Chapter 21
Jackson POV
Eva was going to be so pissed off when she found out that I was to go to our closest neighbour. And bring her sister back. I didn’t know how I was going to tell her. We still hadn’t manage to consummate our relationship. I knew I couldn’t mark her until the ceremony. But I could fuck her, and I really wanted to. It was like a desire that I had no control over.
When I was apart from her, it was not too bad, but I could still feel a pull towards her. I knew it wasn’t the fated mate bond. Having experienced that with Julia, for the short hours we had been mates. The pull toward Julia was nothing like the pull toward Eva. I couldn’t explain it.
Sid couldn’t detect a wolf in Julia, that was a well kept secret; obviously. As no one in our pack knew. How the fuck was I supposed to present her to my pack, as my fated mate, and Luna-to-be. When she didn’t have the one thing that sets us apart from all other creatures.
No, I knew I had made the right choice in choosing Eva. She was a delight to be around. When I found out that her ceremony dress had been ruined, I offered to take her dress shopping the next day. Eva even suggested that we make a day of it and bring our Mum’s so they could meet.
We went shopping,, Eva found the dress of her dreams. Yes, it was a little pricey, but what the hell. It was only money, and my father had millions of the green stuff.
Thinking back on the trip, now I know whats what, I recognise the tension within our party of four, was not nerves at meeting the Luna of your pack. But anxiety, because the one person that knew what you had done. Was sitting across the table, sipping tea with you.
I allowed my mind to wander towards Eva for a few more minutes. Then I snapped myself out of it, and called my Beta-to-be, to me. Within a few minutes, Daniel, my childhood friend and confidant, arrived.
‘I need to get out of this trip, Dan. I can’t go looking for Julia Mason. And bring her back to this pack, and mark her. I only want to do that with Eva. So, you need to come up with a plan to get me out of this. It will take a few days to get to The Blood Oath Pack. I think it best I set off with everyone. But then double back at the first rest stop. What do you think? Do you think you could help me pull it off?’
I looked at Daniel, with a pathetic expression on my face. I could see he was trying hard not to laugh. But I won in the end, when a huge smile broke out on his face and he said, ‘I think I can come up with something. Do you know where you will be stopping? Have they at least told you the plan?’
The, pfftt, that came out of my mouth said it all. And Dan started to laugh.
‘Okay my friend. If you can find out where the first stop is likely to be, I will meet you there and we can take off. I will have a Change of clothes for you. And some of that potion, that masks your scent. So they shouldn’t be able to track you.’
I clapped Dan on his back, and thanked him. Promising I would get the information he needed, as soon as possible.
Dan left. I really hoped he knew just how important this was to me. If I had to, I would cancel the ceremony, and just mate and mark Eva. That would be Job done, as far as I was concerned. I knew Eva would be disappointed, at not having the bells and whistles, that went hand in hand with a marking ceremony. But I was sure her love for me would win out, and knowing she had my love, I would like to think, would be enough for her, also.
I returned to my task with a renewed vigour. Knowing it would all be for nothing. I was not going to be ruled by my parents. I will make them see I am a strong and powerful Alpha, in my own right.
Daniel POV
What the fuck was it about the Eva girl, that had my best friend so obsessed with her. As far as I could see, Eva was nothing special. She wasn’t the glamour puss, Jackson would talk about, for endless hours through the night. When I first met her, I thought he was pulling a prank on me.
Now, her sister on the other hand, phewee, she was stunning. Golden hair, that fell to the middle of her back. Where Eva was slim, I would even go as far as to say, boney. Julia Mason had curves that could make a grown man cry.
I’m not saying that Julia was fat, or anything like that. But she did have a good bit of meat on her. And in all the right places. Julia was toned, and in great shape. You could always see her running the track that circled the indoor training ground. I had learnt from a young age, that Julia mason would run there very early, every other morning.
So I would get up even earlier, and sneak into the training hall, just to see if I could see her perfect body, minus the clothes. I got my wish, a few weeks after I started sneaking in. Julia was running late for something, that much was evident.
As I hid, I watched as Julia walked into the empty hall, gave it a quick scan around, to see if anyone was there. When she was satisfied she was alone. She pulled off her scruffy white t-shirt that she wore, and let her large unencumbered breasts, fall out. I swear, I almost came in my underwear. Seeing her body like that.
I knew that she was an omega, so someone I would never be seen with. But I could dream. And I did. Many, many times.
My pervert mind, automatically snapped back to Eva. Plain, flat chested, Eva. Who had the personality of a cumquat. And everyone knew her mother was a drunk. My father had come home from work, one evening. He worked as a border patrol warrior.
He told my family that he had been asked by the landlord of our local bar, to kick Maria Mason out and take her home. My father said that the whole time he was taking her home, Maria was mumbling about being a Luna, and losing everything because of Julia.
It was nonsense, of course. But it had always stuck in my mind, for some reason.
Why Jackson would want to risk the wrath of his father, for someone like Eva Mason, was beyond me.
Nonetheless, Jackson was not only my best mate, he was also the next Alpha. And he needed my help. So, I walked around the grounds of the packhouse, thinking up a plan that would allow Jackson to slip away, and be reunited with Eva.
Eva POV
‘Are you fucking kidding me!!’ I screamed down the phone. Jackson had just told me where my useless sister had gone. And that he had orders to go and bring her back to this pack.
No. No way. Absolutely fucking not.
‘Listen to me Eva, it will all be okay. Dan will come and fetch you tomorrow. He will bring you to a place where I will be staying. Once you are with me, I will mark you. No one can stop us then.’
What the actual fuck, was he talking about. I had a beautiful new ceremony dress. And now I’m being told that I will not get to wear it. I will not have the ceremony, in front of the whole pack. Who were supposed to look at me becoming the next Luna.
And now all I get is a hotel room, tucked away in the small town that sits exactly half way between our pack and that horrid, Blood Oath Pack.
‘Well then; I suppose I should just wait and see what Daniel has to say. I’ll see you tomorrow!'
