KATHY

“Oh, that’s impressive, care to tell me about them?” he said as he glanced at me.

I smiled as I wondered why he was so interested in how I was getting along with the pack and everyone in general.

“Erm, there’s nothing to say about them, I can only tell you about her,” I said.

“Whoa, I couldn’t process that,” he said after being silent for a few seconds.

“I meant to say I only made just one friend yet, emphasis on yet”

“Hence the reason why I have nothing to say about them is I haven’t met them yet, I can only tell you things about her if you still care to listen,” I said as I folded my arms.

“You got me there!” he said as he clapped.

“I can tell you have plans to make a few more friends, never knew you were the friendly type” he added.

“Friendly? Hmmm, I wouldn’t refer to myself as friendly but I sure would love to have a few more people in my circle” I replied.

“And I wouldn’t mind being in your circle,” he said and bubbled his mouth afterward.

It sounded to me as though he was only teasing me, I wasn’t so sure he meant what he had just said due to his facial reaction and I didn’t know how to confirm if he was being real or he was only playing around, I knew having him in my corner would help me with Joanna’s case.

As we continued with our walk, we were both silent, the only thing we could hear were the sounds of the birds chipping, I thought of several ways I could make him, I and Joanna all have a moment together maybe at least Joanna could warm up to him and open up on how things had been between her and Henry.

I was brought back to reality when I tripped on the loose stones, I staggered and how I didn’t end up on the ground remains a mystery, It all happened in the twinkle of an eye and I hurriedly positioned back on my feet like nothing just happened.

“I’m sorry that had to happen!” he said facing me.

“It’s fine, I wasn’t looking at the floor” I lied not wanting him suspicious of me being blank again as he did earlier.

“You should be more careful” he replied tapping my shoulder.

Things got a little awkward, I guess we both had run out of words, I started to feel nervous and I knew if I wanted to stop feeling that way I had better strike up a conversation.

“So do you still care to hear about my friend?” I asked.

“Oh, I wanted to ask once more but it skipped my mind,” he said.

“I noticed” I replied as I turned pink.

“I can tell you’re really into her seeing how eager you are to talk about her,” he said.

“Yes, I am she has a lovable personality I must confess,” I said smiling.

“I’d love to hear about the friend that captured your heart already,” he said.

“Capture my heart? We aren’t lovers!” I said as I burst into laughter.

“I was only teasing, I’m all ears anyways,” he said.

“I’m clueless about where to start, I have a lot to say about her,” I said as I sighed with relief.

“Wow, I perceive she has such an interesting personality making you both get along in a short while” he replied.

“I think she does” I replied.

“You think? I assumed you know her too well already” he said.

“I do, it’s just I haven’t seen that interesting side of her yet” I replied slowly as I tried not to break into tears.

“That’s quite complicated, do you have any idea why she hasn’t unveiled that side of her yet?” he inquired.

“Yes, I do” I replied.

“If you don’t mind you could share, who knows we might be able to help her in a way,” he said and at that very second I felt like pouring it all out, I kept reminding myself Joanna doesn’t deserve to go through such emotional trauma and that henry wouldn’t stop anytime soon.

“You sure could help,” I said after a brief moment of silence.

“I’d be more than glad to help, could you tell me how I may?” he replied.

Left to me, I was ready to spill it all out but Alexa kept on reminding me I needed enough evidence.

I chose to agree with Alexa as I wondered what gave me the assurance he would choose my word over Henry’s.

It’s his second in command I’m talking about here, after all, I couldn’t stop contemplating whether or not to let it all out, and suddenly I felt something cold on my shoulders.

Frightened, I looked up to see what it was, it was Damon, he had his palm on my shoulder.

I gave him a half-hearted smile, “you aren’t saying anything” he said looking into my eyeball.

I looked at his in return but couldn’t keep up for long, “I got lost in thought thinking of the perfect words to use in my explanation” I replied as I moved my eyes away from his.

“Oh, take all the time you need” he replied as took his hands off my shoulders.

I moved my lips to speak a second after his last statement having finalized it would be better to go with Alexa’s decision.

“There’s this huge burden cast upon her,” I said pitifully.

A huge burden? That’s a lot, By who?” he inquired.

“Someone superior” I replied looking him in the eye.

“If I’m not mistaken, you’re insinuating someone in this pack is a victim of bullying? he said as his voice trembled.

“Something like that, The person is using his authority over her but in the wrong way and it’s driving her nuts” I explained.

“Using authority? Wait is this about me?” he asked.
