Twenty One

KATHY

I had few strands of my hair pulled to the back, as I watched him walk towards me by the hallway.

“I've had that a long time ago,” he said pointing to the frame as he had a smile on his face.

I stare into the frame in front of me wondering how long they had them pasted on the wall.

I felt his presence next to mine by the wall as I took a deep breath, trying hard not to think about what had happened earlier today.

“It's beautiful” I said with my eyes still locked in the picture in front of us.

As we both stood there in silence, I heard heavy footsteps coming our way by the hallway and then I assumed it to be one of the guards.

But apparently it was his beta.

Beta Henry had his eyes on us as he held out a scroll waving to Alpha Damon.

I hated how it was he made my wolf growl at the sight of him coming towards us.

And from that instant, I knew Alexa didn't like him at all.

But I wondered why.

“Alpha!” he called out to us as he had his head bowed to him.

“The scroll” he said handing it out to him.

Alpha Damon quickly took it off his hands in a way showing I wasn't supposed to see it.

“I…”

“I'm sorry” Beta Henry said with his head lowered to the ground as he apologized.

Alpha Damon gave him a dead look and then had his eyes back on the scroll, which he rolled up few seconds afterward.

“I will join you in an hour time” he said turning back to the frame.

He stayed silent for a couple of seconds, as I watched his beta walk out of the hallway leaving us both to ourselves.

I noticed him staring silently at one of the picture at the far end of the hall.

I walked over to the frame, wondering why he looked so disturbed staring at the frame.

“Is there something wrong?” I asked still staring at the frame in front of me.

“Nothing”

“Come along!!” he said walking away.

I followed suit from behind wondering where he suddenly wanted us to go.

After a couple of minutes of us walking from one hallway to the other, we finally came to a stop by the entrance leading to the garden of the mansion.

Walking into the garden, I noticed him giving a signal to the omegas by the garden who were busy trimming the flowers a while ago.

I stayed by the door for a couple of minutes watching how he had his hands trailing on the flowers.

“You would commence training tomorrow” he said with his back against me.

I wasn't so bothered with any of that anyway as to the fact that I was ready for just anything heading my way.

I shake away my thoughts of not being able to cope as a trainee in a pack I was yet to learn a lot about.

“Are you cool with that?” he asked.

I stayed silent for a couple of seconds, lost in my thoughts.

“Kathy!!” he called out, snapping his fingers in my face, calling back my attention.

I jerked at the sight of his fingers in my face wondering what he had said earlier on.

“Hmmm” I said.

“I see you wandered off there a bit” he said.

“Sorry Sir” I said as I had my head lowered to the ground.

“Damon,” he responded.

“Just Damon,” he added, staring into my eyes.

I felt my cheeks turn red, the minute he said that staring at me.

“About what happened earlier,” he said, wrapping his hand around his arm.

I felt my heart race hearing him talk about the scene that played a while ago.

I watched how different he acted from the minute he made mention of what had happened as I prayed so hard for the discussion to come to an end.

“I actually didn't mean that” he said with a smile on.

“You are smiling right now” I said.

“This is a happy face”

“My happy face,” he said, pointing to his face as he spoke.

“Really now?!!” I shot at him angrily.

“Got you there,” he said.

“How do I make it up to you?” he asked.

I stayed silent for a couple of minutes staring into his eyes, feeling somehow lost in them.

How did I get here?… I asked myself, staring into his eyes.

“I…”

“I don't know Si…Alpha Damon” I stuttered.

And just then, he gave a look my way like he was trying to hold in his laughter.

“You definitely would need to get used to not calling me Sir,” he said walking back into the mansion.

“What if I don't want to?” I asked hoping I wasn't being too much of a disobedient member.

And just as I said that, he paused by the door and then turned facing me.

“Damon is the name” he said almost aggressively but yet with a smirk on his face.

I gulped down the nut in my throat that was surprisingly stuck as I watched him leave.

A couple of minutes afterward, I was left all to myself in the magnificent living room.

I walked over to the piano standing right at the far end of the living room space.

I had my hands on the keys of the piano, letting my fingers glide through the parts and up to the Lid of the piano.

I soon recalled how I would sit and watch my Foster father play from a distance, and how well he played and even got better by the day.

I smiled remembering how I would always love to want to tag along seated right next to him by the keyboard.

But then again, I was never allowed to.

And as the days went by with me being the daughter to a foster parent, I was compelled to accept my fate.

“Miss!!!…”
