Chapter 52 Snatching Away His Woman
Chapter 52 Snatching Away His Woman
Seeing that her parents were indeed moved by her tears, the bit of grievance in Vivian's heart was quickly replaced by smugness.
She snuggled intimately into Susan's arms, but out of the corner of her eye, she glanced sideways at Flora, her eyebrows slightly raised, her eyes rippling with obvious provocation, silently declaring her victory.
That bitch—as long as she was alive, she would never let her return to the Smith family!
Flora stood quietly to the side, watching this harmonious scene before her, her expression so calm it showed not a ripple of emotion.
After waiting a moment and seeing they had no intention of discussing business, she simply took out her phone and lowered her head to reply to Ava's messages.
Suddenly, faint sounds came from outside the door.
Flora seemed to sense something and looked up toward the entrance.
The next second, the door was pushed open from outside.
A middle-aged woman dressed in flashy jewelry strode in quickly, full of presence. Her gaze swept across the room, first pausing on Flora for a moment, then landing on Vivian's face without showing any emotion, as she walked forward with a smile.
Learning Michael and Susan's identities, she became even more enthusiastic, quickly handing out her business card and introducing herself generously: "Hello, you two. I'm Miranda Rodriguez from the Apex Group. I became acquainted with your daughter some time ago, and hearing she encountered some difficulties today, I came specially to check on her and see if there's anything I can help with."
"I've long heard that the Smith family is highly capable and handles matters reliably. If there's an opportunity in the future, I hope you'll look after me."
The Apex Group?
Wasn't this the jewelry nouveau riche that only moved into Emerald City a couple of years ago?
Michael responded with a smile, exchanging business cards with her while discreetly sizing up the visitor.
Susan smiled on the surface, but her heart was full of disdain.
In her view, this so-called "jewelry nouveau riche" was nothing more than an upstart with some money, covered in dazzling jewelry but without a trace of old money class, completely unable to make it to the proper stage.
Though Susan was disdainful in her mind, when her gaze swept over the other woman's ruby-studded earrings, the jeweled necklace around her neck, and the jeweled bracelet on her wrist, she couldn't help but feel envious.
This outfit alone was worth at least an apartment in the city center!
"I wonder what difficulty Ms. Smith has encountered. Whatever I can help with, just say the word."
As if worried the Smith family wouldn't believe her, she deliberately lowered her voice and added: "I have a nephew who works in the government. He might be able to help dig up some information."
Catching sight of this outfit, Vivian recognized her immediately—this was the most generous spender among the nouveau riche she'd befriended.
She raised her hand to wipe away her tears, sniffled, deliberately avoided the other's greetings and questions, and asked directly: "How soon can you get me out on bail?"
Miranda's smile faded as she asked seriously: "Ms. Smith, you need to tell me what happened first."
Though she wanted to use Vivian and the Smith family to connect with Flora, she knew the importance of self-awareness. If it was something within her ability, she would do her best to help, but if it exceeded her scope, she could only look for another opportunity.
Seeing them all staying silent, Flora, who'd been watching the show, suddenly felt mischievous and answered first: "It's not really a big deal." Flora raised her eyes slightly, her tone casual. "She just snuck into the hospital, pretended to be a nurse, and added something to my IV drip."
"As for what exactly that something was, the police are still investigating. Probably not anything good for consumption."
She smiled slightly, speaking as if it were nothing, as though she wasn't the one who'd nearly been poisoned.
Miranda's expression changed dramatically, surprise flashing across her face. "You are...?"
"Flora."
"Flora?" Miranda paused, feeling the name was particularly familiar, and asked hesitantly: "Could you be that Flora?"
Her probing gaze moved back and forth over Flora, and the more she looked, the more familiar she seemed.
She looked exactly like the girl in that video who publicly copied classical paintings at the mall!
Flora nodded. "That's me."
"So you're Ms. White."
Miranda's eyes lit up, the enthusiasm on her face almost impossible to contain. She hurried forward to shake Flora's hand. "I've heard so much about you. I finally get to meet you."
"That day when I saw you publicly copying classical paintings at the mall, I wanted to get to know you, but I couldn't find your contact information. With no other choice, I tried to have the Smith family make an introduction, but who knew it would cause so many misunderstandings."
She gripped Flora's hand excitedly, reluctant to let go. At the same time, she didn't forget to quickly distance herself from the Smith family, afraid Flora might think she was allied with them and offend her, missing this chance to befriend her and cooperate.
"I see." Flora smiled, her gaze falling on Michael, Susan, and Vivian behind Miranda, their expressions all different. She asked knowingly: "From what you said earlier, I thought you came for the Smith family. I didn't expect it was for me—I'm truly flattered."
Miranda waved her hands repeatedly, hastily clearing up the relationship, assuring her again and again that she came for Flora.
Seeing her helper turn traitor on the spot and spare no effort to distance herself, the embarrassed Vivian's face darkened.
She dug her nails into her palms, struggling to maintain her composure, not daring to show any loss of control.
That bitch was deliberately trying to embarrass her!
But she wouldn't give her the satisfaction!
"Today's meeting was too rushed—I didn't even have time to prepare a gift. Take this bracelet, consider it a token of my regard!"
As she spoke, Miranda immediately removed the jeweled bracelet from her wrist, about to put it on Flora.
"No, no, no, this is too valuable. I can't accept it!"
Flora's heart jumped, and she quickly pulled back her hand, refusing to accept it no matter what.
Accepting such an expensive gift at their first meeting, especially when the other person clearly had business intentions, was inappropriate.
If she accepted it, it would be like acknowledging this favor.
She couldn't accept it.
"Don't be so reserved. I have several more of these bracelets in my jewelry box. It's not that valuable—just take it."
She smiled warmly, trying several times to press the bracelet into Flora's hands. "I really like you, and meeting you today, I feel even more connected." Miranda smiled brightly. "My son also likes classical paintings. If you don't mind, let me treat everyone to dinner sometime soon and we can all get to know each other?"
"No way!" Gavin instantly picked up on the deeper meaning in those words. His expression tightened, and he anxiously refused.
She was trying to steal his woman right in front of him!
