"Aurora," Tom whispered her name. His face had a complicated expression. It was mixed with pain and sadness, but most of all, regret.

"Tom, I know this is hard right now, but we are on the brink of war. This flow of people definitely has a few spies mixed in. We need to figure out who is becoming a lycan and fast too." Aurora ignored his expression and said.

"Then what will you have us do?" Tom was brought back to his senses by her words and asked.

"We'll call a strategy meeting while you have Henry round up the most trustworthy men and women in the pack. Tonight, they will drink the blood and become lycans." Aurora ordered.

"So the meeting is for tonight also?" Tom asked.

"No, it's in the next two hours," Aurora shook before saying.

"Then I'll get it ready?" Tom asked, and Aurora rolled her eyes. However, Aurora knew she had to say something to him. Otherwise, he'd be this way anytime they met.

She didn't want him to live life like that. So the most she can do for him is to try to spare some pain.

"Tom, I was once your mate that seemed like lifetimes ago to me. I have had many mates, and none of them ended well for me. I was always destined to die an early, horrible death." Aurora sighed.

"But out of every mate I had, you were the best. But that time is over. I finally have the one person I have been chasing for centuries. I know that you can't control the things you feel about me, but I hope you know that one day you'll be free of me and you'll meet the most wonderful person to mate." Aurora finished.

"How are you so sure?" Tom asked with a self-deprecating smile. "You have no idea how it feels to find out the person you were longing to see is right in front of you but you can't touch them or hold them because they belong to another."

"If you become a Lycan, you will find out what I mean. The choice is yours. Stay wrapped up in the past me or walk towards a brighter future."Aurora told him.

Tom didn't answer he only closed his eyes and sighed, Aurora wasn't in a hurry, so she sat down and waited for him to sort through his thoughts.

"If I become a Lycan, what will happen?" To these feelings for you was the rest of the question, but he dare not say them out loud.

"Lycans can find their most compatible mates. It's not like werewolves where you're stuck with whoever is chosen for you. Lycans have the freedom of choice. So if a turned Lycan chooses to be mates with the same person they were with as a werewolf, there are no consequences." Aurora explained patiently. "Eventually, it would make getting over me easier."

"Can I give you an answer after the meeting then?" Tom rubbed his forehead and asked.

"Yes, that's fine by me." Aurora nodded before standing up again.

"One more thing," Tom stopped her from leaving, "If I decided to be turned, will you turn me?"

"If that's what you want, but keep in mind I'm the purest lycan in this world. My blood is potent. It'll be much worse than Jace's blood." Aurora agreed but didn't forget to warn him.

"That's fine," Tom nodded and said. Aurora gave him a nod in return before shifting and leaving. Once again, Tom was alone with his thoughts.
