Chapter 171 THE RITUAL OF POWER
Chapter 171 THE RITUAL OF POWER
THE RITUAL OF POWER
MARCELLA'S POV
The night air was sharp and cold against my bare skin, but I barely noticed. My legs moved with relentless force, every muscle straining as I raced toward the mountain where the old witch had told me to meet her. With each step, I drew closer to the destiny I had fought so desperately to claim, every beat of my heart echoing with triumph and the promise of revenge. I had waited for this night for three long, grueling years—three years of shame, of being overlooked, disregarded, and humiliated. Tonight, all of that would finally come to an end.
The mountain loomed before me, jagged and shadowed under the waning moonlight. A mist hugged its slopes, curling like ethereal fingers, adding an air of foreboding to the already tense night. My pulse was rapid, every nerve alight with anticipation. I reached the designated spot, the small clearing that the witch had prepared, and my eyes immediately caught the chalk symbol drawn meticulously on the ground. Its intricate pattern twisted and curled, ancient and precise, almost glowing faintly in the moonlight. I knew the significance of the circle—it was the boundary, the anchor for the power transfer. This was where everything would change.
I laid the twins gently on the cold stone altar. Their small faces, framed with soft curls, seemed peaceful, innocent, yet even in sleep, they radiated a faint glow, a shimmer of energy pulsing beneath their skin. Their power was palpable; I could feel it vibrating through the air, thrumming against my fingertips, an intoxicating, electric current that made my skin prickle. These children, small as they were, carried strength beyond comprehension. Their essence, pure and untainted, surged with potential I could barely contain my excitement over.
The old witch appeared, her robes whispering against the stone as she moved toward the altar. She touched one of the twins lightly, her gnarled fingers brushing against the warm skin, and stepped back, studying me with sharp, calculating eyes. A smile played across her lips, though it didn’t quite reach the caution in her eyes.
“They are very, very powerful,” she said softly, almost reverently. “Small as they are, they contain an energy that is rare… potent. More than you could expect. Marcella, are you certain of what you want? Once this is done, there is no going back. Their power is not easily tamed.”
I laughed, the sound sharp and cold, filled with hunger and defiance.
“I don’t care,” I snapped. “I don’t want to understand their power. I don’t want to measure it, contain it, or consider its limits. All I want is for it to be mine. Every ounce of it. I’ve suffered, been humiliated, been cast down, treated like an Omega when I was supposed to rise. I’ve been ignored and dismissed because of my rank, my blood, my birthright. Tonight, all of that ends. Do not waste my time questioning me. Take their power, and make it mine.”
Her eyes flickered, a brief hesitation crossing her face, but she nodded slowly. “Very well. I just needed to know that you understand what you are undertaking. Once the ritual begins, the energy will respond to your intent, and intent cannot be feigned. You must be resolute, or their essence could overwhelm you.”
I stepped closer, my gaze unwavering, my voice sharp, filled with raw determination. “I am resolute. I do not fear their power, nor do I fear what it will do to me. I have lived in weakness long enough. I have been an Omega, a laughingstock, dismissed by Hayden, by Mildred, by everyone who mattered. That time is over. I am claiming what is rightfully mine.”
She took a deep breath and began the preparation, murmuring under her breath as she traced her hands through the air, drawing invisible lines of energy that shimmered faintly against the night. The twins stirred slightly, small whimpers escaping their lips as they sensed the pull of their power, the invisible tug that was drawing at the very essence of their being. Their tiny fists clenched, their brows furrowed, and a low whine of discomfort emanated from their throats. But I didn’t flinch. Their discomfort only heightened my anticipation.
“They are strong,” the witch murmured. “Even so, their force is resistant. It will test you, and it will test me. Are you prepared for what this could do to your mind, your body? You may not emerge unchanged.”
I laughed again, my voice echoing sharply in the clearing. I grabbed her by the robes, pulling her closer, my eyes blazing with fury and determination. “Do you think I care? Do you think I give a damn about my body, my mind, my soul? Their father humiliated me. Hayden reduced me to nothing. I have been an Omega for too long, Marcella, and now, it is time for me to rise. Their power belongs to me. Every drop of it, every pulse, every spark—it is mine. And you will give it to me.”
The witch flinched at my intensity, but she did not resist. “You are ambitious, yes, but reckless. Their energy… it is pure. If you misuse it, if your intent wavers, it could consume you. The twins… they are bound to the moon and the earth in ways that even I… I do not fully comprehend.”
“I do not care,” I hissed. “I am not here to debate morality. I am here to seize my destiny. The twins’ power is my birthright, my revenge, my rise from humiliation to dominance. Nothing else matters.”
She sighed, shaking her head, yet she began the incantation. Her voice rose and fell, weaving syllables older than memory, a song of energy and binding that made the ground beneath our feet hum. The air thickened, electric and sharp, crackling against my skin. The chalked circle glowed faintly, pulsing in time with the energy that rose from the twins’ bodies, a visible shimmer that danced like silver lightning along the ground.
The twins’ cries grew louder, their voices small but insistent, resisting the pull of their own energy. Their struggle sent ripples through the air, the raw intensity of their essence colliding with the witch’s spell. It was beautiful, terrifying, intoxicating. I could feel it, almost tasting it—raw, unbridled potential, coiled tightly, waiting to be claimed.
“Push harder,” I urged, my voice trembling with a mixture of excitement and desperation. “Do not hesitate. Take it from them. Force it out if you have to. I don’t care what it costs. I want it now!”
The witch’s brow furrowed, beads of sweat forming on her aged forehead. “They are resisting, Marcella. Even I… their essence is too strong. You must understand that the process itself could backfire if your will is not absolute.”
I stepped back slightly, my eyes fixed on the twins, my heart pounding with anticipation. “I have no hesitation. I have no fear. Do what must be done. Do it now.”
Her hands moved faster, tracing lines and gestures that were precise and rhythmic. A low hum rose from her lips, vibrating through the clearing, through the very earth beneath our feet. The twins cried out, small voices screaming in protest, but I did not look away. I could see the energy, tendrils of silver and violet, begin to coil upward from their tiny bodies, stretching toward me as if recognizing their new master, their rightful possessor.
I felt a surge of raw exhilaration, a thrill unlike anything I had experienced before. This was the moment I had dreamed of, plotted for, and waited years to achieve. Their power was mine. I could feel it brushing against me, teasing the edges of my consciousness, calling to me. My fingers tingled, my skin prickled, and I swore I could feel it entering me, weaving into my very bones, my blood, my being.
The witch glanced at me, eyes wide with caution. “You must be careful. Their force… it is pure. Even with me controlling the flow, it could overwhelm you if you falter. You… you must be ready for the consequences.”
I let out a sharp laugh, cold and filled with hunger. “Consequences? There are no consequences for me. I have been crushed, humiliated, dismissed, and reduced to nothing. This… this is my ascension. Let their power burn through me, reshape me, remold me into something they will all fear, something Hayden and Mildred could never touch, something no pack could ever challenge.”
The air grew heavier, energy swirling like a storm contained within the clearing. The twins’ cries intensified, yet their resistance began to falter, their small bodies trembling under the immense pull. And then, slowly, a thin ribbon of silver energy shot from their chest, spiraling toward me, merging with the hum that now encased me, enveloping me, consuming me. I gasped, the raw force coursing through me, electrifying every nerve, every fiber of my being. I could feel my body stretching, reshaping, my senses sharpening beyond human comprehension.
“Yes… yes!” I screamed, a triumphant roar that echoed across the mountain. “This is it! Finally! Finally, I claim what was mine!”
The witch’s voice trembled, “It is happening… but… beware. Their power… it is relentless. It will not forgive weakness.”
I ignored her warnings, drinking in every spark, every pulse, every shred of energy flowing from the twins into me. The world tilted, spun, and fell away until there was nothing but the surge, the thrill, the hunger fulfilled. I was rising. I was ascending. No longer an Omega, no longer weak, no longer humiliated. I was reborn in power.
When it was over, I stood there, trembling, alive with the electricity of pure, stolen energy. My hands glowed faintly with residual force. The twins lay exhausted, drained but alive, their small forms still flickering with hints of the power I had absorbed. I laughed, loud and victorious, my voice echoing across the mountain.
“Thank you, Mildred,” I whispered bitterly to the distance, imagining her fury and despair. “Thank you for giving birth to such powerful children. And thank you for giving me everything I lost. I am no longer the girl you dismissed. I am unstoppable. I am invincible. And now… everything you have, everything Hayden has… will belong to me.”
For the first time in years, I felt complete, triumphant, untouchable. I had suffered, yes. I had been beaten down, ignored, mocked. But tonight… tonight, I had risen beyond every slight, every humiliation. The twins’ power pulsed within me, a torrent of energy, a promise, a weapon. And I would use it. All of it.
The mountain was silent, the night holding its breath, as I smiled, reveling in the magnitude of what I had achieved. I had gone down to rise. I
had fallen to ascend. And now, nothing, no one, could stop me.
