Ella's POV.

"Stop!" I shouted as I jumped off the seat I was perched on, flinging the syringe off her hand and away from Melody's skin.

Gabby gasped at my action, looking at me like I was crazy but before she could talk, the nurse beat her to it.

"What are you doing?" She asked me.

I scoffed. "Shouldn't I be asking you that?"

She sneered at me. "Trying to treat a patient. What else would I be doing in a hospital ward as a nurse who is on duty?"

"That only matters if you are a nurse."

She flicked her gaze to Gabby. "Who is she? Does she need to be here?"

I chuckled at her obvious attempt to get me thrown out of the room so she could have her way with her mission.

Gabby looked torn and she was probably wondering what my problem was as I was acting unusual. "What is going on?" She asked, staring at me.

"She is not a real nurse." I said, pointing at her. "I can bet on my life that she is here to harm your daughter. She is probably one of those or the one who did this to your daughter."

Gabby gasped out loud, her eyes widening in shock. "This is..." She couldn't finish her complete and I knew how that felt. She was definitely overwhelmed with what was going on and didn't know how to express herself.

"You little piece of shit." The nurse hissed at me.

I moved closer to her, glaring at her. "I know you know what I am." I said, threatening her. If she was what I suspected she was, I knew she would have known what I was. "Should I show everyone what you are or will you quietly leave before I force you?"

Gabby looked at the two of us as if she was on a live set of a Hollywood suspense show and couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Shit!" The nurse cursed and ran out of the room.

I turned to Gabby, excused myself from her and ran after the witch. She could run but I was a werewolf, the Luna of the pack and there was no how she could outrun me. I couldn't believe they had almost played a fast one on me. I had been expecting a man since Liam and I had seen one lurking around Melody and couldn't believe they would have thought of sending a woman to attack her..

I was grateful for my sense of smell and sight in fishing out the witch before harm was done and glad I had been around. I couldn't imagine what would have happened if the witch had come disguised as a nurse at the time I had gone to check up on the boys. That would have been a disaster I couldn't even bear to think of right now and I groaned silently as a shudder went through me.

Within minutes, I had caught up to the witch and it wasn't long before I pulled her off the ground, stopped her in her tracks and pinned her under me. She tried to break free from me but I was stronger than she was and finally, she surrendered, going limp under me.

I watched without fascination as her skin began to morph and she changed into her original form. I knew it. I had confirmed that she was a witch the moment I had seen the insides of her wrist and knew she was camouflaging her appearance with magic.

Unlike how smooth and young her skin looked on the outside, her wrist on the insides had looked gnarled and that had tipped me off. Judging from how she couldn't completely mask her appearance and how easily she lost the fight with me and was worn out, I knew she was a weak witch.

I smiled at her, happy at how this turned out. If she was weak, that meant that I could get information from her and solve this nonsense attack on Melody before it could go too far.

"Who sent you?" I asked, knowing she couldn't be the mastermind behind the attack on the poor girl. She was too weak for that.

She kept quiet. I pressed hard on her neck, hoping I would get information from her if I tortured her. She might be a witch but I doubted that she had a spell that came with tolerance of pain. By the time I was done with her, she would be spilling all her guts into my hands.

I heard a sudden crunch in her mouth and looked at her in horror, jumping away as she started to bleed from the mouth.

"What have you done?" I muttered under my breath, still horrified.

She smirked at me, her lips looking funny with the blood in her mouth as her eyes filled with a wicked glint. "You think I am going to stay here and have you torture me for information?" She hissed at me. "You are never going to save her."

She laughed and suddenly started shaking like she was being electrocuted. She stopped moving, went still and her eyes went glassy and lifeless.

I cursed as I stared at her lifeless body in horror, unable to believe that she had poisoned herself. I should have suspected that they would have a plan to act on if they were caught. I had totally underestimated my enemies and I felt like crap for that.

I yelled as I went down on my knees in tears, realizing that we were back to zero point. A dark witch was always going to be one.

Crazy fanatics, I hissed as I got back on my feet and moved to join Gabby in the room. I had no doubt that I had a lot of explaining to do.

I went back to the room and was delighted to find Melody awake. She was trying to sit on the bed with the help of her mother when I joined them.

"Oh! Melody!" I rushed to her side as I saw her.

Gabby turned to me and smiled. "I'm glad that she is awake as well. I can't imagine my life without her."

I placed a hand on her shoulder. "You won't lose her. We will all protect your girl." I vowed to her.

"Thank you." She smiled at me, grateful for the encouragement.

Her facial expression suddenly got serious and I knew what was coming even before she spoke. "What happened? What was all that about?" She asked.

"I will tell you later." I told her, glancing at Melody.

She glanced at her daughter and nodded, understanding the message. I knew I was stalling but there was no way I was going to tell her about what was going on without sounding crazy or freaking her out. It was normal for her to be curious and I knew I couldn't keep stalling so I had to come up with something as fast as I could.

"Okay." She said. "I'm glad Melody is awake. That is all that matters to me." She pulled Melody into a hug and the girl looked like her mother was trying to suffocate her with embraces which I suspected was what had been going on before I walked into the room.

If the little girl knew how worried we had been when she was unconscious, she would have taken as many hugs as her mother could give.

I nodded, grateful Gabby wasn't going to push the matter. "When did she wake up?"

"Ten minutes ago."

I nodded, wondering how many hugs Gabby had given Melody within that space of time. I would bet a hundred, knowing how Gabby was.

I moved closer to Melody. "What happened to you in the garage, dear?" I asked, hoping to get information from her.

Maybe she would remember how the attacker had looked like and I could go on from there.

Melody frowned as she looked at me and then at her mother. "In the garage? I was there?"

I went still and could only blink at her. She didn't remember anything? The blasted witch had done a complete job on her and I felt like rushing outside to hit her corpse till it became a mess of blood and bones.

It was no wonder she had seemed uncomfortable with her mother's overwhelming embraces. She couldn't understand why Gabby was reacting that way.

"Don't you remember screaming, dear?" Gabby asked her, leaning closer as she peered at her daughter. "You came out of the garage looking weak and with bruises. You fainted afterwards and that is how you landed in a hospital. Don't you remember any of that?"

Melody's frown went deeper. "I don't understand what you are saying, mum. I was with the boys and then I said I wanted to show them something and then I'm here." She looked around and then at the door, sadness filling her eyes. "Where are the boys? Are they also injured?"

"No." I said, hating that her memory was erased. "They will be here to see you soon." I sent a text to Kevin to bring the boys in.

I whispered to Gabby while Melody wasn't looking to let go and not press her further on what happened at the garage or we were going to make her confused and give her heartaches.

She nodded. The boys came in and rushed towards Melody when they saw her. I watched as they all engulfed one another in an embrace and started chatting eagerly, fussing over Melody like mother hens. She didn't seem to mind that the boys were fussing over her and laughed as she talked with her. Staring at her, I found it hard to believe that she had lain there unconscious and made us worry a few minutes ago.

The doctor came to check up on her and she was discharged after some minutes. We escorted Gabby and Melody home and went back to our own house. After putting the boys to bed, I sat with the men at our usual meeting point and told them of everything that happened today.

They were as mad as I had been which was how I had expected them to and we all agreed that we needed more than a plan to defeat the witches.
