KATHY.

I guessed I was just been unnecessarily emotional, thanks to the imbalance of hormones, because there was no single rational reason as to why I felt that way around Alpha Damon.

Clearly, he was just been kind and caring, especially when he learned I lost my baby. Taking his kind gesture another way was suicidal.

I puffed and laid my head back on the pillow. To think that I lost the very thing that got me banished in the first place was crazy. I wanted the baby to myself, wanted to love it and do right by it.

If I got rejected, I was determined to raise my young with love, and maybe Alpha Bryson would come back to his senses and be on his knees and I would be persistent on giving him a taste of his own pill.

At least that was what I told myself, the lies that regardless, kept me going and each freaking day worth living.

It may possibly be the moon goddess’ way of setting me free, but don't I have a say as to what should happen in my life? It has gotten a whole lot worse than I ever imagined.

There was a knock on the door, and then twice. I kept mute, not like I was noisy before, I just kept dead silent.

Who could that be?

And then again, there was the third knock and then the fourth.

"Who are you?" I asked, keen to be informed.

“The servants Alpha Damon sent over on your demand.”

Oh, he did mention sending guards and servants, I never thought he meant it so I ignored it. Regardless, how shallow of me to be lost in my thoughts other than the reality.

"You can go away, I will manage " I ordered.

"We can't. We won't bother you and you'll barely notice our presence, we know you need rest.”

"Thank you!” I sighed. "And I can't do that having you all around " I insisted on them leaving.

“Alpha Damon ordered that we stay by your side, please. Don't let us get punished.” The maid’s voice continued to plead.

Exhausted and defenseless, I succumbed.

"Fine, come in." I informed.

They walked in one at a time and while one of them came to my side, the rest three remained at the extreme.

“Good day, ma'am.” They chorused.

“Good day.” I managed a response.

“Do you have anything you want us to help you with?”

"No.” I shook my head. "Nothing for now.”

"No water or food or bath? Or even a full body massage?”

Hmm. Tempting enough, but I would rather not indulge them. What I need most is a beauty sleep.

I shook my head. "Like I said, none for now.”

"Alright, ma'am.” She replied and stepped aside to join the others.

Long minutes passed and I remained calm on the bed, waiting for sleep to come. My body was burning hot, which made it difficult for me to fall asleep.

It seemed awkward being with the servants and just watching them murmur and make slight movements. Trying too hard to sleep and not being able to, I gave up.

“Can you please help me up to the bathroom?” Restless, I inquired from them.

“Definitely, ma'am.”

A maid responded and walked up to my bedside. She took my hand in hers and helped me up. The walk to the bathroom was brief, and half of the time, I leaned on the maid.

On arrival, I opened the bathroom door and walked in, then closed it after. I stripped off the gown and got in the shower.

When I turned the handle, the intense rush of cold water had me leaping and on the verge of screaming. I needed a cold bath, but surely not an icy one.

I turned it off and took a few minutes to catch my breath. Breathing in and out for the umpteenth time, I turned it on and forcefully held myself from screaming.

When my hand got to my flat belly, the memories of losing my child flooded my mind and I began sobbing. Bracing myself to the gravity of the news, I stopped crying and continued washing my body.

As time went on, I got used to the icy temperature, which made it a lot better. Long minutes dragged on and when I was done, I switched it off and stepped out of the shower.

I dried myself up with a towel that was behind the door and got into my gown.

On getting out of the bathroom, the servants stopped murmuring and the same maid that helped me in, came to me and helped me to the bed.

Minute by minute, my vision got more blurred as I drifted into a light sleep.

“Hello, ma'am Kathy?” A voice called.

My eyelashes flickered open and I took the figure before me. She was a young lady, tall and cheerful.

I tried to sit up.

“No, you don't need to bother.” Her hands on my shoulder made me relax back on the bed.

“Hello.” I managed.

“Yeah, I'm Lilian, the doctor. And you are very much stable. In about a few hours, you would be due for discharge.”

“Okay.” I said with a nod to follow, feeling at my worst again.

"Alright, that will be all.” She stepped backward. "I'm so sorry for your loss.”

I blinked back tears, as I remained still. It just dawned that I would leave here alone and not as I came.

She walked away and I turned to the other side of the bed to cry in secret.

“You will be staying in the room next to mine.” A familiar baritone rang.

I turned to face the source of the voice and saw Alpha Damon, his eyes were so fixated on me.

“I need to be sure of your safety.” He stated.

Was that genuine? Why do I feel so uneasy?
