Twenty Eight

KATHY

I had fallen over on my face, being carried away with wanting to get in the front line.

I winced in pain, holding on to my arm which I had sprained in the process of falling.

I had my eyes on the track and surprisingly found Liam and his other team members already leading.

Shit!!… I muttered to myself.

I knew at a point, I had to stop but still I had to continue on the track.

And just as I laid flat on the floor trying to pull myself up, I felt a hand on my shoulders.

“Are you okay?” I heard a feminine voice say as she had her hand on my shoulder.

“I'm good, thanks” I replied. It was Joanna who tried to help me up. I felt good seeing someone helping me up.

But then again as she did, I sort of caught a glimpse of a fresh scar on her neck.

I had my eyes fixed on the fresh wound wondering how it had gotten there.

The minute she noticed I had seen it, she had her scarf pulled down covering the fresh scar.

“Who did that?” I was surprised at how scared she looked when she noticed me seeing it.

She stayed silent for a couple of seconds holding on to the scarf not wanting to say anything.

“Joanna!!” Damon called out to her on the track, causing every individual racing to come to a halt.

“Disqualified!!” he said pointing to her.

I got up fully on my feet wondering why Damon suddenly wanted her disqualified.

As a result of that, she would be assigned to cleaning the mansion and also washing all the clothes one whole week.

“That’s so unfair!!” I yelled.

I felt very sad and bad, hearing what Damon said.

“ she doesn't deserve to be disqualified, she was trying to help with a good intention. Damon please don't disqualify her” I began pleading on her behalf.

But it seems my apology fell on deaf ears with Damon’s attention back on to the race track.

“Damon!!” I called out waving my hands to him calling for his attention.

“She already knows the rules of the game,” Damon said.

As I stood on my feet waving to Damon, I felt her hands on my shoulders for the second time that day.

“Kathy please do your best to complete and finish the race. I believe in you and I know you can do this” Joanna said smiling to me”.

“ don't you lose focus”

She got up and was heading straight back into the mansion..

I felt bad knowing that I was actually the cause of her disqualification.

Before I could get back into the race, Damon said “ I guess you forgot the part where I said you have to run together with your partner and you both and to win together”.

“ I mean you should were supposed to stay on the track with your partner alongside.

“Anyways, your partner is still in the race so you still got a chance in the race” he said

“But make sure you try to catch up with her”. He added.

I was surprised but yet confused on why he suddenly wanted me back on the race, knowing I had a sprained ankle.

I had wanted to ask, but then again any of that just wasn’t necessary.

I got back into the race but the others have already gone past half of the race.

Liam was already in the top and leading the race.

I got back in the race, running as hard as I could. But it was still so different because of what was chained to my legs and for the fact that it kept on drawing me back.

I ran past the last 4 other werewolves in the race and surprisingly they were shocked to have seen me past with so much speed.

I was already 4th in position and was almost towards the end of the race. I could see Liam at the finish line with 2 other werewolves. My partner and I finished in 4th place.

The top 7 from the race were summoned by Damon

“ congratulations for passing the first stage. Damon said.

“First stage?” I was confused about what he meant.

“And now the seven of you would begin the second stage but you would be doing that in singles,” he said smiling to us.

“On this particular round, there would be obstacles, which means you have to be on the watch out for them

“Any questions?” Damon asked.

“When you say obstacles, what kind are they?” I asked curiously, staring at the track.

Damon stared at me with a look showing I wasn’t supposed to ask that.

“Get on the race and you would find out” he said walking away.

That answer was not exactly what I had expected, but still I had to focus on the game in front of me.

Or I’d rather say race.

“Ready?!!” Damon yelled holding up the shotgun like earlier before.

I clenched my fist, ready for the worse as I had my eyes fixated on the track.

“Go!!” Damon yelled as he had the gun shot into the air.

The next thing I knew was everyone of these men I was to race with, had surprisingly taken off on their heels.

I soon took off on the same track, overtaking most of the men that had gone before me.

I could feel Alexa heating up from within me, making my whole body sort of fast on the track.

I had my eyes on Liam, who surprisingly was a few steps away from me.

I pulled myself away from the others who were behind as I ran forward ignoring the wound I was getting from the chains on my ankle.

I clenched my fist harder, the minute the pain down on my feet felt so unbearable making me a little slow on my pace.

I took more steps further, finally catching up with Liam who at a piece felt he was going to win.

I wish!!…
