Chapter 152: Chapter 153

Adrian was in his office as usual manipulating his computer when a knock resounded on the door of his office.

"Come in," he said while raising his voice so that the person that was knocking could hear him, and with that, the door swung open, revealing Amelia. On seeing her, Adrian furrowed his brows in surprise while wondering what she wanted this time around.

"Good morning, sir," Amelia greeted Adrian with a warm smile as she walked into the office.

"Well, to begin with, my name is Adrian and not 'sir'. I will tolerate others calling me that, and you calling me that in public, but I won't tolerate you calling me that in private," Adrian said to Amelia.

"Okay, good morning, Adrian. How are you doing?" Amelia asked Adrian.

"I'm doing good, Amelia. What about you?" Adrian asked her.

"I'm doing good too, just as you can see," Amelia said to Adrian.

"Well, you are right; I can clearly see that you are doing fine. So please have a seat," Adrian said to Amelia, who was still standing, and with that, she sat down on the chair opposite him.

"So today you came to my office without me calling you. I hope there's no problem, or did you come to complain about something?" Adrian asked her.

"No, I didn't come to complain about something," Amelia said to Adrian.

"Ooh, that means today is my lucky day then; you came uninvited and also didn't come to complain about something," Adrian said to Amelia.

"Well, you can say that; actually, the reason why I came to see you is to thank you," Amelia said to Adrian, who furrowed his brows at her.

"Thank me? For what exactly?" Adrian asked her with furrowed brows.

"Well, first, for saving my life some months ago, I never got the chance to personally thank you for it, and also for watching over me since all this while. It's true that I don't have any means to repay you for all that, but you don't have to worry; I will surely figure out a way to pay you back very soon," Amelia said to Adrian.

"And who said that there are no means to pay me back? First of all, just know that there's no need for that. I wasn't expecting anything in return for the things I did for you, but in case you are determined to pay me back for the things I did for you, then you already know what I want," Adrian said to Amelia.

"Well, I'm sorry, Adrian, but I can't give you what you are asking for," Amelia said to Adrian.

"Then forget about it. As I said earlier, I wasn't expecting anything in return for everything I did for you, but since you were insisting on paying me back, that's why I told you what I wanted, but since you can't give it to me, then don't worry about paying me back, unless you finally change your mind," Adrian said to Amelia.

"Okay, no problem then. Thank you so much once again. I will be taking my leave now. I hope that very soon, you too will change your mind and accept any gift that I will offer you," Amelia said to Adrian before standing and making her way to the exit.

"Have a nice day, Adrian," she said to Adrian as she opened the door and was about to walk out.

"Same to you, Amelia," Adrian said to her, and with that she walked out and closed the door.

"What a stubborn creature," Adrian muttered inwardly after she left.

"She's really stubborn, at this point, I too have to admit it, but just as I had said to you earlier, have a little patience; she'll get back to you very soon," Max Adrian's wolf said to him as he mind-linked with him.

"Well, how I wish being patient was that easy. I have been trying my best to keep my cool all this while, but she's not helping it, and believe me, if she continues like this, I'm going to lose it, and I won't have any other choice but to listen to her and move on with my life," Adrian said to his wolf, who sighed heavily.

"I understand perfectly what you are saying, man, but still have some patience, okay?" Max asked Adrian.

"Yes, I will, Max. After all, if I'm still here, it's because I'm still having some patience; if not, I would have already left since," Adrian said to his wolf.

Meanwhile, as Amelia was heading to her office, she was once again met with Tony, who was also returning to his office.

"Hi Amelia, "How are you doing?" Tony asked Amelia.

"I'm doing good. What about you?" Tony asked Amelia.

"I'm doing good too, so how was your trip yesterday?" Tony asked Amelia.

"It was very good; I went and came back safely, as you can see," Amelia said to Tony, who nodded in reply.

"By the way, did you go along with Dr Adrian?" Tony asked Amelia, who at first wanted to tell him that Adrian wasn't a doctor, but then she just shrugged it off.

"No, why did you ask?" Amelia asked Tony.

"Well yesterday Dr Adrian didn't also show up, so I thought he followed you to where you were going, especially as both of you are close," Tony said to Amelia.

"No, he didn't; I went alone," Amelia said to Tony, who nodded in reply.

"Okay then, I will be taking my leave; have a nice day," Tony said to Amelia.

"Same to you, Tony," Amelia said to Tony, who turned and started walking away, and with that, Amelia too started heading towards her office.

"Amelia What do you think about Tony?" 'Tricksy?' asked Amelia as she was heading to her office.

"Well, I don't know. I think he's crushing on me, but he doesn't know how to tell me directly. That's why he keeps on asking me to have dinner or lunch with him and the rest of that." Amelia said to Tricksy as she got to the front of her office, and with that, she opened it and went inside before closing the door.

"And what if he finally musters up the courage and asks you to date him? Will you date him?" 'Tricksy?' asked Amelia.

"No, he's not as bold as Adrian. Do you think I'm ever going to date someone who isn't as bold as Adrian? Amelia asked Tricksy, who scoffed at her.

"Why don't you get back with Adrian then, because I don't think that you are ever going to find someone as bold as he is, and also he has been asking you to get back with him all this while," Tricksy said to Amelia.

"Come on, Tricksy, you know very well why I don't want to accept Adrian back. It's not as if I don't like him, but after our last experience together, I still can't bring myself to trust him. No matter how hard I try, I still have this feeling that he's going to do what he did back then if I accept getting back with him," Amelia said to Tricksy, who sighed heavily.

"Amelia It's been almost six years since that happened. Hope you know that." 'Tricksy?' asked Amelia.

"Yes, I know that," Tricksy said to Amelia.

"Why can't you allow it to slide then?" Tricksy asked Amelia, who sighed heavily before leaning back on her chair.

"Tricksy, it's not as easy as you think. It might have been six years, but the wound is still there," Amelia said to Tricksy.

"Well, I never knew that some wounds take more than six years to heal. Anyway, it's your life; do as you please. It's a good thing that you have told Adrian to move on with his life. I hope that very soon he realises that he's wasting his time and moves on with his life just as you asked him so that you too can focus on finding someone as bold as him," Tricksy said to Amelia, who was still leaning back on the chair on which she was sitting with her eyes closed.

Suddenly, her phone started ringing, jolting her back to reality. Without hesitating, Amelia took her phone that was lying on her desk and checked the caller ID, only to see an unknown number. At first, she was hesitant about picking it up, but when the call hung up and came in the second time, she immediately picked up the call and placed the phone on her ear.

"Hello, who is this?" Amelia asked after picking up the call and placing the phone on her ear, but after waiting for some minutes, she didn't get any reply; the only thing she was hearing was the sound of someone breathing. She was about to hang up when a voice sounded through the phone.

"Hello, my dear Amelia, How are you doing? "It's been a while," a cold, icy voice sounded through the phone, and on hearing the voice, Amelia widened her eyes in surprise.
