Chapter 43
Most She-Wolf’s chose to reside in their mates pack. But there were some occasions where I had lost a member, as they asked permission to relocate to the She-Wolfs pack.
So far I had lost two strong warriors. Although. My pack had gained seven new members. This was how it should always have been. We should all be acting like we were one big pack. But the high council could never agree on the leadership of a single pack. It was decided, generations ago, that there would have to be four packs. So that’s what happened. We have been four separate packs for centuries. There was only one elder left who knew of the packs as one.
But that was the time when the lady Onyx ruled with her mate, Nevar.
The two great wolves ruled over all werewolves. Having been sent to this new realm millennium ago. After the initial betrayal that led to Nevar getting killed and Onyx being hunted, it was told that Onyx would be reincarnated every few centuries. To try and unite the four packs.
But she had never succeeded.
Í didn’t know why. None of us did. We only knew what we had been taught in history class. The high council have documented proof that Onyx comes back periodically.
But they have no proof as to why she simply chooses to leave again.
‘Wow.’ I thought to myself. Those thoughts went pretty deep. I don’t know where all that came from. I wasn’t a great student, not until I reached my teens. So I missed out on a lot of history class. And geography class. And math.
In fact, for the first few years of my school life, I just didn’t go.
Who was there, to tell me to? Both my parents were warriors in this pack. And both had lost their lives defending us from harm. I sort of fell through the cracks, until Alpha Michael had seen me. And taken me under his wing.
Although I was still terrible at school, my training was excellent. And I rose through the ranks until I became the head warrior. I was driven in my need to make my parents proud. The school thing finally fell into place as I got older. But history was still not my thing.
Well, I must have picked some of it up to remember what I just had about our collective past.
Nodding to the two warriors standing either side of the door, I slipped inside as quietly as I could. I didn’t want to be intrusive. I only wanted to support my girl.
I wasn’t paying much attention to my surroundings, I sat in my usual chair. Right next to the bed. And I turned my phone to silent.
When I lifted my head, so I could see the woman who had captured my heart and soul. I froze. As crystal green eyes watched me, amusement showing on her beautiful face.
“Hello there, Alpha Reece.” Julia said politely.
“Hi.” I responded, weakly. I just stared at her. A million questions running through my mind. I didn’t want to spook her. Or come on too strong. My heart felt like it would burst out of my chest.
I heard the quiet words, and could no more stop myself from obeying, than breathe.
“Come here.”
Julia fisted her small hand on my shirt, and none too gently, pulled my willing mouth down to hers.
When our lips met, an explosion went off within me. I closed my eyes and let all the sensations wash over me. The energy that was racing through my veins was almost too much to bear.
Almost.
I deepened the kiss, and had the satisfaction of hearing Julia moan deep in her throat.
As I pulled away from her, so I could look at her. I felt something snap into place, inside me. Like the twang of an elastic band, but it didn’t hurt. In fact, I realized I had been hurting. For a very long time.
I couldn’t form the words I needed to speak. To say that word I had hoped to say, but never could. In the end, I didn’t have to.
“Hello, my darling Mate. How I have missed you.” Julia only paused long enough to say this, then our lips crashed back together. And in that moment, clarity settled within me. I could hear my great wolf, sigh, contentedly.
I pulled back from our kiss. I just wanted to look at her.
“My love. My Mate.” Was all I was able to utter. Before we lost ourselves in a kiss that fractured everything I thought I knew.
Then, it was all put back together. And I knew that I had found her. I had finally found her.
Onyx.
“My love.” I whispered next to her mouth. “We should not do this here. I have no doubt we will be disturbed. I can’t let that happen. For when I am back between your glorious thighs, I want nothing to interfere.”
I watched the emerald eyes, cloud with the same desire that also flowed through mine own veins.
Julia smiled serenely, then said, “I guess we should talk, huh?”
I chuckled.
“Yes. I think it would be a very good idea to have a talk. But not here. I will get you discharged. Then take you home. We can talk there.”
I stole a quick kiss before I left the room, in search of Jeremy.
Julia POV
I knew I was awake. I was aware of my surroundings, the people around me. I knew that they were trying to wake me from the slumber that had me in it’s grasp.
But. I also knew why I wouldn’t wake. Not just yet, anyway.
The one thing I had wished for, my whole life, had come true. I had a wolf. And her name was onyx.
I knew this, because she had just introduced herself. I was beyond happy. Beyond excited. But first, I wanted to know why it was only now, at the age I am, that I could feel her. Why is it that I can now interact with her. How I longed to see what she looked like.
A bit of fear stole in, then.
To see her, I would have to shift. And that meant pain. Every wolf has to go through it. It was a right of passage, in a way.
To my surprise though, I didn’t have to wait. For while I slept, I was taken to the most special place I had ever been to.
It was a realm where I could communicate with my soul-sharer, face to face.
Where we could stand infront of each other. As the equals we are.
Onyx was quite literally, my other half.
And, as I looked upon my wolf’s beautiful face. As I took in the sheer size of her. And felt my hand sink into her golden fur, I knew, that I was finally who I was always meant to be.
My destiny had come knocking.
I simply needed to grasp on to it, with every fibre of my being.
