Twenty Four

It was almost 10pm and I had actually slept off on the couch in my chambers.

I was awakened by the sound of my door being opened and shut silently, but surprisingly I could still hear it. 

I opened up my eyes fully and saw him standing by my door.

Damon!!

Looking at the wall clock, I was shocked I had slept for over 3 hours on the couch.

“I knew you would be asleep by now and that was why I didn't think of it to knock,” he said smiling at me.

"The training will be starting in the next 15 minutes, so I was just looking for you to get you updated about it. You wouldn't want to be late to the field, trust me" he said giggling alongside.

As I laid still listening to what he had to say, I slowly wondered what it was about this particular full moon track training.

And most especially why he kept on smiling all through the times he spoke to me. 

"I will be heading out to the field in the next 5 minutes, 

“ I responded by pulling myself up from the bed.

“I just need to get some stuff done around here,” I said. 

“Alright then, see you out there," he said.

I hurried into the bathroom to freshen and then changed my top alongside a ripped jeans.

I quickly got down the stairs and was already out the front door.

The weather surprisingly was so windy as the moon shun so bright over us as it lit up everywhere.

It was so bright we could actually see each other's faces and the surroundings clearly. 

Damon wasn't here yet, so I brought with me a bottle of fruit juice. 

So I just sat down alone sipping my fruit juice. While others had themselves paired sitting in groups.

Henry walked up to where I was sitting and sat next to me.  

“I guess you needed to sleep and rest, that was why we didn't bother to wake you up. You slept off pretty fast" he said. 

It wasn't long before Damon and other guards walked onto the field joining us.

“Can you all gather around me quickly, the training is about to start" Damon said to us all. 

We all gathered around him, standing next to him was Henry holding a box.

"Tonight's training is going to put you guys abilities and senses to the test. You would be shared into groups of twos". Damon said.

He continued " The first group's job is to locate and track the person who is trapped six feet below, there is also a song being played around certain sections of the field to distract you,”

“Also there are different smells and scents which would keep you off the person's scent" he said.

"Everything will be timed because I want to see how fast you guys can get this done." here added.

"The second group's job is to Chase and hunt down the first group who are trying to locate the person who is buried underneath in a box"

“Once you are caught by the second group, you have to return back here. That's the end of your training for tonight" he said.

"Is there any question?" Damon asked. 

"Yes, I have a question," I said shyly.

"Okay, go ahead, what's your question?" he responded.

"Are we allowed to transform since it's a full moon?" I asked.

"Yes actually and there are chunks of raw meat in the box with Henry to help heighten your senses," Damon answered. 

Hearing that made me sort of disgusted but with what's left, I had no choice but to comply to survive this round.

"The first to locate the person gets something from me," Damon added.

Soon afterwards I was paired with a few people that I only got to know names from Damon calling them out, Julia, Jack and Smith who are all beta's which apparently I was the only alpha female.

Without wasting much time the second group was picked because of their speed and good sense of smell and as to the fact that they were also good trackers and hunters.

“Ready?!!” Damon yelled after the sound of the first horn.

“Now!!!!” he yelled as the second horn was blown.

My group started off as we all ran into the woods in front of us but all had taken a bite of the raw meat and I had no choice but to eat it. 

It felt easy at first but locating the scent of the person was difficult and also trying to locate the person's sound sort of turned out harder than expected. 

I had my ears out in search of a heartbeat, or a clue as to where exactly they had this person hidden.

And in that moment, the second horn was blown, which obviously meant the second group would be behind chasing us. 

It wasn't long before we heard them running and howling in the distance behind us..

We all took to our heels, at the sight of them behind us. Smith, who was behind was caught by Henry and he had to go back to the field in no time.

I looked back and could see this funny smile on the face of Henry as he howled into the air. Next I could see the others of the second group behind him as they all had their eyes on me. 

“Fuck!!” 

I could tell from the way they howled and ran towards me, I was next In line to be taken down.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me and as I did, I could hear this fant voice, crying for help. 

“Help!!”

“Help me!!” The voice rang over and over in my head.

At this point, I could tell that I was close.

I was getting closer and closer as the voice became clearer and clearer in my head.

As I approached the spot where the voice was coming from, I found a table and on top of the table was a signal gun, which I took and shot up into the air.
