Chapter 168 THE WEB OF DECEIT
Chapter 168 THE WEB OF DECEIT
THE WEB OF DECEIT
Marcella POV
It felt as if the world was watching. I needed answers, and I had to know more about the box. When I opened it again, I was stunned. Inside was a glowing orb, radiating a purple light. I reached for it, but all I felt was a fast, brutal nightmare—far worse than any dream. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in the palace, and no one spoke of it.
I made sure no one saw me handle it. Taking the twins would mean taking these orbs too. I went to the old witch and told her everything. She admitted she had known about the ancient orbs, and that was all I needed. I would definitely bring them with me when I took the twins.
Slowly and slowly, I continued spreading rumors. It was difficult, but I did it. And I did a great job at that. But the stealth wasn't enough. I knew that I needed chaos. So I found the perfect pack to start that with. The Iron Fang pack. I recalled during the twins' ceremony. They came with the highest gift. And of course, Alpha Kael wouldn't stop praising them. So it would make so much sense if he is the one who hated them.
It was time for me to paint Kael as envious, ambitious, and desperate for the Pack's strength. That was just all I needed. It was soon a quiet night. I made my way to the guard with a cup of coffee for both of them. As they looked at me, questioning,
"You are now not allowed in these quarters."
They attacked me as I waved my hand in the air.
"What do you mean by I'm not allowed in these quarters? I didn't come here for anything. I was sent by the mate to come and offer you coffees that you guys usually take at night,"
I said to them, even though none of the maids had actually sent me anything like that. But I had monitored their routines and noticed they always took coffee at a particular time. And it was a good thing I did it now because I had learned the routine of everybody in the palace, including Mildred, who was not yet aware of my plans.
I looked at the empty seat beside them and moved my eyebrow, clearly signifying that I wanted to take a seat. They looked at me confused.
"What do you want?"
They questioned as I laughed.
"I just feel so bored alone, and I thought maybe I could share a seat or two with you."
I said to them as they looked at themselves and then laughed.
"Share a seat or two with us? I don't think you're in any position to share any so-called seats with us. Okay, go."
They instructed as I looked at the door. If only I could just kill them at this moment. If only I was not an Omega. What I would have done to them. I would have attacked them and ran into that room, thinking of the twins and do what I had to do. But I had to calm down. Patience was virtue at this point. Only patience can do everything I want to do. Nothing else.
I smiled gullibly and walked towards one of them.
"Please, I'm bored. If I go back into that place, I am going to walk my life out. I'm tired. You do see me scrubbing the staircase in the morning all the time. I'm fed up. I swear. Swear to you. Please just let me take a seat here and rest. Besides, I have juicy gist for you guys."
I said as they looked at themselves before letting go of the seats. I took a seat with them and noticed they were really enjoying the coffee. Oh, that was just the perfect way. If I spread rumors through them, I will also poison them myself since they are beginning to trust me slowly. It was so easy to manipulate people, and yet I decided that I wanted to scrub stairs and move with a stupid plan that couldn't work. Thank God I didn't wait for the old witch before I did what I had to do.
I cleared my throat before speaking.
"Do you know that there have been threats to the palace? Are you guys really up to the mission when war comes?"
I said as one of the guards laughed.
"No war is ever coming here, okay? We are safe. We are protected. This is one of the most protected palaces in the whole of the territory. Do you know how hard it is for Packs to penetrate?"
He said, feeling so bored about himself, as I chuckled.
"Really, it's so hard to penetrate. But yet a rogue was easily able to enter even for the twins. They were actually able to help. I wonder what would have happened."
I said to them as they looked at themselves.
"How did you get that news?"
One of them questioned again as I laughed even louder.
"It's obvious. Everyone knows it. I don't know why Luna Mildred keeps hiding it. Don't you see it? Alpha ?"
"Yes, I saw a secret message that the Luna found. She has been keeping it a secret. Alpha Kael warns the twins. Do you know that? You know nothing about it. You guys are just protecting them, not knowing what is going to brew. Trust me, I don't want to be in you guys' position when something like that happens."
I said to them.
I was about to stand up as another of them cleared his throat.
"Are you sure of what you're saying? Are you sure?"
They said as I laughed.
"I have never been wrong before. That is why I'm a mage. I hear gossips, rumors, things. I see evidence. I saw an actual letter. Yes, an enemy is brewing somewhere. There are spies everywhere. I just hope you guys are able to fight them when the time comes. You know how strict Luna Mildred can be. I just hope she doesn't take your head off when you don't do what she wants."
I said with a smirk on my face as I left them to their own thoughts. They looked all so frustrated. I went back, but I did not rest. I picked up clothes and began to dye them. Yes, I wanted it to be like it was a mark from the Iron Clan Pack. That was just all I needed at this point.
I started leaving traces. Not little traces, but obvious. Not too suspicious. I knew for sure that suspicion had started growing. Even though Mildred was keeping things a secret, Hayden couldn't due to what I heard. The next night while I scrubbed the staircase, Hayden was stopped by his Beta.
"Are we really going to tell Luna and Luna Mildred about this? I don't think she would take it easily if she knows somebody else wants to take her twins. You know how protective she is of them. What would happen?"
He said as I laughed. My plans are already working. I just need to be sure if Hayden wants to attack Kael or not.
"Are you sure that that letter came from Alpha Kael? So, he has spies? He's planting spies. I trusted him. I let him give me gifts. Only God knows whether he tried to ruin me through those gifts. Everything Mildred told me was right. Enemies are everywhere. They are brewing. They are getting ready to attack me. And I would not give them a chance. If it means I have to go to war with the Iron Clan Pack, I don't mind doing it."
He said, and that was it. I had never felt so excited about news the way I did. At this point, knowing that Hayden had finally turned towards Kael and had seen him as a threat, I couldn't help but smile. Because when the twins vanished, all eyes would fall on Kael. No one would think to look for the broken Omega scrubbing floors and washing toilets. I know for sure that this time around my plans were going to work.
So, I started orchestrating everything. I made sure that even the old witch had a way to escape. An escape route that would be easy for all of us. Because I don't want to leave any traces behind. I don't even want Mildred to have to find me. I only want her to see her dead twins' bodies on the ground and me becoming powerful as I kill both packs. I got closer and closer to everything. I noticed that the twins were slowly training. I noticed Mildred was not either, resting too.
"How can a three-year-old child fight me? No matter how powerful they can be, I have a perfect way."
I decided to get closer to the nurse who always brewed their milk. I walked towards her one morning and quickly rushed to help her turn on the stove. She seemed so cautious, like she did not want anybody around her. Clearly, she had already been given strict rules that she had to follow. I was just about to own it when she held my hands.
"You don't have to do it. You don't have to do anything. And besides, I don't let anybody get close to me when I'm brewing the twins' milk."
She said as I laughed.
"I just wanted to help you. You wake up every morning and you struggle. I see the stress you pass through. It's not so bad if I help you."
I said to her, and she laughed.
"I'm not dumb, Marcella. I know who you are. I know what you did. Okay? The Luna has warned us about you. Yes, we have to keep our limits from you because you are dangerous. And I don't want to lose my head because I decided to give you a chance."
She warned. Before I could say anything, she collected everything for me and turned it on. As I felt sad, I stayed at a corner watching her, not still ready to give up. She really thought a few mouthfuls of words were going to change my mind. No, it would not change anything at all.
"So what are you trying to say? Are you pushing me away? You don't want my help? You don't want anything because you believe what the Luna said. Do you really see me as a bad person? Look at the Luna now and tell me you think she is not the bad person. At this point, she is literally ready to kill anybody. Because of twins. Because of children that nobody wants. Besides, why don't you always wonder why exactly she is keeping these twins a secret? Everything they do is cautious. Don't you want to know anyway? I’m not even here to discourage you or tell you whether you should know something or not. All I'm telling you is give me a chance to help you. These works are too hectic for you, and you need assistance. I am open to help you. I don't know why you keep rejecting this,"
I said to her angrily as she paused for a while.
"Please don't make me regret this,"
she stuttered before finally letting go of the kettle.
"Yes? Want to go? Just one more thing, and I have gotten what I finally wanted. Truly, patience was the only way out of this. It was the only way to win against Mildred."
