Chapter 65 - Rejecting A Wolf
Tom stood still among the warriors that were fighting with him. They witnessed Aurora subdue the enemy swiftly. The morale of the enemy went to zero when Aurora released her aura. To be honest, even Tom felt scared of her. Her massive size was already intimidating but her aura made him so terrified.
'Was this woman really on our side?' Tom couldn't help but ask himself. Doubt and questions swirled in his mind. But he knew he couldn't sit back there in self-doubt.
"Gather all the surrendered wolves. If any resist even slightly, kills them." Tom ordered through mind link before rushing towards Aurora and Astrada while his wolves did a round-up. When Tom came to Aurora's side, he shifted into human form and took in the sight in front of him.
Astrada was in a mess, Aurora broke both her legs. No, it shouldn't be broken, it was more like Aurora completely crushed the bone. It was pretty gruesome to look at. Making Tom suck in a breath as he looked at Astrada's pale face. The fact she wasn't screaming bloody murder right now was admirable.
"What are you going to do with her?" Tom asked softly and Aurora glanced at Tom before letting out a breath.
'Killing her is too easy, she has to suffer until her mate comes to fetch her. ' Aurora answered in a nonchalant manner.
"She's not in a very good condition. She might die on us." Tom pointed out. Aurora looked at Astrada and sighed softly in her mind. Yeah, she might have done too much.
'Then I'll send her to her mate barely alive. Want to join me?' Aurora tilted her head towards him and asked. Tom glanced at Astrada, then at Aurora.
"Now?" Tom asked, slightly puzzled by the offer.
'Wouldn't you like to see his face while receiving her?' Aurora asked him. He would be lying if he said that wasn't a tempting offer. Because it was just imagining the look on his face seeing his mate like this, wouldn't that just be a sight for sore eyes? Tom made up his mind then and nodded at Aurora.
Although Astrada couldn't hear what Aurora said through the mind link, she knew her situation was not optimistic. It was so hard to think clearly through the pain but she knew she had to warn Brandon.
'Brandon,' Astrada's voice weakly transmitted through the link between them as mates. Brandon sat in a car as it drove at top speed toward the forest. The pain he felt Astrada went through the bond was something he could never ignore. His mate was in danger and he was rushing towards the location now.
'Hang on baby, I'm coming for you.' Brandon gritted his teeth and said to her, trying to soothe her.
'No, you can't win. You need more wolves. There are two of them, unlike any wolves I've seen. They are massive. And the aura she let out was enough to overwhelm the entire battlefield.' Astrada hurriedly explained.
'Astrada,' Brandon's pained voice transmitted through the mind link and Astrada closed her eyes in an attempt to force herself not to cry.
'So you can also make that type of sound.' Astrada's voice was choked. 'My mate, my other half. I'm sorry I couldn't finish it. I'm sorry I won't be able to be with you anymore.'
'Astrada, I'm coming, you hang on for me. I'm coming for you!" Brandon shouted through the mind link before he ordered the driver in front. "FASTER!"
Astrada wanted to reply but was stopped by the pain in her leg becoming more intense. Opening her eyes, she saw Aurora stepping on her again. It took everything in her not to scream.
'Are you done warning him?' Aurora asked and Astrada was instantly panic-stricken. Astrada knew Brandon was not fully prepared to take on this monster. She had to stop him, he couldn't enter this forest.
'DON'T COME HERE! DO NOT COME!' she screamed at him in the mind link. 'Please don't come.'
Aurora watched Astrada and changed her mind. She didn't want to hand Astrada over to Brandon alive. She was going to let Brandon feel the most intense pain he had ever felt. Revenge started with how creative one could get with it.
'Watch her.' Aurora said to Tom before running off to a place where nobody was to shift and taking off the clothes she had on before shifting back into wolf form and running back toward the two.
'I just had a wonderful idea, are you still cleaning up on your end?' Aurora mind linked to Jace. Jace answered immediately.
'No the aura you release killed their motivation right now, I'm helping the injured to receive treatment. Do you need help with your idea?'Jace asked.
'No, I'll take care of it. Continue to do what you were doing.' Aurora told him before cutting off the link. She shifted into human form and walked closer to Astrada before squatting in front of the other woman. Astrada watched as one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen came in front of her silently.
Aurora was covered in blood, her arms, legs, face, and hair had the most blood, so when Aurora smiled it wasn't a pretty sight one would imagine.
"You are going to die today, but I promise you it won't be before you see your mate one last time." Aurora smilingly told her before turning to Tom and saying, "You should stay here and clean up. I'm good enough to deal with her. "
"Then what about the plan from earlier?"Tom couldn't help but ask her and Aurora laughed.
"I think you are going to hear his grief throughout this forest," Aurora smirked. " It's either he risks it or he goes back to the plan. Let us hope he risks it."
Tom stared at her silently for a few seconds before pursing his lips and nodding. Aurora stood up after that and stretched. Making her way to Astrada's back, she grabbed Astrada by the hair and began dragging her out on the trail the council made when they got there.
"I'll be right back." Aurora laughed, leaving Tom standing there with his fist clenched at his side. Something about this bothered him.
But before he could even think deeper, he got mind linked.
'Henry is in critical condition.' That alone was enough for Tom to drop it and rush back to the pack house. Meanwhile, Jace had no idea Henry was on his death bed.
