CHAPTER HUNDRED SIXTEEN

Enya pov

My hands tremble, my grip on Vince's hand tightens to the point where I feel him flinch in surprise. But a moment later, I push my mate away from me and free myself from his grip. Step by step, I move closer to his cell. Though Vince is doing his best to hold me back, there will be no end to the suffering of those who hurt me. Starting with the man who pretended to be my father.

"Vince, Melinda," I whisper, but apparently, I'm loud enough to get their attention. I can't look at my mother, nor can I address her as such. I have no right to do so- I killed the man she loved, I slaughtered my own father and spilt his blood like a pig. If anything, I have no right to be near her, so I cast my gaze to the dirty floor. "I need you both out of here. Please," my voice breaks and tears run down my cheeks as memories flood my mind. Both of the day I killed the man, who saved my life by giving me away, and of all the memories I share with the fucking imposter of a father I've had my whole life.

I feel Vince's hands on my shoulders, but I don't give in. "Baby, you don't have to do this. Please, don't make any rash decisions; you might regret them later," Vince whispers, but I don't see any meaning behind his words. They make no sense.

Melinda's quick to jump in and side with Vince. "I agree with Vincent. He's not worth it; let's leave this place." Since I don't show any change of heart, she speaks up again. "Besides, I'm still hungry." I suppose the comment is meant to lighten the mood, but there's nothing to distract me from my main goal.

"Leave. Please." I repeat myself. Vince slowly steps away from me. After a few minutes of silence, they walk away, leaving me with the monster that created the shitshow I call life.

Ever so slowly, I lift my gaze until it meets his. Never in my life have I seen the mighty Leader Dirk as shit scared as he is at this moment. The corner of my mouth lifts as I take another step closer to his cell. "Guards!" I yell at the top of my lungs.

Two men rush down the stairs and stop right in front of me to bow. "Luna," one of them greets me.

I ignore the title he uses and point my finger at the cell. "I need the key to this cell." My eyes are dead set on the coward hiding behind the bars.

The guard gulps. "B-but Luna," he strutters. I wasn't asking for damn opinions; I was asking for a key.

"Key. And lock the main door until I ask you to open it. No one is allowed down here until I'm done. Do you understand?" I don't bother to raise my voice at the poor men. They're trying to do their job, and I'm forcing them into a somewhat difficult position.

"B-but what about..."

Before the other guard could say another word, I cut him off. "Whatever you're about to ask me, keep in mind- your Alpha knows that I'm down here, and I asked him to leave. If you stand in my way now, you'll have to explain yourself to Vincent later. And trust me, I'll have a riot on my hands if I don't get that damn key." I hold out my palm, impatiently waiting to feel the tiny metal object against my skin.

"My apologies, Luna." The same guard whispers, handing me the key, and both men leave as I requested. I hate being the person who takes advantage of every bit of power or connections, she has to get what she wants, but sometimes it's necessary.

As the door closing sound echoes off the walls, I grin. "Oh, God, he would be amused by the dark shadows of an evil mind he created, wouldn't he? Do you believe in God, FATHER?" I emphasize the word with so much disgust that a shiver runs down my spine. I insert the key into the lock of the cell door and turn it. "The same God that has a sense of humour, right? Because if he didn't, he wouldn't allow the truth to appear on the surface. I'd still believe the lies you told." A bitter chuckle leaves my lips as soon as I open the cell door. The imposter crawls back to increase the distance between us as I slowly enter the cell. "The same fucking God would be amused to see you at my feet. The tables have turned, FATHER. I'm no longer the scared little girl you used to control. You can't manipulate me or make me believe anything. I am my own person; I make my own decisions." Tears run down my cheeks, but none of them because I'm in pain. I'm crying out of desperation and hatred for the same person I once considered my hero. "Guess what?"

Dirk crawls back until his back hits the wall, and the air is hit out of his lungs, making him stutter. "W-what?"

"Today, I make the decision I should have made the day I took someone's last heartbeat. The day my father died was the day the imposter had to die. I can feel the taste of sweet revenge on the tip of my tongue," my voice is quieter than ever. I bend down, slide my hand into my boot, and grab the knife. "However, there is one thing you taught me that I'll never forget. Always carry a weapon on you- you never know when you'll need one." As I pull out the knife, his eyes widen.

I watch him shake his head and struggle to say anything. I know what he might say. The powerful Leader of the Alliance is scared of death more than he ever feared the monsters he created. I step forward, grab the handle, kneel before him, and plunge the knife into his leg. The scream of pain makes me laugh in delight. He doesn't try to remove the object- that wouldn't do him any good either.

"Look at me," I whisper as my hand reaches for the handle of the knife. I've never seen anything more beautiful in my life- the horror in his eyes, the tears streaming down his cheeks, and the way his bottom lip trembles because of the pain. I twist the knife and laugh as soon as another cry leaves his lips. "Does that feel good, FATHER? Look at you; no one is coming to your aid. You're alone, scared, and there's no one to stand by your side. Believe me; the other Leaders wouldn't bother to help you even if you begged them. First, you've abused your power and used it against them, making some of these men almost victims. Second, the Alliance was like a sinking ship; the rats left first. You're alone; you are the one responsible for what is to come. If it weren't for greed and childish jealousy, you wouldn't be stuck here." I force the words through gritted teeth. As my short speech ends, I pull the knife from his leg.

I give Dirk about two minutes to breathe out the pain, and once I see his body relax, I plunge the knife into the side of his neck. His eyes widen, but this time there are no screams. My hand sticks to the handle as I bring my face incredibly close to his.

"I see it now," he whispers. I can see how much it pains him to speak, but he's still trying to announce something.

"See what?" I raise an eyebrow. Maybe his last words won't be as much of a pile of shit as everything else this man has ever said. I can give him that much time to explain himself.

He closes his eyes and leans his head against the wall. I'm still holding the handle- one wrong move and my reaction will no longer be my responsibility. "The fire. Remember I always told you there was a fire burning in your soul and heart? I see it now. You were born to kill and destroy. This is the only moment you can see the flame. An extraordinary animal you are, indeed." The fact that he just called me an animal only makes me angrier. That asshole has been taking advantage of my father's legacy my entire life, and I never had a clue why he said that. Now, I understand.

Ever so slowly, I turn the knife, inch by inch. Each time a cry of pain leaves his lips, I pause for a few seconds, only to repeat the same thing all over again. Once the knife travels a full round in his flesh- all it takes is to pull it out and watch the man drain faster than a bathtub. "Are you scared?" The question leaves my lips before I can think about it. Some things happen instinctively, but I'm glad I asked it.

Dirk gulps but doesn't waste any time answering my sudden question. "Yes."

"I've been one step away from death far too many times, and it's all because of you, and you're afraid of death? You're weak." I chuckle.

Dirk matches my tone and adds, "Death doesn't scare me anymore."

"What scares you?" Damn, sometimes curiosity gets the best of me. I can't keep focusing on the asshole; he's just buying himself more time.

"You do." The words leave his lips as a loud hiss right when I twist the knife a little more, applying pressure to make his experience so much more painful. "The very monster I created is the same creature that is taking what little lime I have left. Even though I'm scared, I'm also happy."

"Good for you," I hiss, turning the knife again- almost there. He can try to hurt me with words, manipulate me into doing something, but he won't get the best of me anymore. Today is the last day blood will be on my hands. Today is the last time I kill, and I do it to free myself. Once he's gone, I'm free. Finally.

"You kill everything you touch. It's the only thing you know how to do. You have no idea how to love, cherish or appreciate someone. You tell me to look at myself, and believe me, I do, but have you ever tried to look at yourself? Can you face the monster in the reflection of the mirror? You'll kill them all, one by one. That's the only purpose you know and the only one you have. First, it was your biological father, and now, it's the man who raised you. Funny how people say that the father isn't the one who created you, but the one who was there for you. And that was me- from day one. Even though I always hated you and always will, I was still there for you. Even an unlovable animal like you had someone who cared about your needs. Go ahead, kill me, stop wasting your time. One father at a time, next to your mother and anyone who claims to love you. Kill them!"
