Chapter 63 - Rejecting A Wolf

After escorting Aurora and Jace into Tom's office, Nick went to get a set of clothing for them each, which was greatly appreciated by Jace because he didn't like the fact Aurora was naked.

"Who are you people, and what do you want?" Nick sat on the edge of Tom's desk and asked, beating Morel and Tom to it.

"As we said, we have mutual acquaintances. Five years ago, we had to go to a faraway place. We only just came back and we'd like to know the situation with the werewolves." Aurora smiled and told them.

"Sorry, but we don't trust mutual acquaintances who beat around the bush and don't even tell us their names properly." Morel scoffed.

"Oh my bad, my name is Aurora, and my mate's name is Jace. Nice to meet you." Aurora was introduced, and the room was dead silent. Tom, who was standing by the window, snapped.

These strangely dangerous people came here and claimed to be acquaintances, but not only that, but their names are also Aurora and Jace.

Did they take them for fools? There is no way in hell. it's a coincidence. Rage overpowered his caution as he rushed towards Aurora and grabbed her by the t-shirt they gave her to put on and sneered.

"You think this is a fucking joke? How dare you come here and sully their names and take us for fools!" Tom's rage reached its peak as he wanted nothing but to rip out that mouth of hers.

Morel and Nick immediately wanted to pull back Tom, but Jace casually glanced at them, and their bodies went stiff.

Never in their lives have they ever had someone simply glance at them and fear overwhelm them.

"Why can't our names be Aurora and Jace? Do you think that it's an uncommon name? That others can't be named that?" Aurora calmly asked the raging Tom. But to him, this reason was just an excuse.

"Get out back to wherever you came from or just kill us off. Whatever one suits you." Tom sneered.

"Oh my, you're a hot-headed one. But hot-headed shouldn't mean stupid. So shut up and let me go." Aurora ordered him in a light tone. To Morel and Nick, who were covered in cold sweat by Jace's gaze a moment ago, Aurora's tone sounded harmless.

So when Tom let her go and stepped back. With his eyes widened, making an 'mhmph' sound, the two terrified witches' backs were drenched in sweat.

"We came here to help, as a favor to Aurora and Jace, who passed away tragically at the hands of the council. Now I understand your distrust towards us because we are just strangers. However, I will not tolerate your disrespect. " Aurora said lightly, but her words were heavy. "So why don't we restart this first meeting?"

"Good idea, beloved. Should I do the introductions this time?" Jace held Aurora's hand and asked softly.

Aurora glanced at Jace, who took the backseat and allowed her to step forward, taking control of the situation. She could help but smile, and just like that, the tension in the room was cut.

Morel and Nick felt like they could move again, and Tom could feel the restraint placed on his voice was lifted.

One thought circled in the mind of these three after that. 'These people are incredibly dangerous.'

"Hello, as my mate introduced, our names are Jace and Aurora. An unfortunate coincidence, it would seem, but these are our names. We would like it if you don't overreact because we didn't come here to aggrieve you or your companions." Jace began speaking.

"Our goal here is quite simple, we came here to uproot the disgusting practice that is called the council." Aurora continued. "But to do this, we need to know what we have missed over the past five years."

"Even though we are strong, we are only two. It's impossible to overcome everything with strength alone. We aren't asking that you trust us. We are asking for us to cooperate." Jace finished off, and the room was once more silent.

"You want to know what has happened?" Tom asked slowly.

"That's right, from the time of Aurora and Jace's death to now." Aurora nodded while she said this.

"You people, what are you?" Tom couldn't help but ask. "My wolf has never reacted this way even up against a stronger alpha wolf."

"Well, we are just stronger alpha wolves than that, or did you forget we met before Tom?" Aurora smilingly replied, but Tom's body tightened up completely.

"We never told you our names," Tom breathed out the words in a hushed tone, but everybody heard him.

"Well, you're right about that. Guess I made a rookie mistake." Aurora laughed as she leaned back in her chair. "Guess this means you distrust us even more, huh?"

"Aurora," Jace called out her name softly, making Aurora snap out of her playfulness. Realization hit her as she let out a sigh in frustration.

Her trying to ease her tension has caused an irreversible mistake. Jace patted her hand, and she silently relaxed her body and closed her eyes.

"Mistakes like these usually come from a good place. Aurora and I mean you no harm. Aurora was just simply excited to finally be here with you guys and to find out the situation. " Jace explained to them softly.

"So we are supposed to trust you? How can we trust you?" Morel couldn't help but say.

"Well, that's the truth, who can honestly trust strangers." Jace nodded, agreeing to her words. " I'm not asking for your full trust, just a semblance of trust is enough so we can come up with a plan to rid this world of the werewolf council."

Everybody except Aurora looked at Jace with guarded eyes. It couldn't be helped. Who would trust a stranger if they came to them and said we are here to help?

No one in their right mind would do something stupid like that. But Jace understood what he needed to do now was give them time to think.

So as he stood up, he scooped Aurora into his arms and kissed her forehead gently. Aurora, who was just relaxing, shifted her position to make herself feel more comfortable but did not say anything again.

"Look, just think about the pros and cons of the situation. We'll be back tomorrow for your answer. If you don't want us to be allies, we completely respect that." Jace told them before opening the door and walking out.

But to his utter surprise, he bumped into Henry.

"Oh, sorry, " Henry apologized, and Jace was stunned. That little teenager in his memories was gone, and now he was a man.

"It's okay," Jace controlled his urger to ruffle Henry's hair and continued walking as if nothing had happened.

"Woah, that man gave me a strange vibe," Henry mumbled to himself, but Morel, Tom, and Nick heard him and glanced at each other.

"What vibe?" Tom asked Henry, to which Henry took a second to think about his answer before saying.

"He felt like my brother, his eyes especially." Henry's words made the three go into deep thought but that simply was impossible.

Not only were Aurora and Jace buried, but they also looked nothing like those people who were here just now.

What a troubling headache.
